Chapter 7

"Number 10"

When number 10 was called out, a young man dressed in all black stepped forward. He wore what looked to be a fusion between a bulletproof vest & a biker jacket. He also wore sweatpants with what looked to be boots.

The young man approached the orb with confidence. And placed his hand on it, after a moment it began to make a sound.

Wiiiinnng!

Shortly after the orb changed its color to red. And everyone gasped. Amidst all of this, you could see the young man smirk as though he expected all of this. Every time someone touched the orb it would react by returning a color. A Green shine meant one was a forma user, a Red shine meant one was an Alter and a Golden shine meant one was a Unique. If one's power was too low to even be detected it won't ever react.

"He's an alter?"

"Sometimes God has favorites."

"Yes….His future is practically set by now."

The crowed muttered in envy. Although Alters weren't necessarily stronger than formas. They certainly had better chances for opportunities. Recruiters just preferred them more.

"Jet, Energy User." Shouted Elias.

"…!"

People gasped again, this time more dramatic. Energy users or manipulators were some of the best super powers that one could have out there. It meant that they could take a chance to learn Magic or Cultivation. To learn Magic one needed to have an affinity with various energies. They could then utilize the standard Magical energy or any energy they felt applicable for their spells. The same concept applied to cultivation, one needed to be efficient in manipulating energies and have the affinity to utilize a cultivation technique. But unlike magic, the amount of energies that cultivators could use was restricted because a single imbalance could lead to a lot of problems.

'Heh I'm a natural born alter, many in this group can't compare to me' thought Jet. His pride in his power type was well placed. Jet was born a rather talented kid. His dream was to become an aviator. And he trained and practiced every day in his life. Then one day his hard work payed off when he got his Alter powers. If he got into a good team, his future was all but set. Being an Alter made that process smoother.

At this point, tester number 14 had just found out his power type. He was a forma. He had the power to phase through things. Although it wasn't an impressive ability with training he could become an indispensable asset. He only wondered if he could chase his dreams, like all other youths here. He wanted to be an aviator.

"Number 15"

'Finally' thought Greyham. His name had finally been called out. The wait alone had been way too long for him. He stood up and approached the orb under the gazes of the people in the room. He drew attention since he floated to his location. When he arrived in front of the Orb he realized it seemed larger than it was when you saw it up-close.

It seemed dead and almost hollow with what seemed to be a milky smoke fluidly existing within the orb floating about like an object in space. Greyham placed his hand on the orb and after a moment it began to glow.

Waaaaannnggg!

The orb glowed in a golden soft glow however in a moment the golden shine and grown stronger.

"Greyham, Energy Matter….Manipulation." Elias who had read out the information returned by the Orb hardened his face.

"…!"

"What…He's a Unique?"

"A Unique...you don't see these every day."

The people in the group muttered. And many them reacted they same way the react with Jet's results. Some gazed at Greyham with greed, others with envy. A unique power type was always going to be a special type of power because it afforded one some advantages. There are many precedents of Forma becoming Unique. Therefore one could see the power type classification as a stage process. With Formas being stage 1 and Unique being the final stage of power evolution. Even non-combatant unique were not simple individuals. The problem with Unique was that they all seemed to have 'God Rolled' excellent genes because none of those who had such powers had a simple combination of abilities. This wasn't something that the masses understood. All they knew was that a person who was a unique could do what a forma and alter could do. But they never thought of the following words "and more"

This is why the more experienced individuals of the group had hardened faces. They not only understood what it meant to be a unique. But they also understood what an Energy Matter Manipulators was.

Greyham on the other hand didn't understand what energy matter manipulator was let alone what it meant to be a unique but he was excited at the thought of being a unique. To him, it only meant that he had the power to do what he loved much better. These were his thoughts as he moved back to his seat.

Jet tried not to show it but he was envious of Greyham. He knew several figures with such an ability and none of them were simple. 'However if I train hard enough I'll eventually break into the unique class.' To begin with alters with very good energy affinity could already be called a Unique if they mastered one of the biggest skills in the universe. Magic or cultivation was a good choice. They could cover of their short comings this way and subsequently work their way up from there.

President Leon had almost chocked on his drink when he saw Greyham's orb glow. 'I was so sure he would be an alter but a unique… ' Leon was no stranger to Unique's. Since limitless was a galactic organization, as its president he had seen his fair share of such people. His only problem with Unique's were that they were all pain in the necks. He had yet to meet a proper one among all he owns. To begin with as President of such an organization, he was supposed to have even developed a large belly due to the comfort of the position, yet the Unique's in his organization kept him busy. Otherwise he would never travel so much, the universe was a dangerous place who would want to move around it so much?

"This is going to be interesting." Said Skylar observing Greyham.

Greyham didn't know why but he felt a shiver travelling down his spine. It was at that moment that someone approached him. It was Jet.

"Mr. Greyham, Congratulations. Being a unique means that you must be a blessed individual with excellent skills." Praised jet. Even though he wasn't a judgmental person. When he saw that Greyham was floating on his chair while it looked as though he was sitting on it. He thought it was very weird.

"Thank you Mr. Jet, I'm not that good at anything yet but I try, also being an Alter yourself must mean your aren't a simple individual." Responded Greyham with a smile.

Jet's face folded as his lips were pulled up into a grin. He could not help it. He was weak to praise.

"Ha-ha I see that you are humble, if I get an opportunity I'd like to see what a unique can do on the field."

"No worries, if the opportunity comes, I'll be sure to look for Mr Jet." Said Greyham. Jet simply nodded after he heard that and subsequently walked away. He was a believer in making connections. One of the first lessons his father taught him early in his life was that 'A friend in the right place was a good investment.' And that lesson had yet to fail him so far.

The test ended anti-climatically not long after Greyham. A majority of the people here were forma and one seemed to have a power level so low that even the orb could not detect anything from him. These kinds of people could not even be given a power classification. They could only be called evolved and that was it. They were evolved but really, not much better than other beings.

Before the end of the event, Leon sent a messenger to Greyham. He wanted to see Greyham in his office. When the test ended, Greyham headed towards the office.

'What can an energy matter manipulator do?' he wondered. He had seen many different powers on TV and in the limitless in facilities during his physical therapy. Seeing as how he had never manifested his power or done anything strange so far outside of flying and floating. He had no idea what this power could do for him and the best person to ask was the most knowledgeable evolved he knew President Leon.

When Greyham got to the office he found President Leon sitting next to a red hair woman.

'Huh I've never seen her before, is that his girlfriend? ' Greyham had ever seen Leon with a women outside of his employees. But even with them he kept it formal and no funky behaviors or jokes. He only seemed to really loosen up when he was with him or some of the other evolved around the facility like Dr. Elias.

He walked in and gave a greeting to both of them.

"Ha-ha look at my little unique? I'm so happy for you how do you feel." Asked Leon with a wide smile on his face.

"I'm alright, it just feels unreal. Never thought this could be me." Greyham sighed as he thought about it. Living at an orphanage, especially Windhelm Orphanage, he never thought he would be here, with the likes of Leon, withstanding the envy of many. He was still trying to get used to it.

"Ha-ha don't worry. It will get better with time. Grey I'd like for you to meet someone." Said Leon as he guided Greyham towards Skylar.

"Meet Skylar Brightburn. A reputable Aviator captain and All Star."

"…!" The name and rank of the person in front of him passed by Greyham's one ear and floated the other side. He only caught one thing. 'All Star' Aviator all stars were the best in the competition. If he remembered correctly a woman with red hair. Greyham scrutinized Skylar and in a moment his eye's widened in realization.

She was the Dragon Queen. "Sky, the Sky Dragon." He Greyham muttered.

"Kikiki, You know how I am?" Skylar laughed coquettishly. "Are you a fan?" she asked.

Skyla's laugh is a bit wierd right?
