The Pack Meeting.

King? I asked in a confused tone. I am no king, Selene.

She shook her head before shifting. "You are, Birger. As my mate, the moon goddess' mate, you are the king of werewolves. The howls you hear are an instinctive understanding from the human's counterpart that a new king has arrived. The wolf knows."

I shifted back as well and frowned at her. "But… I do not want to be king, Selene. Especially not for such a temperamental race like werewolves."

"You don't have to, my love." She smiled at me comfortingly. "You are a king, wether you lead or not, just as I am the queen."

King of the werewolves? Not just king in name, like Isaiah and the other Continents alphas, but a true king?

"So… just because I'm your mate, I become a king of an entire race? There is more than that, isn't there."

She paused before nodding. "Well, yes. You are very old, Birger. And your wolf is old as well. You were both around before the first were walked the earth, even before I myself was created. You are technically the progenitor. You may be a young werewolf, but both you and your wolf transcend that limit. Not to mention you being an immortal with the World-Ender, Fenrir as your wolf."

"That… is a lot of responsibility, Selene." My frown deepened.

She hugged me softly. Her naked skin brushed across mine as felt her own warmth match my own.

"You do not have to do anything, dear. Being king is but a title. You can e-"

I cut her off. "No… this might be for the best, actually. I will not shy from my responsibilities. Seeing as how we are having issues with rogues, this would be the perfect opportunity to fix it."

I thought for a long moment as I pursed my lips. Rogues have been an issue for longer than I'd like to think about. The Pack Meeting was due in 3 days and this would be the perfect time to confront the alphas.

I would not be a makeshift king. I will be a leader. But I will do it my way.

"I'm gonna make some noise, Selene." I said seriously. "The Pack Meeting will change and I'm sure a lot you know what I'm talking about."

She nodded and opened her mouth to speak but I interrupted her. "No. It will change, Selene. Even before becoming a werewolf, I didn't like the idea of making people rogues. I realize my mindset may be outdated, but I'd prefer putting the dogs down than setting them free with an all you can eat buffet. Seeing Donna was the final straw for me. I don't care about being king, but I will do the best I can for my people. I've not been a werewolf for long, but I've lived amongst them for hundreds of years. Even my descendants are werewolves."

When I finally finished, she stood there for a long moment before smiling softly. "You will be a good king, My love."

A half-sigh half-chuckle came out of my mouth. "Maybe, maybe not. I'll do what I think would be best. Anything past that, I'll have to figure out."

She brought me in and hugged me tightly. "We. We will figure it out."

I chuckled as I hugged her back. "Yes."

I paused as I looked down at her. I rested my face on the top of her head.

"Now, can you change back? Otherwise I won't be able to control myself much longer."

She looked up at me in confusion. "What do you…"

She blushed for a moment before pressing herself against me. "What? You are the king of werewolves~ you are not afraid to take your queen, are you?"

A slight growl escaped my mouth. I picked her up and quickly went back to Frode's lodge.

**???**

"You know…" A young man spoke. "Do we really have to do this?"

The black haired woman turned to him. The man's gaze was fixated upon the world below them, covered with the corpses of its people. The water had turned brown from the blood of its inhabitants, now dead.

"Yes, my love." The woman smiled at him. "You are still of a younger mindset. This is how the world is. The strong decide for the weak."

The young man nodded hesitantly. "Are we… strong? What is strength?"

"Strength is the power to rule over others. Be it wealth, fighting capabilities, or the ability to coerce others." The woman brushed the man's cheek with a closed fist.

The man leaned into her touch slightly. Instead of responding, he simply grunted.

She scoffed. "You're doing that a lot, lately. The grunts. You almost never speak anymore."

He grunted again.

"Do you feel as though I am leading you astray? As though I am betraying you, somehow?"

The young man smiled at her sadly. "I would never think that, my love. I've learned everything from you. Maybe my thought process is different."

She grinned back at him. "It might be. You know I love you, right? My love?"

"I love you too, Flora." The man with no name smiled at the black haired woman as her eyes shone red.

**Birger's POV**

I awoke with a gasp as I clutched my chest.

I was in the spare bedroom in Frode's lodge.

Selene slept soundly next to me.

I wasn't there anymore.

I wasn't the same person.

I took deep breaths to calm myself down.

I had a dream? Me? Since when have I had dreams? And why was it of… her?

Selene stirred under the sheets and I flinched. I got up quickly and drew a bath in the bathroom we had that connected to our room. Afterwards, I shook her to wake her up. She opened her eyes slowly and gave me a tired smile.

"Morning." I said to her.

"Good morning to you too, Stud." She said in a light hearted voice.

I picked her up in a Princess carry. "Are you still tired?"

She placed a hand over her mouth as she yawned. "Yeah~ a little."

I chuckled. "Let's get you in the bath, then I'll make some breakfast."

I stepped into the tub with her on top of me. I washed her first before washing myself. I picked her up again, placed her on the bathroom stool and grabbed a hair dryer that Frode had left for us. After drying her hair, we both walked out and got dressed.

"Hmm. Quite the gentleman." She purred softly.

I finished putting my shirt on and grinned at her. "I try."

Yes, B! Show her what we got! Fenrir rooted for me.

I see you're finally awake.

I was awake the whole time, actually. Didn't want to intrude on your… 'dream' so I blocked you for a bit.

I grimaced. Thanks.

So the pack meeting? What are we doing? You gonna kill 'em all? I could hear his grin.

No, man! My brother's a part of it you know!

Hm. Fair enough. Figured you'd want blood or somethin'.

My brother may not always be right. But he will always be my brother.

He stayed quiet.

I made some food and we ate in silence. Frode came in a few minutes after we finished with Thor trailing behind him.

"Birger, you have a good grandso- who's this?"

Frode stared at her in shock as his eyes turned hazy, most likely talking to his wolf. His wolf probably recognized Selene's. Frode quickly bared his neck and sat on the ground.

Another custom of wolves I'd have to get used to. The Alpha would sit last so as to not be below anyone else and the baring of the neck symbolized a wolf's submission.

"M-Moon Goddess?!" He said in shock and confusion.

His gaze moved to me as I stood up first while Selene stood up after me. "Yes, Frode. Thor, Frode, This is Selene, The Moon Goddess and my mate. Selene, This is my grandson, Frode, and Thor, the God of Thunder."

"Hello again, Thor." Selene said softly and… Angrily?

Thor grumbled. "Fucking Mongrel."

I clenched my hands into fists and leaned forward. "Thor." I said in warning.

He raised his hands up. "Yeah, sorry. Bad habit. I knew she was visiting Fenrir in Helheim where we had him locked up and just called her names to piss her off. Apologies, Birger."

If he wasn't one of my oldest friends I would have killed him. Fenrir wasn't helping with how much he was growling in my mind. He was clawing to get out and tear him apart.

"You locked my mate inside the underworld for thousands of years. I have the right to be upset!" Selene glared at him.

"Oh, please. You could have gotten him out at any point." Thor glared back.

"Yes, I could have. And yet he did not want to leave due to his fate and connection to Ragnarok." She growled. "Do not for one moment forget that he could have killed the lot of you. At any moment. The only reason he hadn't was because of your connection with my mate."

Thor narrowed his eyes. "Fair point. I also do not wish any I'll will amongst the 4 of us. Fenrir is a part of my oldest battle brother. You are the mate of the same. As far as I am concerned, from this point forward, you are allies."

I sighed as I watched the exchange. They both turned to look at me with a cautious gaze while Frode looked curious.

"Well, as long as you guys aren't at each other's throats. And thank you for the apology Thor, but I think you should apologize to Selene, not me."

He nodded and turned back to her. "Apologies, Selene, Moon Goddes and Mother of Were."

He implemented the law of three in his apology.

I grinned at him and slapped him on the back.

"Good man, Thor."

Selene chuckled. "If you're taking it that far, you are forgiven."

"Uh… grandfather?" Frode said hesitantly. "The Pack Meeting is Tomorrow. Will you need to prepare anything?"

"No." I shook my head. "I already know everything I need to."

"Also… are you and… The Moon Goddess… mates?"

I nodded. "Yes. You are unmated, correct?"

He nodded solemnly. "I had one… 50 years ago."

His hands clenched at his sides. He was obviously angry. He was more angry rather than sad.

"…you are angry? That means that something happened and has yet to be resolved."

His eyes widened. "Y-yes… the Antarctic pack leader-"

I held my hand out in front of him. "Say no more. I'll deal with it."

"Grandfather, I don't need, nor do I want you to assist me with this! I can handle it mys-"

"My granddaughter." I said with a glare. "Your mate. I did not know of either of you, and yet you are still my blood. If he think-"

"She is not your granddaughter!" He growled.

My eyebrows rose. He was angry with his mate as well? Oh…

"Did she…"

Selene frowned in disgust. "To think I would pair two such people together. I apologize, Frode. Had I known she would be such a person I would have paired you with someone… better."

Frode nodded and glared at the floor. "Aye. They have been chosen mates for 50 years now."

Thor looked between the three of us in confusion. "I thought mates were chosen by you, Selene? Aren't they supposed to be compatible?"

Selene shook her head. "No. Well, yes. I choose them based off of their life leading up to when they get their wolf. Some things can change, yes, but the bond usually steers them in the correct direction. The fact that Frode's mate did not care means that sh-"

"Is Muthfucking Gold Diggr." Frode finished in English.

I chuckled. "Motherfucking gold digger, Frode."

"Oh."
