Buzzing buzzing...
"...not now," murmured from the bed, right beside the clock.
It was finally spring, his favorite season of the year, and the time when he would travel to his uncle's countryside.
Buzzing buzzing...
The clock had been buzzing for nearly 12 minutes since he began counting. Not that he was the best at managing his time, but that sound was truly bothersome, to the point where every brain cell was solely focused on it.
Lying on the bed was Sato, an almost young adult who aspired to be nothing more than a womanizer, having spent almost half of his life within the confines of his bedroom walls.
Loud knock on the door
"...," Sato didn't lift a finger. He buried his face in his bed, feeling the weight of the laziness god on his shoulders.
"I'm coming," with those words, and the door already half-opened, Yuu entered the room. She was his beloved young sister, dressed casually and holding a cup in her hands. She went to the window and opened it, revealing a sunny day outside their house.
Yuu placed the teacup she had brought on the bedside table to the right of Sato. It was a comfortable space for a boy his age to live in, with a double-sized bed for a single person, a good computer, a television in front of him, and everything else taken care of by his sister and parents.
"Hey, you lazy fool," Yuu said, playfully poking her brother's head.
Poke poke poke
"..."
Poke poke poke
"Hey..." Sato grumbled, irritated.
Powerful punch
"What the hell! I was already waking up!" exclaimed Sato after receiving a forceful punch to his head. He glared at his sister, abruptly rising from his bed.
"What the hell! I was already waking up!" exclaimed Sato, his head throbbing from the forceful punch. He glared at his sister, rising abruptly from his bed.
Yuu made a silly, adorable face as if she didn't understand what he was talking about. Of course, Sato could only accept it and remain silent because Yuu was such a lovely sister ❤️.
"You're so foolish. Look at the time! Do you really want to waste the best time of the year in bed?" Yuu teased, playfully bantering with Sato, who was still yawning after waking up.
"Keep acting that way, and only your little sis will continue to love you," Yuu teased further. "Sooner or later, Mom and Dad will have to find you a wife."
Sato didn't bother responding to his sister's teasing and sat back down on the bed. He looked at his smiling sister and reached for the cup of tea on the bedside table.
He took one sip. Then another. And placed the cup back.
He could taste the incredibly robust flavor, likely due to the herbs his sister cultivated in their yard. Fresh things always seemed to taste better.
Lost in his thoughts and finally fully awake, he gazed at Yuu and admired how beautiful she had become over the years.
Yuu, his younger sister by nearly four years, was a close companion. Sato relied on her in many ways, as he had little control over his own life. She had delicate eyes, medium-length black hair, and a soft voice. In Sato's eyes, her body was perfectly balanced, with slender curves and a B-cup chest—nothing that an astute man could resist.
It was amusing how one couldn't discern their age difference based on appearances alone. They seemed to be of similar height and age. Sato, too, had short black hair, and many would consider him handsome for a young man. His body had a normal shape with a modest amount of muscle.
Although Sato knew they had an age difference that most people couldn't discern, he also knew how to tease his sister like no one else did.
"Well then, I'll change," Sato stated in a nonchalant tone, pulling down his pants.
"Oy oy, Sato, what are you doing?!" Yuu exclaimed, suddenly overcome with shyness. Her face flushed red in an instant. "Hey, you idiot, I'm still a girl, you know? Don't just start undressing in front of me in the room."
"Hey, Yuu, what are you doing? You need to change those clothes too. We can't just go out like that," Sato playfully taunted.
"Go change your clothes in your room and take this to the laundry," Sato said, tossing his recently removed pants at her face.
"O-O-Okay," Yuu replied, taken aback by the situation.
As she exited the room, she remembered something. "Don't forget to call Mom and Dad so they know when we leave."
"Yeah, yeah, don't worry about that. I'll call them after breakfast," Sato said, making a dismissive gesture with his hands, urging her to leave.
Today, Sato and Yuu were embarking on their first trip in a while to visit their uncle Otto. They used to travel there frequently when they were younger, and that place held great sentimental value for them.
Sato wasn't too anxious about the trip since he would likely be disconnected from his video games. Internet barely worked at their uncle's house, and even if it did, Otto and his cousins wouldn't allow him to play all day long.
After changing his clothes, Sato descended the stairs for breakfast and discovered that Yuu had already prepared orange juice and an apple pancake, likely using fruits from their garden once again.
Both of them lived with their parents, who were often busy with work, leaving the house occupied until almost 9 p.m. It was a large house with an expansive garden where Yuu and their mother, Yuki, spent most of their free time.
The day before, Sato had checked his phone and noticed that rainy days were forecasted during their trip. It wouldn't be much of a problem, but their initial days at his uncle's house would likely be spent indoors.
Uncle Otto's house was situated in the countryside, almost resembling a farm, in the middle of nowhere. He resided there with Aunt and their three cousins, two girls and a boy. The boy was older than Sato and worked as a manager in a family-owned store in a nearby town.
The place was incredibly refreshing, and when Sato and his family lived there, the five of them were extremely close. They had shed tears when they were forced to separate due to their father's job relocation.
"But it's not like this place is terrible. At least I have Yuu," Sato mused, lost in thought as he daydreamed during breakfast.
Well, the least I can do is visit them and see how they're doing, right?
After breakfast, Sato headed to the bathroom to take a shower before calling a cab to the nearby bus station. They still had enough time, so even if they slept a little longer, they would likely arrive on time.
Upon ascending the stairs to the bathroom, he entered without knocking. To his surprise, Yuu was already bathing in the bathtub.
"Thank goodness I'm quick in these situations," he thought as he closed the door. In a house with only one bathroom, such encounters were common.
He waited for Yuu to finish her bath before proceeding with his own.
It truly felt like an exciting and promising start to their trip. Both of them were eager to arrive and reunite with their extended family.
That day, after teasing his sister and enjoying a delightful breakfast, Sato couldn't help but feel a thrill. It seemed like this trip would become a memorable experience for him.
Little did he know what awaited them in that place...
The telephone rings
"Sato, is that you?" a man's voice came from the other end of the line.
"Yeah..."
"Listen, Sato, your mother and I trust you with Yuu, okay?"
"Hidora is currently experiencing a peak of criminality, you know? Things have gotten really chaotic ever since the mayor's family started paying off local mafia groups. So, make sure you stay out of any dangerous situations and take good care of Yuu."
"But don't worry, Uncle Otto's house is very safe. It's located at a distance from Hidora, so you probably won't encounter any problems while you're there."
"Tell that old dude I miss him. Your mom and I couldn't take time off work, but we're looking forward to joining you two next year."
So Hidora is dangerous these days... I hope we don't encounter any problems while staying with Uncle.
Well, there's not much I can do about it. Mom and Dad don't allow me to have any weapons, so I'll rely on Uncle Otto for protection.
But let's not dwell on it too much. I'm sure we'll have a fantastic time!
Hello, everyone. I hope you'll give my WebNovel a chance. Since this is my first project on the platform, I can't determine if I'm doing well or not, so it would be greatly appreciated if you could provide feedback.
Now, let's talk about the story. I want to prepare you for the fact that some time investment will be required before the plot unfolds. Personally, I enjoy providing intricate details, but I understand that not all readers share this preference.
Rest assured, I am making an effort to strike a balance between providing sufficient detail and avoiding excessive elaboration. It's necessary for me to establish the foundation that allows me to shape the story according to my vision.
I encourage you to keep in mind that this work is primarily a slice of life narrative before it delves into the realm of fantasy. This understanding will make your reading experience more enjoyable and seamless.
