Chapter 29 Caught by Miss Potts
After rescuing Mr. Ho Yinsen, Tony decided not to take him home but to leave him at a nearby safe location before flying away.
Tony had already attracted the attention of the nearby army, especially when they realized he was heading straight towards a certain country. The air force was prepared to intercept him.
But let's not forget about Leon lurking in the shadows.
To avoid unnecessary trouble, Leon chose to take Tony and disappeared at a speed faster than light.
The world lost track of Tony immediately, and no one knew that he had returned to the basement of his home.
With the help of a robotic arm, Tony struggled to remove the battle suit. It was still in its early development stage, requiring numerous improvements.
Wearing the battle suit was a cumbersome process and nearly impossible without the assistance of a robotic arm, unless Leon was willing to help.
"Hey, did you see what I just did?" Tony, still excited, showed Leon his recent accomplishment.
However, he had approached the wrong person. Who did he choose? Should he ask Leon?
Leon smiled at Tony, sitting honestly at Tony's desk with a bottle of beer in hand. He had been helping himself to Tony's wine stash lately.
Since Leon had an extraordinary physique, he could consume large amounts of alcohol without getting drunk. After all, his abilities were on another level.
Tony gazed at his wine cellar in a daze. It wasn't an ordinary cellar; the wine stored there could purchase an entire villa.
As a qualified playboy, Tony couldn't do without sports cars, beautiful women, and fine wine.
But as long as Leon continued to reside there, Tony wouldn't be able to collect good wine anymore. Giving him beer was a waste, as he couldn't get drunk anyway.
"Should I applaud or commend you?" Leon asked.
Tony had only left the armor on his feet and shrugged, arms open. "Well, I didn't say anything."
He remembered that Leon wasn't an ordinary person; he was an alien, a colossal monster in his true form.
Was it worth showing off to him? Forget it. Leon could fly, surpassing Tony's speed even in his steel battle suit.
Moreover, just the thought of Leon's Heat Ray, capable of slicing through mountains, made Tony realize there was no comparison.
At the current level of technology, they were far from being equals.
However, if Tony didn't show off to Leon, he felt a slight itch, as if he were walking in silk at night without any satisfaction.
He wasn't a traditional superhero; it would take a long time and many experiences before Tony became a fully qualified superhero.
Therefore, he wasn't the type of person to perform good deeds anonymously. He especially desired recognition and the feeling of being admired and praised by others, surrounded by flowers and cheers.
Leon seemed to sense Tony's thoughts, glancing towards the laboratory's entrance, particularly the stairs leading upstairs, but said nothing.
The next moment, a figure descended the stairs, opened the studio's electronic door, and witnessed Tony's situation.
A coffee cup shattered as Potts, dressed in a white shirt and skirt, stood there in disbelief, staring blankly at Tony.
Tony heard the voice and turned to look, feeling a bit helpless, but his face was brimming with uncontainable joy and excitement. He smiled at Pepper Potts, wearing a peculiar expression, and spread his arms.
"Surprised?" he asked.
Pepper Potts covered her mouth with one hand, pointing upstairs behind her in astonishment and exclaiming, "Oh my God, Tony! Are you telling me that the armored man on TV is you?"
Tony didn't seem to have any intention of hiding it, especially since Pepper Potts had already seen him remove his steel battle suit with her own eyes. Was there any need to keep it a secret?
So Tony simply admitted, "It's me."
"Oh my God, are you hurt?" Without wasting a second, Pepper rushed over to Tony, her hands trembling as she checked him for any injuries.
Tony's heart warmed.
Don't be fooled by Tony's playboy persona; deep down, he was sensitive and caring. There were very few people he trusted, and this young woman was indeed a rare genius and wise person, earning Tony's utmost respect.
In Tony's heart, he never looked down on someone just because they excelled in a different field. It had probably offended many people along the way.
But those who managed to get close to Tony, and those he trusted, Pepper Potts was one of them—a trusted companion of the opposite sex.
Leon observed the two of them whispering and couldn't help but silently bless them. He found Pepper Potts beautiful but didn't entertain any other thoughts or desires.
The two of them had a secret relationship for a long time, but they hadn't made it official yet. They were only a thin layer of paper away from taking that step. What else could Leon do?
"Jingle Bell."
Suddenly, the sound of a ringing phone came from Leon's pocket.
Leon didn't mind being someone's bodyguard and made a gesture to silence the boss.
Tony rolled his eyes. This was his house, and he was the boss, after all.
But in the end, Tony compromised and signaled to Pepper Potts to remain quiet.
He had a good idea of who was calling—Obadiah.
As expected, it was him. Leon picked up the phone and spoke directly in front of Tony, "Mr. Obadiah, have you made up your mind?"
Obadiah's voice came through the phone, "A hundred million is too much."
"Is that so?" Leon replied, sounding like he was about to hang up. He wanted to project an air of indifference and show that he didn't care much.
Obadiah couldn't remain calm any longer and asked angrily, "Is that really Tony on TV?"
"It couldn't be me, right? Do you think he would give me control over this kind of equipment?" Leon criticized Tony directly, almost pointing at his nose and calling him stingy.
Tony opened his mouth, but he couldn't deny that he was a little self-centered.
He never denied having some character flaws.
But so what?
He was arrogant, narcissistic, and held himself in high regard, looking down on everyone else. But he had the means to back it up. Wasn't that enough?
Certainly, in front of Leon, all that so-called means became useless.
So he always shrank in front of Leon, including now, having to endure his scolding face-to-face. How could he defend himself?
Pepper Potts, who was standing by, was also dumbfounded.
By the way, wasn't Leon supposed to be Tony's bodyguard?
