Chapter 15 : The New Assignment
Nia has moved from the giant tome to the computer, to my shock, when I get back. He's staring intensely at the screen as he types away. I can't help but look over his shoulder. He has tabs open to sites meant to find people and their information. The same kinds of sites he had up when I was his target.
Does he have a new target?
"Nia?" I ask as I reach out for him. He startles slightly as I touch his shoulder. A strand of hair falls over his forehead, which he quickly sweeps back. "What's up?" Nia smiles tightly at my question.
"I noticed I was hired to, um," he clears his throat. "Well, I have a new target to take care of." I can't help but shiver at that. How can he sound both nervous yet so callused about that? He was hired to kill someone.
"Seriously? And you're going to do it?"
"It is my job, Hemera. They've already paid half my fee. I don't plan on turning it down. The target is a real a*s, too."
"You didn't kill me, though."
