After the hearty meal, they were guided to the common room by their prefect.
the common room of Ravenclaw was at the tallest tower in Hogwarts, far outmatching that of Gryffindor, the astronomy tower and the countless towers that populated Hogwarts. to get into the common room, one must trek up the Spiral Ravenclaw staircase, which as a heinous task in its self as the staircase never seemed to stop going. at the top of the staircase, a large door could be seen. the wooden door was simple but was secretly cast with protection charms and spying charms. to get in, you need to answer a question asked by the door knocker.
"What came first, the chicken or the egg?"
"God." The prefect said
"Hm... acceptable."
The door suddenly opened, as the first years gasped.
it was beautiful.
"our emblem is the eagle, which soars where others cannot climb; our house colours are blue and bronze, and our common room is found at the top of Ravenclaw Tower, behind a door with an enchanted knocker. The arched windows set into the walls of our circular common room look down at the school grounds: the lake, the Forbidden Forest, the Quidditch pitch and the Herbology gardens. No other house in the school has such stunning views as ours." The prefect nodded and patted his chest in pride of being a Ravenclaw, before looking up at the ceiling "Much like the main hall, our ceiling is enchanted to look like the mystic night sky, of which some of the people find it soothing while they study. The prefect explained
the room was beautiful, but the thing that was most beautiful was what was behind the statue of Ravenclaw's founder, Rowena Ravenclaw.
A large number of books are laid down in neat rows of bookcases.
books that possessed foreign magic, which would become a great asset for his future.
"The boy's dormitories are on the left, while the girls are on the right. getting these two confused is not a valid excuse, do you understand me?" The prefect hissed
"I'll see you later, mylo." Luna gave a small smile, before going into the girl's dormitory.
it was already getting a bit late, almost nine o'clock at night.
"I'll see you later."
When everyone went to check out the dormitories, Mylo counted the books. around 560 or so.
it seemed like powerful expansion magic was cast to make the relatively small area a large one in the eyes of anyone who see's it.
some of the books were normal, but there were some that interested Mylo
"Creation of spells."
"A beginners guide to African Voodooism."
he first started with these two books, and he took them into his room.
he wasn't allowed to do that, but who cared? the 5th year just simply stared at him, shrugged and looked away.
slowly entering his dorm room, he gave a sigh when he found out he didn't have a roommate. unlike the other houses, Ravenclaw prides itself for giving its students space and privacy to study and relax which makes for a better environment to laugh and learn,
slowly opening the first book, "A guide to African Voodooism". this was a study about the African study on "Voodooism" which had existed since the dawn of magic, according to the belief of African people.
muggles also know about this type of magic, since the African government didn't keep the tightest of lips when muggles were separated from wizards. of course, it was watered down by belief and scepticism to the point only a few muggles dare to take it on.
Voodooism was a different sort of magic, one that didn't require wands. it was classified as dark magic, but it didn't mean it was "Harmful" if it was dark magic, the African government would have adopted a western or eastern look on magic.
the art of Voodooism was one of the intense details.magic circle's that produced certain effects when made correctly. however these magic circles took days if not weeks to create, and even the smallest of fuck-ups could cause intense damage and cripplement if somebody wasn't careful while casting it. the magic circles were made from ink, but could also be substituted by wizard or muggle blood which would greatly strengthen the power of the magic circle. this was outlawed, however.
there were only 3 spells in this book, of which the magical structure and instruction were given.
"Hmm." Mylo softly scoffed. it had already been an hour and so since he opened his book, and he examined the spells with great detail.
it was harder than he expected. the voodoo magic would require a transition to a material that could conduct mana.
wood was a good option, but he had nowhere to get it.
he had to drop the voodoo magic for now. but the spells listed on the page were interesting. it was the 3 basic incitation's
"Healing magic."
"Shadow magic."
"Divination."
Those were the fundamentals of the voodoo, which was unfortunate, cause all three of them would have benefitted him greatly.
the next book was the "Creation of spells"
if he managed to create a couple of spells, it would greatly benefit him. especially if he could tailor it to his use.
but he had done enough reading for tonight, and his eyelids were drooping.
he once again fell into a deep slumber.
---------
"Mylo" A woman's voice jolted him awake, one that sounded much like his mother.
slowly getting out of bed and getting changed into the Ravenclaw uniform, he got ready for his first lesson.
Charms.
