Chapter 81 Behind The Scene
Fury and Natasha Romanoff had yet to receive any news, so they reluctantly rose from their seats to bid their farewells.
As they stepped out and settled into the car, Natasha started the engine and turned to Fury. She asked, "Is he... still credible?"
Fury maintained silence, casting a sidelong glance at Leon, who stood by the door, offering a smile and a wave. But he responded, "I'm not sure."
Leon feigned disinterest, pretending he couldn't overhear their conversation. He waved goodbye, patiently waiting for them to drive away before turning back and heading inside.
Once back inside the house, Leon's countenance shifted like water, his hand rising to conjure a vibrant crimson aura. This was the power of the Reality Gem, and as the brilliant red energy spread throughout the room, it rendered everything within transparent.
With his Super Vision ability, Leon meticulously examined every nook and cranny, searching for any surveillance devices or monitors. His earlier negligence had prevented him from thoroughly investigating the owner of this house. If he so wished, he could employ his Hypnotic Ability to manipulate the agency's personnel and follow the leads to apprehend everyone involved. However, that seemed too troublesome, and given his nearly invincible status, he opted not to pursue that course of action. Yet, it appeared circumstances might necessitate it in the future.
After a while, Leon concluded that there was nothing amiss in the entire villa. It seemed Fury and his associates were quite cautious. Leon nodded in satisfaction and settled into seat, deep in thought.
After a moment, it dawned on him. The arrival of Fury and Natasha had a hidden agenda. Leon had mysteriously vanished for six months, and during this time, only Tony Stark knew of his whereabouts in Kamar-Taj. However, because Leon had traveled to the Himalayas independently, even Fury's extensive resources couldn't uncover his destination.
Leon and Tony had subsequently caused a major incident at Capitol Hill upon his return. Following that, Stark Industries announced the closure of its weapons division. Leon couldn't help but chuckle bitterly, realizing why Fury had personally intervened.
Adding to this, the conversation between Natasha Romanoff and Fury in the car before departing confirmed their concern about Leon's activities over the past six months. While Leon had no intentions of harming Earth, his mission was to eliminate the significant threat posed by Dormammu, a matter he couldn't disclose, given its intricate ties to the mystical realm.
"Regardless, once the smartphones are launched, they'll realize that dominating the global market with cutting-edge technology far surpasses mere arms sales," Leon firmly believed.
Even Tony and Pepper Potts understood this. The logic was straightforward: if Tony remained solely a weapons dealer, he would be limited to working with one nation's military, constrained by pricing and demand. He would have to navigate government bureaucracy and compete with companies like Hammer Industries.
It was simply exhausting.
Now, with his focus shifted to selling mobile phones—non-lethal, non-threatening products—Tony could collaborate with individuals and organizations worldwide, unburdened by political entanglements.
With seven billion people in the world, even if only 1% of them purchase their mobile phones, the demand would be substantial.
Moreover, this is the latest smartphone, and they have complete control over its pricing. It's a choice between making money through hard work or effortlessly counting profits. How would you hesitate?
...
Just three days later, the Stark Group finally held a unique press conference. This marked the first time that the Stark Group, known as a prominent arms dealer, ventured into the mobile phone industry.
The outside world was taken aback; some hadn't even recovered from the shock of Stark Group's unexpected decision to shut down its weapons department. A few assumed it was a prank by the unconventional Stark Group.
Eventually, people regained their composure. In a single morning, Stark Group's stock almost plummeted below market value. Surprisingly, just before the market was about to close, a mysterious entity appeared and bought up all the previously sold stocks at once.
However, as the stock price neared a breaking point, this enigmatic force ceased buying. Some astute individuals interpreted this as a signal that someone was trying to profit and run, prompting more people to sell their stocks in a rush. The stock market's peculiar dynamics diverted attention away from the press conference.
Even later, the mysterious force didn't reappear, reinforcing suspicions. People began losing trust in Stark Group, and many sold their shares, causing the stock's value to plummet.
Yet, just as it was about to hit rock bottom again, Stark Group's stock experienced a dramatic surge, with someone purchasing all the shares in one fell swoop. The situation was perplexing.
Some discerning individuals began to notice patterns, and a few cautiously bought back some shares. However, the stock prices had skyrocketed, making it unwise to buy high and sell low.
Meanwhile, some who had sold twice before were jubilant and continued selling their shares.
This time, the mysterious force acted decisively. They would sweep up any available shares without hesitation. Behind the scenes, this force manipulated the stock prices, maintaining the highest opening price and then buying up every share.
It wasn't until three o'clock in the afternoon that the stock market finally stabilized. By then, virtually all of the Stark Group shares held by individual investors had been sold, effectively leaving the entire nation with no ownership stake in the company.
To be frank, the person behind these actions must be a formidable business magnate. Yet, no one could have imagined that the masterminds were just two individuals and the teams they led—Leon and Tony.
As the two largest shareholders in the history of Stark Group, they paid no heed to the press conference news and instead feverishly bought their own shares.
Leon glanced at Tony, and Tony responded with a toast and a smile.
"Starting tomorrow, Stark Group's stock value will increase by at least 100 times."
Even if they spent tens of billions or even hundreds of billions today, they would likely recover thousands of trillions, or even more in the near future.
Investing in the stock market carries risks; it's essential to exercise caution when entering the market.
