Eyes in the dark

Jacquelyn yawned, stretching her body tiredly. The day had really been exciting, long, and stressful, but it was all worth it. Though darkness now covered the sky, the inside of the castle wasn't dark at all. Every room and passage was lit up, making the place bright.

"I should go bathe," Jacquelyn muttered, turning to climb the stairs.

Griselda followed her, "I'll draw the water for you and also wash your hair myself."

"Yes!" The idea excited Jacquelyn for a few seconds, but then she remembered the mark she found on her chest. Griselda would kill her if she saw something like that. Jacquelyn was still trying to figure out where it came from since she couldn't remember anything from yesterday.

Griselda raised her eyes. "Why aren't you moving?"

Thinking fast, Jacquelyn bit her lip nervously. Then her stomach rumbled. She grinned.

"I'm so hungry, Grisie. I haven't had a good meal in days." She yawned, trying to sell it.
