Chapter 51: Unrest Until I See My Sister

"It's not that; these are for my sister Yiling." As Jian Yujie panted while moving items with the driver and servant, he responded to his grandmother's question.

"For Yiling? What did you buy her?" Grandma Jian was puzzled, wondering what Yujie had bought that was so much.

"There are lots of plush toys. Yiling must have some at home, but she probably didn't bring any when she moved here. So I bought a few to keep in her room. Also, there are some bags and stationery."

Last night, after school, Jian Yujie had gone shopping and spent all his money. Although the children in the Jian family received a good amount of red envelopes from their elders each year, Yujie's savings were quite limited. His mother disapproved of him becoming a magician, so he had to secretly spend his own money on magic-related items. Once she found out he was using his money for that, she stopped giving him an allowance, opting instead to buy him what he needed herself.

"Good! Just remember to buy for your sister. What about me? Don't I get anything, Grandma?" Grandma Jian teased Yujie.

"Grandma…" Yujie was a bit embarrassed.

"Alright, alright, I'm just teasing you. You should spend more time with your sister; she hasn't been sleeping well lately."

Grandma Jian thought that Yiling simply wasn't getting enough sleep.

"Yiling hasn't been sleeping well? Then I'll buy her some calming aromatherapy, and I heard herbal tea helps with sleep too, and…"

Jian Yujie started to brainstorm sleep aids in his mind and made a shopping list.

"Okay, okay, it sounds like you think I'm mistreating your sister! The things you're thinking of are already at home. I've had someone arrange them for Yiling," Grandma Jian couldn't help but laugh. How could she just stand by while her little darling was having trouble sleeping?

Feeling embarrassed, Jian Yujie scratched his head. He knew with Grandma around, Yiling wouldn't lack anything.

"By the way, is Yiling up yet? Is she still sleeping in?" Yujie stood at the door, not seeing his sister's figure.

"She's still in bed; she went over to the Yu family quite a while ago!"

"Eh? So early? Isn't the party in the afternoon?"

"Yuxi came over to take Yiling out to play; I didn't stop them."

Upon hearing this, Jian Yujie immediately envisioned the mischievous face of Zhai Yunsheng.

"Grandma, I'm going over to the Yu family now! Please have someone take my things to Yiling's room!"

As he ran off, he called back to his grandmother.

Grandma Jian found him both amusing and exasperating. This boy couldn't wait for a second when he heard his sister had gone next door.

Jian Yujie rushed into the Yu family's residence, where no guests had arrived yet for Yuxi's party.

"Yujie, why are you here?" The butler of the Yu family recognized him.

"Where's my sister?" Jian Yujie asked anxiously.

"Miss Yiling is resting. The young master asked that we let her sleep for a while and not disturb her."

To ensure Yiling could sleep better, they had arranged for her to rest in the Rose Pavilion, the farthest room from the main hall.

"Where is it? I want to see her." Jian Yujie was skeptical of the butler's words.

How could he know if they were telling the truth? He needed to see her for himself.

Yuxi was nice, but that Zhai Yunsheng looked like someone who could pull off anything.

"Yujie, this…" The butler seemed a bit troubled.
