Valerian felt disappointed, but he hid it. He nodded and said, "Then we'll stay here. If you want, we can stay in the house I'm living in, or we can search for another house."

Cass said, "I'm sure your house is fine."

Valerian hugged him again. Cass could feel his relief that he had accepted. Valerian pulled back and caressed his head. "I should go, or I'll be late."

Even though the idea of meeting Alexander to tell him he can't move to Xerion-9 was daunting, he had to do it. His son came first.

Valerian could feel that Cass still expected the worst to happen, and he didn't want him to feel like that forever.

He would have liked to live with the two of them, but what was more important was his relationship with Cass and earning his trust.

Valerian stood up and pulled out his beamer. He stopped when Cass said, "I'd be okay if we moved to Xerion-9."

Valerian looked at his son, stunned. "You would?"

Cass nodded. Valerian asked, "Why there?"
