Chapter 29 : The Traitor

"So, you seem sure that Lux is being coerced," I comment as the scenery flies by.

"Of course, I've known Lux for nearly her entire adult life. For a while, she was a close confidant. Though she never really mentioned her personal life, and I never asked. I didn't even know she had a grandson until now."

I nod with a soft sigh. "I guess that's why she wanted you to comfort her. She must really trust you."

He shrugs. "I guess so. Although I don't think I ever remember her trying to get that close to me before." Nia scowls. Really? It was obvious she cared about him tonight. Did he really not notice?

"She never mentioned that she may have liked you before?" I carefully ask.

His scowl deepens. "No? I think she once mentioned that she liked me, but I know she meant as a friend." Liked him as a friend... Right... He's clueless. I scoff and shake my head. Nia gives me a puzzled look, but I don't say anything.

Nia sighs and doesn't push further.
