CHAPTER 19

VIXEN’S POV

When I was hurt, I observed Shranaia’s actions and noticed that she was fleeing with Gena and that her nose looked to be filled with blood. I then rested before going to see Ron, Ran, and Rara.

“How was practice?” Rara asked.

“All right,” I said, and he nodded.

“Hi.” I turned around and saw Shranaia.

“Are you okay?” I said, and she nodded and came near to me.

“What are we going to do?” she inquired as I approached her and took her hand in mine.

“I have a small gift for you because you beat me the last time,” I remarked, her countenance surprised.

“W-what is that?” she asked.

I brought her to a forest where the portal led to the human world, and when we arrived, I showed her the entrance, which she found incredible. I looked at Ran and Ron and signaled to them, and they instantly followed me, then opened the door, revealing household stuff within. When we came inside, she looked up and out the window to see if what she was seeing was true. The smile on her lips couldn't be erased, and she surprised me by approaching me again and hugging me.

“I didn’t expect you to do this! Jenny and I shall meet!” she said with a smile, and I agreed.

“But you can’t just go because they could find out we’re here; Rara and Gena will look after Jenny,” I stated, and she nodded in agreement.

“Wait, us?” Rara asked.

“Yeah, you,” I said, and Rara snorted.

“I don’t know anything about this realm; I’ve only just arrived,” she explained, and I stared at Ran.

“Ran will accompany you,” I murmured, and she turned to face Ran.

“Ahhh... I’m not sure I’ll go with them if they have a bond together,” Gena teased.

I only shook my head when I noticed Rara's irritated expression. Shranaia gave her puppy eyes, leading her to sigh and do what she needed to do. “I’ll come as well,” Ron volunteered said.

“He wanted to see, Jenny,” Ran said. “But I wanted to be with you,” he taunted Rara, and we both smiled at what had transpired.

“Grrrr…” Ran exclaimed in response to Rara’s abrupt wailing, and I just chuckled.

I merely shook my head at them and looked at Shranaia before telling her to go relax in the garden. When we arrived at the garden, I couldn’t take my gaze away from her, as if I couldn’t see anybody else except her. I loved her smiles, and even back then, I was simply watching and guiding her where she was and what she was going to do.

While in the garden, I told Shranaia that I would cook for the arrival of Ron, Ran, Rara, and Gena, I just wanted to make that everything was prepared when they got home. I noticed her come in when I was cutting onions, and she perched on a high chair, then watched me while I was doing things. I recall what transpired when she was little, and I was watching for her. She even joins me in the kitchen, despite the fact that she didn’t know how to cook at first.

“What are you going to cook?” she said, and I turned to face her.

“Anything that tastes delicious,” I replied, and she grimaced.

“Adobo? Minudo? Caldereta? Michado? What?” she said, and I chuckled.

“Just watch, little girl,” I said, and she nodded.

Her talkativeness has not been taken away from her, and to be honest, her genuine personality had not yet manifested itself when she was here. She grew more aggressive than before, which is what I admire about her nowadays. She simply sat there watching me until I completed what I was doing, and then she set the table, as well as the plates, spoons, forks, and glasses. When we were finished, Gena and others arrived, then Jenny appeared behind them with her brother Eliot.

Jenny exclaimed, “SHRANAIA!!!”

“JENNY!” Shranaia also screamed, and they hugged. “I missed you so much,” she remarked before crying.

“I missed you more, I won’t give up,” she said, then she whispered, but we heard what it was about. “How is the wolf girl?”

“Doing better?” she said, doubtful.

Jenny said, “Why is there a question mark at the end?”

“Because I’m not sure if what I’m doing is better or not,” she explained, as Gena and Rara approached them.

“She’s doing fantastic, and don’t worry, she’s just like that often,” Rara remarked.

“Am I Shranaia you didn’t miss?” she said, turning to Eliot, who was snorting and ready to hug her when she smacked his forehead. “Awww! I assume you miss me,” he merely muttered, then turned to face me, and I realized he was staring at the food.

“By the way, have you met Gena and Rara?” she asked, nodding.

“Ron and Ran introduced them,” she answered, then she invited them to eat.

“I didn’t expect you to come here; you’ve been gone for a few months, and to be honest, I’m very exhausted from what's going on in my life, especially without Sam and Shranaia fighting for their grades, especially since she’s gone too, also Joel when you disappeared,” Jenny said, and Shranaia simply listened.

“Ohhh! So who is Joel now?” Gena wondered.

“He’s not important,” she just told her and obviously didn't want to talk about him.

“Ohh, Vixen, how are you?” she said, and I smiled back.

“I’m doing fine,” I responded, and she nodded.

“I see…” She gave me a strange look, then I raised my eyebrow at her.

“What was it for?” Shranaia said, and we all turned to face her.

“Nothing,” Jenny and I said, then she winked at me again.

“Are you two in a relationship?” Eliot asked, then Jenny elbowed him.

“Are you dumb, Eliot? Vixen has someone that he loves, and even if he’s more handsome than you, I don’t care because I won't give a shit about him," she said, and Ron smiled.

I went upstairs to relax after we finished dining and left Shranaia to enjoy herself with her companion. Rara, on the other hand, followed me, then inquired about my plans with Shranaia.

SHRANAIA’S POV

While Jenny and I were talking about what had happened since my disappearance, I couldn’t help but wonder what had happened to Samantha and Deacon. I informed her about our activities in the pack and what we were studying. I’m especially concerned about being a Hybrid since I don't know what will happen to me. Because I know it can happen when I become a Hybrid, and I don’t know what I’ll do if it does.

“I remember Ron telling me he was heading to see you; is that true?” I said, then she frowned.

“Did Ron make me a visit without my awareness?” she pondered.

“I-I don’t know,” I said, and she chuckled.

“I don’t care about him, and I don’t want to see his face; it’s not like Vixen’s face though, but I want to do a lot in my life, and I don't want to end up with a half human and half dog,” she added, and I bit my lower lip because of that.

“Awch,” I faked saying, then she turned to face me.

“Oh, sorry,” she said, making a peace sign. “I-I mean, what... ahhh... you know what I mean? I’m just a normal person, but you people are... how can I say it?”

I just sighed and noticed Ron standing just behind the door, listening to what we were talking about. When I stared at him, he turned around, then walked away, and I simply shook my head. “Looks like a broken heart tonight,” I said as I lay down on the bed.

I got up early the next day since I still had school, and Jenny had already returned to their place. I promised her that I would come back when I had time and that everything would be ok. I saw something weird as Gena and I entered the room, and when I looked at what it was, I was horrified by the red rose, then I instantly clutched to Gena, which astonished her, and when we sat down, I pulled my own hair. I don’t why I’m terrified right now, and I’m not sure which of them is delivering the red flower. But it can’t be Vixen since I know he won’t give a rose. He never gave me roses, even when I was little.

“What’s up?” Gena said, and I turned to face her.

“Ahhh... N-no,” I said, and she snorted.

“I saw you were terrified of something when we entered the classroom; what did you see? I didn’t see anything else in the corridor except for the gleaming floor,” she said, and I came to a halt, looking at her again.

“Didn’t notice anything?” I questioned, surprised.

I couldn’t believe what she said, and I don’t know whether I should tell her what I'd seen, but she denied seeing anything. I just answered nothing, and we began class. I can’t get what happened earlier out of my head, but that thing I didn’t just see once, and I know Jenny sees it as well. It was impossible for Gena not to see. Following the session, we were directed to the field where the new pupils were, where we could watch them. I saw Vixen merely staring at the students and turned my attention to a boy with a peculiar energy.

“Did you see that boy towards the end beside the girl in the yellow dress?” I asked Gena, pointing to the boy I was referring to.

“Oh, what’s the matter with him?” she inquired.

“There’s something strange about him, and he doesn’t appear to be from here,” I replied, to which Gena laughed at me.

“All of the candidates aren't from here, Shranaia,” she said.

I simply ignored her and returned my attention to that kid. He looked about him, and I really gasped when he stared at me for no apparent reason. My heart rate increased, and I couldn’t take my gaze away from him. I was like a statue in my spot, and it immediately disappeared as they all penetrated the mirror at the woman’s signal.

His expression on me is strange as if he wants to kill me for reasons I don't understand. I exited the field first, then proceeded to a chair while clutching my left chest. Trembling and fear gripped my chest, and I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I was taken aback when Vixen appeared next to me, then my heart began to race.

“VIXEN!” I yelled angrily, and he chuckled.

“I didn’t intend that that you are being frightened? What happened?” he questioned, and I rolled my eyes at him, signaling my annoyance. “Hey, I’m sorry, okay? I honestly didn’t mean it,” he continued as if his words were going to melt me.

“Ok,” I said as I adjusted my seat. “Nothing happened; I simply want to be alone,” I said, answering his previous query.

“I didn’t see Ron come in today, and he wasn’t in a good mood last night; did anything happen last night, and he acted like that?” he questioned, turning to face me.

I didn’t think Ron would take Jenny’s words seriously, and I didn’t expect him to hear them either. “He heard what Jenny said last night,” I said, sighing.

“And what did she say that put Ron not in the mood now?”

“Because Jenny said she doesn’t like half human, half husky,” I said, trying to not laugh.

“What’s the big deal about that?”

“You know that... how can I explain...” I paused for a second before wincing. “She doesn’t want unhuman like us in a relationship with her.”

“The majority of werewolves ended up with humans.”

“How did their child turn out?”

“Dog,” he joked, and then I hit him gently.

“I want to murder you.”

We walked back inside after passing the time, and as we entered the field, I noticed that everyone was in distress, so Vixen raced and instantly put her palm on a mirror that was lighting up, and I approached Gena while no one was looking.

“What happened?” I ask.

“I don’t know either, but your mirror suddenly lighted up,” she said.

I glanced at what they were about to do, and some light pierced through other glasses, so I went there. I saw a youngster with a very light body when I positioned one of the mirrors, therefore I walked inside the mirror and pulled the child. When I extracted it, I examined his entire body to see whether he was okay, but I saw that he was not breathing.
