13. The Oppositions

Anna POV:

What the heck just happened? When did he enter my room?

While you were in the shower, my conscience mocked me 🙄.

But I don't remember making plans with him nor did I invite him?

I know you are very very very infinity happy, my conscience mocked me again.😏😂

My body just frozed. And he murmured sorry and rushed out of my room.

He was blushing?🤭. What????

The handsome and all great Steve Wills is blushing?

Oh my!!!!! 😂

And that's because of me?

I strike several poses in front of the mirror and keep on telling myself, 'I am so proud of you, Anna Jones'. 😘😂

And just when I was in my loveloveland, my thoughts were broken by the loud ring from my phone. It was my Chief.

Anna: Hello, Chief.

Chief: Oh, Anna, you don't have to bother yourself with Nanny May case anymore.

Anna: What!!! Did they found out the culprits?

Chief: No, but the higher-ups has informed that someone is going to take up the case. I am so sorry to inform you. But I hope the case is resolved soon.

Anna: Why is there the need for someone to replace me when I took the case first? Is this justice? And why are the higher-ups interfering?

Chief: I don't know, Anna but I am afraid you may even lose your internship if you try to go against them.

Anna: Fine!!!😠 I rather lose my job than work there. And please tell those mighty evil higher ups, 'I am not giving up the case. No matter what!!!

Chief: Anna, you don't understand, stay calm and be practical.

Anna: Stop it, Chief. I may be young but I do know the difference between evil and good.

Chief: It's all for your good. Think twice..........

I just cut off the call😑.

Now, all my suspicions have become more real and clear than ever. It's not just a hit and run case.

I am going to get to the bottom of this case.

Psh!!!!😏 Higher-ups!!! Higher-ups!!! Ha! You make me laugh! You all better start digging your graves!

Humph!!!😤 I just lose my internship!🤧

What a great news to start the day with. I dressed up and went downstairs.

I saw Steve talking with my parents. They all look lovely together as if they are family.🥰

My mom called me and and I went to sit with them. I told them about what happened earlier and my mom and dad expressions totally changed.

I know they are really worried about me right now because they have already experienced a lot as senior prosecutors.

I know that if I continue to do this, I will have to put myself as well as my whole family in danger, even my loved ones.

Just when I was about to tell my parents that I won't give up the case until the truth is shed to light.

Steve held my hands and tell my parents that he will protect me and stay by my side until Nanny May get justice for her unfair death.😍🥰 But my parents still don't allow me to take up the case.😡

Mrs. & Mr. Jones POV:

Anna told us that she got replaced by someone as requested by the higher-ups to take up Nanny May case . Of course we want justice for Nanny May but it is so risky.

Anna is so young and we are proud that she is fearless and want to fight for justice but as parents, we don't want to lose our one and only daughter.🤧

Sometimes, our job can even affect our personal lives because we had experienced that too.

The world is evil and only some are good people but it's so rare to find them.

Finding good people among the vast people is like searching for a rare diamond among the dirt.

And Anna doesn't understand that.

And when Steve told us that he will be by Anna's side throughout the whole time, we don't want to put even Steve's life in danger.

No matter how much we want to get justice, sometimes it's not possible, that's just how the world is.

There was a time when we were both young and energetic too. We were so passionate about bringing justice to the world. But sometimes it's not possible, it can even cost your life and even your dear ones.

So, we don't want Anna to go through all those risky tasks. She is just twenty-two and we want her to live a normal life but she insisted on becoming a prosecutor.

She has always been the best daughter but now, we can't let her take up the case. She is our only daughter and we can't afford to lose her or see her getting hurt.

So, we will stop our only daughter and protect her.

Anna POV:

What! My mom and dad didn't agreed? Don't they have a heart? Are their hearts made of stone?

It's not somebody else, it's Nanny May😭, the woman who shaped me, who is like a family to us.

'I want to bring the truth to light.'

How can you say that? Is not that what I should do? Isn't that what we are working for? Aren't you two ashamed of yourself?

Stop it !!! Anna Jones, my dad shouted . That was the first time my dad shouted at me.

What? Couldn't bear to hear it? Wait, let me finish..

You called yourselves senior prosecutors when you don't even want to get justice done since you are afraid of criminals?

I am so ashamed of both of you, Mom, Dad.😭

I never knew you two could be like this. Shouldn't you support me? I don't know what to say anymore.

But just know this. I am not going to give up on the case. No matter what!!!!

And dad said, 'If that's what you really want, then leave the house'.

Wow!!! I am so dumbfounded!

I got kicked out of the house by my role models who I thought to be the most justified people I have ever known.

And you know what? I was so wrong. And it hurts because they are none other than my only family. 😭And the worst was that I got kicked out of the house.

I quit my job, I got kicked out of the house by my parents. And not to mention, Steve is here.

I am so embarrassed right now. I want to dig a hole and bury myself there.😖

This is the best day of my life and I am so happy right now 😏(Note the sarcasm 😂).
