1.Are You Lost Baby Girl...

We drive out of the city. On our way to Fort Benning.Where Shane says we have to go.

A few hours later...

The sound of Daryl's bike is all you can hear it's so loud, but I love the sound of it. It gives you that rush feeling in your stomach of being free.

I was driving behind Rick. We come to a highway full of vehicles standing everywhere blocking the path. The RV stop and Daryl nod his head at something Dale must have said.

Daryl passed by me.

"Hey, what's going on."

"The road kinda blocks but I'm gonna lead y'all through. Just follow Rick."

I nod my head. So many abandoned cars everywhere. There must be a lot of stuff in the cars we might need.

I snap out my thoughts when a sound went off. I see the RV stop.

I got out of my truck to see what the problem is.

First I take my Daggers and Machetes.

"I said it. Didn't I say it? A thousand times. Dead in the water."I hear Dale complain about the RV.

"Problem, Dale?" I ask him looking around.

"Just a small matter of being stuck in the middle of nowhere with no hope of-- Okay, that was dumb."He answers me. Look embarrassed because of his last statement.

"If you can't find a radiator hose here... There's a whole bunch of stuff we can find."Daryl says looting the nearby car.

Wasting no time, aren't we?

"I can siphon more fuel from these cars for a start,"T-Dog says to us

"Maybe some water," Carol said

"Or more food, Melody was kind to give us some but we need more," Rick says smiling at me.

"This is a graveyard. I don't know how I feel about this."Lori complains. Everyone looks at each other.

"All right, all right, here we go, "I say walking away to get busy.

"Come on, y'all. Just look around, gather what you can."T-Dog says.

Flies buzzing everywhere. It smells like shit. I walk further away from the group. Looking for things we might need.

I was about to open the door of a Truck when someone put their hand on my mouth to stop me from screaming. I try to get out of their hold when I was turned around.

Blue eyes staring at me.

"Shh," His hand on my mouth is gone.

I look confused at him. He turns his head right.

What I see makes my heart skip a beat. Herd of Zombies coming our way.

He opens the door of the truck push me in and closes it behind him. We lay in the back seat. Me on my back and him on top of me covering me from the Walkers.

I slowly breathe in calming down my beating heart. He looks down at me. His eyes are so breathtaking. It feels like he is looking into my soul.

The last Walker went by. Daryl climb out pulling me with him.

"We have to go help T-Dog, He got hurt."

"Okay." I follow him to T-Dog.

T Dog looks pale and holding his bleeding arm.

I quickly act and help Daryl to take him to the RV.

Lori was comforting a sobbing Carol and Rick was nowhere to be seen.

I help Daryl lower T at the RV.

"What happened?"

"Sophia was about to get out under the car, but it was too early. There were two walkers passing by."Lori explains hugging Carol.

"They...chase her into the forest, Rick ran after her, "Carol says sobbing.

"Damn, I would follow them but T-Dog needs my help," I say sadly.

"It's fine dear,"Lori says smiling sadly

I walk to my truck to get my Medical aid bag.

I walk to T and sit in front of him on the cement floor.

I clean his wound with disinfectant alcohol.

"Shit" He cried out.

"Sorry, I have to clean it first before stitching it up,"I say working on the wound.

He grunts when I start to stitch it up.

"Damn, We have ourselves a doctor and a badass soldier in one," Glenn says looking impressed.

I cover up the wound.

"Here, eat this and then drink this for the pain." I give him canned beans and painkillers

I stand up and take off the gloves I put on before working on his wound.

"Nice job, Mel" T says smiling up to me.

"No problem." I turn around when I hear Rick walking back to us.

"Where is she?"Carol asks looking at Rick with a broken expression on her face

Her baby girl isn't with Rick.

"She didn't come back?"Rick asks looking confused and sad.

"No!" Carol yells at him and walks away to the RV going inside.

"Daryl, Glenn, Melody, and Shane, come with me."

We follow him to the place where he told Sophia to hide.

"Sure this is the spot?"I ask Rick.

"I left her right here. I drew the walkers way off in that direction up the creek."He explains showing us the spot.

"Without a paddle-- seems where we've landed, "Daryl says moving away from the spot.

"She was gone by the time I got back here. I figured she just took off and ran back to the group. I told her to go that way and keep the sun on her left shoulder." Rick says tiredly.

This sucks, where could she be.

I kneel down and follow the trail of footprints.

"Hey, short round, why don't you step off to one side? You're mucking up the trail."Daryl says to Glenn.

Short round.Hahaha

Glenn looks so lost right now.

"Assuming she knows her left from her right," Shane said to Rick.

"Why are you always this negative asshole?"I ask Shane to stand back up.

He glares at me.

"Shane, she understood me fine," Rick says getting his attention back on him.

"Kid's tired and scared, man. She had a close call with two walkers. Got to wonder how much of what you said stuck."He says looking at Rick.

He is testing me.

I follow Daryl to study the prints more.

"Got clear prints right here. She did like you said, headed back to the highway."I say to Rick before Daryl could.

He looks at me may be wondering how I know that.

"Let's spread out, make our way back. She couldn't have gone far."Daryl says snapping out of his thoughts.

"Hey, we gonna find her. She'll be tuckered out hiding in a bush somewhere."I say putting a hand on Rick's arm to comfort him.

"She was doing just fine till right here. All she had to do was keep going. She veered off that way."Daryl says look at the ground where her footprints are.

"Why would she do that?"Glenn ask.

"Maybe she saw something that spooked her, made her runoff,"I say walking further to follow the prints.

"A walker?"

" I don't see any other footprints. Just hers."

"So what do we do? All of our press on?"Shane ask.

"No, better if you and Glenn get back up to the highway. People are gonna start panicking."Rick answers him.

"Let them know we're on her trail doing everything we can. But most of all, keep everybody calm."I say backing up Rick's statement.

"I'll keep 'em busy scavenging cars. Think up a few other chores. I'll keep 'em occupied. Come on."Shane says walking away.

We follow the tracks of Sophia.

"Tracks are gone," Rick says hopelessly.

"No, they're faint, but they ain't gone,"I say looking down.

"She came through here," Daryl says crouching down studying the prints.

"How can you tell? I don't see anything."Rick tries to find the track again.

" Dirt, grass. You want a lesson in tracking or you want to find that girl and get our ass off that interstate?"Daryl asks Rick annoyed by all the questions.

The leaves rustling.

We crouch down and see a walker walking not so far away from us.

Daryl tells us to split up. Rick goes to get the walker's attention.

Rick whistles at the walker. It roars at him.

Daryl quickly shoots it in the head. He looks so hot with that crossbow, damn.

"Sophia!" I yell.

"What are you looking for?" We see Rick inspecting the walker.

"Skin under the fingernails. It fed recently. There's flesh caught in its teeth." He put his finger in the walker's mouth.

Gross. I look around watching for any walkers.

"Yeah, what kind of flesh?" I ask gross-out.

"Only one way to know for sure."

"Wait, what?."I ask looking at Rick taking out his small pocket knife.

"Here, I'll do it. How many kills your skin and gut in your life? Anyway, mine is sharper." Daryl says taking out his big knife.

Well, shit, He is right about that and he is much bigger than Rick's knife.

Daryl starts to cut the walker's stomach open.

Holy shit. He makes it look so easy and normal.

"Now comes the bad part," Daryl says putting his hand in the walker's stomach. Feeling inside and taking guts out.

I was trying not to vomit right there. The smell makes it worse. I put my mask on to cover my nose from the smell. I don't know if I will ever get used to that rotten smell.

"Yeah, he had a big meal not long ago. I feel it in there."

"Here's the gut bag."

"I got this," Rick says taking his knife and starting to cut open the gut bag.

"This gross bastard had himself a woodchuck for lunch. At least we know."Daryl says looking closely at what comes out of the gut bag.

"At least we know."I and Rick say at the same time.

We walk back to the highway. Carol is not gonna like this, this will break her heart.

"Oh God, they're back." I hear Glenn says when we climb over the railing.

" You didn't find her?"Carol asks crying.

" Her trail went cold," Rick says

"We'll pick it up again at first light, "I say with sympathy to her.

" You can't leave my daughter out there on her own to spend the night alone in the woods."

"Out in the dark's no good. We'd just be tripping over ourselves. More people get lost."I say to her.

"But she's 12. She can't be out there on her own. You didn't find anything?"

"No, and don't underestimate your daughter. She is smart. She was on the right path but something scared her."I say at Carol getting a bit annoyed.

"I know this is hard. But I'm asking you not to panic. We know she was out there. And we tracked her for a while. We have to make this an organized effort. Daryl and Melody know the woods better than anybody. I've asked them to oversee this."Rick says crouching down in front of Carol try to comfort her.

"Is that blood?"Andrea asked us looking at Daryl.

Carol starts to breathe heavily.

Nice Blondie.

" We took down a walker," Daryl says

"Walker?"Carol asks starting to panic again.

"Oh my God."Carol starts to sob again while Lori hugs her.

"There was no sign it was ever anywhere near Sophia, "I say want to leave this situation so badly. I don't do this emotional thing. Even when my parents died. I cried and move on. I still have pain in my heart and I still think of them but I don't make it an issue about it. You may think I'm heartless but feeling get you killed in so many ways. Emotional feelings like Love get you heartbroken and caring too much get you eaten or a bullet to the head.

" How can you know that?" Andrea asks snapping me out of my thoughts.

" We cut the son of a bitch open, made sure," Daryl says standing in front of me.

"Oh, God. How could you just leave her out there, to begin with? How could you just leave her?"Carol asks heartbroken.

"Those two walkers were on us. I had to draw them off. It was her best chance."Rick says getting more depressed about not knowing what to say to make her believe him.

"Sounds like he didn't have a choice, Carol, "I say standing up for Rick.

"How was she supposed to find her way back on her own? She's just a child. She's just a child."Carol says having a meltdown.

"It was my only option. The only choice I could make.

"I'm sure nobody doubts that, "Shane says looking at Rick.

"My little girl got left in the woods."Carol stands up and goes to the RV.

Rick stands up and walks away from us into the graveyard of cars broken and lost. So much stress on his shoulders.

What a day. I'm so exhausted.

I was on my way to my truck when a hand stop me. I look up and see brown eyes staring at me.

"Yes?" I ask with a frown, confuse why Dale stopped me.

" Thank you for everything. You are a good person with a good heart. I just hope you see it in yourself one day. Feelings don't make you weak it makes you human Melody. Just remember that." He says looking me in the eyes with a smile.

"Thanks, Dale, Goodnight."

"Goodnight"

I climb into the backseat of my truck and make myself a comfortable bed to rest in.
