Chapter 1: The Baby Has Now Grown

It has been about eleven years after Yukirin's parents' death. As a demon, he managed to survive, and he was found by a librarian who lived in the city. Such a pretty little baby, left on his own in the forest, where he could get attacked by some wild animal. Little did the librarian know that his parents gave him a necklace, which would protect him from any harm. Even after their death, they still managed to protect Yukirin from any damage.

Eventually, the librarian told Yukirin his story, and how he found him in the forest. It was a pretty creepy story, but for him, it wasn't much of a deal. Yukirin didn't consider the librarian, the old and kind man, Arthur Smith, his father, but he was polite and thankful towards him, since he raised that boy just like his son. However, the boy was quite troublesome, despite being raised by such a kind and simple man. His nature was quite aggressive, and he fought at school regularly. The man was always surprised, since that boy never changed.

''Why were you fighting this time?'', Arthur asked with a partially angry tone, waiting for an explanation

''These guys were pissing me off'', Yukirin answered with a certain frustration, since he always says that he is not wrong, ''I was just defending myself!''

''But that's not how you do it!'', he replied with a concerned tone, wondering where that boy would end up if he kept acting like that, ''Yukirin, you can't solve everything with violence''

''Right...'', his reply was filled with frustration, and it seemed like he didn't listen at all

Ever since Yukirin attended school, he couldn't make any friends. No one could ever sympathize for someone as aggressive as him. And that's not to mention the fact that everyone feared him one way or another. Perhaps, being half demon grants him an astonishing physical strength. So, for that's a fact, he spent most of his childhood on his own.

''Yukirin, may I ask you something?'', this time, the principal was also concerned with the boy, after he called him for a conversation

''Sure'', his short reply, showed the principal that he wasn't really interested in having this little conversation

''You don't have many friends, do you?'', now, he had a saddened tone, wondering why he was the only child who didn't have anyone to spend time with, ''Look, if you're having difficulties into making friends, you can ask me or the teachers for help''

''But why would I want friends?'', his reply was now filled with coldness, ''Friends are only a pathetic excuse for someone not to be alone. All that matters is yourself, friends are meaningless''

The principal was shocked with that answer. How could a young boy say something like that? Well, no doubt that boy was somewhat different. Maybe the fights were to make sure no one wanted to be friends with him? However, he couldn't tolerate the fights any longer. So that's why Yukirin is always threatened about being expelled.

He arrived home, frustrated about being threatened again. Does the principal have guts to expell him anyway? It's a shame that it was the fourth threat of this week, so it was sort of pointless. Arthur was already waiting for Yukirin's arrival, while reading a book. The boy put his backpack on the table and sat down, knowing that Arthur wanted to have a serious conversation with him.

''So, how was school today?'', he asked with a polite tone, while still reading his book

''The same as usual...'', the boy replied with his arms crossed, ''It was boring, the others still annoyed me, and the principal threatened me again''

Now, Arthur stopped reading, and he put the book on the table. He let out a sigh of frustration, since it wasn't the first time that Yukirin got threatened. As the one who raised that boy, he should make sure to teach him how to behave. Because if he didn't, Yukirin could be homeless or worse in the future.

''Look, I know that you don't want to discuss this again, but it's for your own good, my boy'', he started with a forced but polite tone, as if he didn't want this to annoy Yukirin

''As I said, it's their fault, not mine'', he was still frustrated, but now, it has grown bigger, ''Maybe they're the ones who should be taught something, huh?''

''Violence is not the answer, Yukirin'', he let out a smile, as if trying to convince the boy to hear him for once, ''People will hate you, and if you keep that attitude, you might not get a job in the future''

Yukirin decided not to listen anymore, so he got up, and was heading towards the staircase. It was really disrespectful, but for him, it was the right thing to do. Before he got upstairs, he gazed into Arthur's direction with a cold expression.

''I don't care if anyone thinks I'm right or not'', that cold tone was severe, which could probably give the shivvers to anyone, ''These guys keep annoying me, so I'll just defend myself if necessary. There is nothing to discuss, Mr. Arthur''

Finally, he went upstairs, while Arthur was in shock, due to how cold Yukirin was as he said that. Such a precious youth was now in possesion of such a evil boy. There wasn't much of what Arthur could do, but feel frustrated about it. Was he a bad father for Yukirin to be acting like that?

As for the boy, he was in his bedroom, wondering why Arthur is arguing with him a lot. It was like no single answer existed. After all, he was completely right into defending himself, so from his perspective, Arthur was just stressed. He laid down on his bedm and looked through the windom in front of him. It was a beautiful night with a full moon. He removed his locket, the same one his parents gave him, but he didn't know about them.

He was raised by a librarian, and he never told Yukirin about his parents. For him, that locket had some sort of emotional value, so he always kept it around. As he was attempting to find a comfortable position, he ended up sleepy, while watching the bright full moon through the window, and it didn't take long before he fell asleep.

Yukirin was already sleeping peacefully, and Arthur came to his bedroom. He saw his locket next to him, while he was hugging it thightly. He had a good heart, he was just feeling defenseless. Or that's what he thought.

''Don't you worry, Yukirin'', he said that after closing the bedroom's door, ''I promise you that I will stay by your side, and show that you have a good heart. I promise..."

The old man went to his bedroom now, feeling extremely tired of what happened earlier. He would be the best father he could be. It was his promise to Yukirin. No matter what it takes, he would raise that boy with lots of love and affection, so he would be someone better, and a sucessful man in the future.
