Vigar set up a meeting with his crows, they were expected to bring the king of Sarnor small council, he planned it so accordingly.
"The great Shepeard guards the flock". (G.R.R.M quote)
These are the very two reasons the council would not deny his request; one it would be an act of disgrace if they did not capture a traitor to the crown. Two some sort of diplomacy could be made to stop an upcoming war. Before he left ghis he watched the sarnor guards bleed from the heat. Surely, they would want to know how their soldiers are faring.
The crowd roared in their seats as another criminal lay dead with sword in hand. Soon it would be his crows who fought and the crowd who screams for justice. His own creations, slaves of blood and gold would take their vengeance. They had already given him everything he asked of them. Why not a little more, he thought.
He heard the familiar sound of a woman jingling nearby. When he turned his head there was his crows. All five of them. They chose to adnore their body with so many jewels even he had to look away from it. Behind stood three strangers, the council he thought. "Sit", he told them as he stood inviting. His face was stern and knowing.
"Thank you all for coming".
"I know this place is a bit crowded, but I'm told this is the best seats in the daznak pits".
The man with the sun burnt slave seemed anxious he pretended not to see before leaving the party making some excuse of a political matter. The first man from the council took Vigar seat. "What have you heard?", he asked the slave master. "Their planning to use your army to invade Sarnor". A blatant lie just so he could start a war for he knew he was going to die. He also knew about the attempt to buy an army from Asshai, let's just say he himself sabotaged and smuggled the king's gold to ghis. He told the council all of this. "Those sell swords you bought will do you nothing now".
He made a mistake. The man from the small council smiled. "Thank you for your dutiful service but now I know". The guards from the pits came from behind and took them. The crowd cheered for the new opponents. "Are you sure about this?", the second man from the council asked. "No", but what else can we do. A war must be prevented if his words are true".
Vigar returned with exactly four cups full of wine as they watched the show. "How shall we proceed?", Vigar asked the men. "Return our gold to us", the first man said. Vigar played along the lines unsure of what the man was asking. Are they trying to cheat them out of their own money or did the fat, chubby crow, do something without his knowledge. He replied by saying: "Gold for a few men can help your people. Their hungry you know the heat wasn't made for them. Just take the former slave masters, slaves. Actual gold is her, if taken from her body she is no longer valuable no longer safe, these are your men now".
"Forget the gold let's end this farce. We both know that war is coming. Let's settle for piece instead". He was too eager as though he has another trick up his sleeve. Vigar watched the other two men, and it crossed his mind that the man speaking was the brain and they the metal. So, what does that make their king. "Our kingdom has nothing to lose if we fight Sarnor. So, let's end this farce indeed". Vigar left the crowd as the last crow was struck down. The small council sent a message to the king soon after the short meeting. Vigar did the same.
"Captain", Rogers shouted. "We've found him". The captain and his crew have been in Sarhoy for two moons now. A whole moon cycle looking for a sorcerer that gave them the middle finger and injured men. He doesn't like pirates something his old friend should have told him but then again, he wouldn't have taken the job. They would still be in his quarters, and he would be telling stories of his youth. It pissed him off even more as he walked through the village. "Ow, before you go blasting that hand of yours. I've got a message from an old friend. He kept his hands to his side as he recited the message.
"Mother rhoyne needs a singer",
"An old crab fights the man of the sea",
"The hero with the light bringer will prevail",
"The long night will vanish only with the hero".
That's all captain Claive could remember. The mage asked for the letter. He read it outside the village square. His hand moved as he crossed his arms in a vex motion fear and uneasiness replaced with annoyance at the mage slow paced read. "Our friend wants me to convince my people to fight his kings battle. We have no choice in the matter since the river rhoyne and the shivering sea connect us".
"Tell him I'll keep my promise". He left just like that. After all this searching and waiting that's all he got. He decided the message could wait he needed a break and Roger seemed willing enough. "Tell me more of your stories", Roger asked as they ate street food to compromise their untimely visit.
