Chapter 27: Inner beast

Lucian's POV

"Am I... Dead?" That was the first thing that crossed my mind. I found myself in a void space walking but no destination crossed my mind. My legs were just moving on their own, I wanted to stop but it seemed something else had taken over me.

"What is this place?" I asked myself. Soon, my steps quickened. "Where am I going?" I asked again hoping that I will get an answer but nothing happened.

"Lucian...Lucian..." I froze up immediately. Who was that? What was that? Perhaps I was just hearing things but then it came again.

"Don't ignore me you damn brat! I'm your inner beast you fool." It said harshly. I only kept quiet with my expressionless face as it seemed to arouse the unexpected visitor.

"Of all the beasts I was acquainted too, you seem to be the least wise. How unfortunate. I should have just switched with the other one. " it boomed again. I raised an eyebrow still expecting an explanation from whoever said that.

"You are... My inner beast?" I asked.

"Yes. My name is Madl. I was subjected to the likes of you to train you in taming your powers and of course your kind. Tsk tsk didn't your father teach you anything? Now I'll have to explain everything to you." Madl complained.

"Earlier on, you tried to kill a human to turn into a human as well. To do that, you had to kill one by taking their heart and destroying it. Seems like your plan failed..." He began to say with a hit of amusement laced in his voice.

I felt myself snap at his words. I wanted to tell him but that won't do anything. I suddenly felt guilty about what I attempted to do. I tried to take another's life for my selfish wants. I killed a lot of people without even feeling anything. When did I turn to this?

"Reflecting on your past. Anyways, I think you and me are going to have a long chat now plop your butt somewhere and listen you brat."

"Why do you hate me?" I asked still with my poker face.

"It's normal for inner beasts to have a disliking towards their host in the first meeting," Madl said like it was an obvious thing to everyone.

"So do you miss your sister?" Madl asked.

"Shut up!" I uttered angrily.

"Who are you to tell me to shut up you brat? That's it. I'm outta here. " Madl finally said before he stopped. My eyes finally snapped open to come in the face of Daffodil.

"Daffodil, nice to see you again," I said.

"Nice to see you alive, again. You need to be more careful." She said hugging me. It has been a while since she last hugged me. I was not used to the warm acceptance but appreciated it nonetheless.

"Do you ever miss them? I mean Mom and Dad?" I faced Daffodil.

"I do. I have you left and I can't afford to lose you again. You have to promise me Lucian to never endanger yourself again. " This seems nostalgic.

"As I said before, I can't make any promises." My lips slightly curved upwards.

**Somewhere on the Island***

"You are worse than your brother," I yelled running after a boy. He stuck his tongue out as I ran after him.

"I don't know. He seems fine if you ask me." Jin said. He walked to his side of the bed before reaching for his bag of sweets. They were all in disarray as the sweets were eaten and the packs were what were left.

"Sorry, not sorry," Stuart said running off.

"I take it back," Jin said with a tick mark on his forehead. I felt my eyes watery and my body felt numb.

"Jeffrey, are you sure you don't want to rest? You look fatigued." Elvis didn't ask whether I was alright or now because it can be seen that I am not.

"Hey guys, what's up?" Jake appeared from the other room and we all stared at him.

"Your brother is annoying. That's what's up!" Jin and I said startling Jake.

"You'll get used to it," Jake said callously. My body didn't feel so weak anymore as I lunged at him but Jake only moved aside for me to hit my head.

"Serves you right." He snorted.

Author's POV

"Such a shame to see you go. I didn't think it will end like this." Albert said wiping off the blood stain on his hand with a napkin."You fought well but still not enough I presume."

"How could you?!" Wilson managed to cough out the words while beads of sweat from his face dropped to the ground.

"Because I have never had anything close to you. We were typically strangers." Albert said with his foot on top of Wilson's head.

"Any last words?" Albert said with a dark aura emitting from him.

"Albert, you bastard." Albert only scowled in response before a huge crack was placed on Wilson's head. His skull was completely crushed.

"Goodbye, Wilson."
