Chapter 2 The elderly couple 1

I was startled but the touch was comforting, I took the handkerchief, turned back and said thank you but I couldn't see the face clearly of the person who offered me the handkerchief but I saw an elderly man and woman.

An hour later I was touched again, when I turned back I was offered an apple by the elderly man, I shook my head rejecting it and politely thanking him for his offer.

The elderly woman asked me, when last did you eat something? I was surprised because come to think of it I couldn't remember when last I ate...24 hours ago or more. Ah don't remember, all I can remember was what I saw and heard....what I felt at that moment ...

I suddenly realised I spaced out and I had not answered the elderly woman, I quickly apologised and told her I was not hungry and thank her again for her concern.

she smiled gently, took the apply from the man and offered it to me again, I hesitated but accepted it so as not to seem rude. ..of course I didn't eat it, I just kept it in my bag.

I noticed the clouds where clearing and realized it was almost morning, looking at the time on my phone it was 4:01am...we were almost at city F. I signed and closed my eyes red and heavy wondering what lies ahead for me. I must have dozed off because the next thing I knew a hand shook me, when I opened my eyes, the elderly man said we are here.

I quickly picked up my handbag and knapsack, made my way to the front entrance and got off the bus...I stood for about a minute wondering what to do or where to go.....

I was pushed from behind by a guy ...hey got out of the way he said eyeing me, I looked around seeing people moving about, going and coming at the bus terminal. I moved towards a bench and sat down.

okay so I didn't think this through, I just upped and packed a few essentials things and boarded the next available bus....no plan, not enough money, probably enough to pay a cheap hotel for a few days until I get a job then what ?

lost in my thoughts, I noticed a shadow right in front of me ...I lifted my head to see an elderly couple, the same one from the bus looking down at me.

I looked around to be sure it was me they were looking at, the elderly man spoke up..

it's not safe to be here at this time, don't you have someone coming to pick? or you want to take a taxi?

I stood up and answered, no Sir ...the couple looked at each and the elderly woman asked.. no to which one?

No to both ma'am I said wondering why they have not left, we arrived almost 45 minutes ago.

Why dont you come with us the elderly man asked , I was surprised and before I could answer a younger man suddenly showed up beside them, his face tensed and said I don't understand what going on here, let's go father and mother, you must be tire from your journey.

I have told you before you came down from the car, that you cannot just pick up a stranger and go home with, I don't care how pitiful she looks.

And an argument started between the elderly couple and their son, I moved to the side watching ....he should be in his early twenties, looks very much like his father but slightly shorter ....

He looked very angry now, and I felt it was time to move away, I don't want to cause problems for them...

so I started to quietly move away...suddenly I heard the elderly man say ..and where do you think you are going young lady ?
