Grief

As soon as Ivan's gaze landed on the body, his breath got caught in his throat, and his chest tightened painfully.

He carefully approached the and knelt down beside the lifeless form. His hands trembled as he gently brushed away some of the debris, revealing the face of the person beneath. The familiar features of one of the caretakers of the orphanage, a woman who had always been there for him, came into view.

Her eyes were closed, her face peaceful, despite the horrific circumstances of her death. She seemed to have wrapped her body around something, as if trying to protect it. Ivan hesitated, before looking under her, only to find the small, lifeless body of a child no older than four or five.

He immediately realized that the woman had tried to use her body to protect the child, probably reassuring him that nothing would happen to him during the building's collapse, but fate proved to be cruel as they both perished under the debris.
