Chapter 2: The Roots of Invisibility

John's feeling of invisibility was not something that had developed overnight. As he looked back on his life, he started to realize that there were certain events and experiences that had contributed to this sense of being unseen.

One of the earliest memories he had was from when he was in elementary school. He had been working on a project with a group of classmates, and he had come up with what he thought was a great idea. But when he presented it to the group, no one seemed to listen. They talked over him, dismissed his idea, and moved on without even acknowledging what he had said. It was like he wasn't even there.

Another experience that had stuck with him was from a family gathering. He had been playing with his cousins, and they had all been laughing and having a great time. As he thought about these and other experiences, John began to see that he had developed a pattern of shrinking back, of not speaking up, of trying to avoid drawing attention to himself. He had learned that it was safer to be invisible, to blend in, than to risk being rejected or ignored.

But now, as he faced his senior year of high school, he knew that this pattern could no longer continue. He needed to find a way to break out of it, to start asserting himself, to find his voice. But how? That was the question that kept running through his mind
