Dual Element

Cane understood that the research on superhumans and skills 270 years ago was not complete. The Chinese scientist who made the skills was right; he just made a theory for the skills and the practical results were far from accomplished. Nonetheless, he still felt reverence towards the scientist because of his brilliant mind. If the current New Earth was the product of the efforts of scientists from his father's time, then some people will surely agree with him that they were worthy of being admired.

'I will just try to practice these skills in the remaining 6 weeks. The scientists observed that most of the superhumans of 270 years ago discovered their element while practicing the said swordsmanship skill. So, there might be a chance that I will discover mine as well upon practicing it. I just hope that my body really does have an element, or else forget about those goals. Even surviving in the New Earth would be a luxury.', Cane said to himself.

He practiced the movements of the sword skills within the Void Swordsmanship Manual. The movements were truly simple as he moved without a sword. Actually, he was waiting for Liz to finish the forging of a sword, but it seemed to be a real god's metal since it was being subjected to high temperature and current for hours now, but the form was far from complete.

After waiting for another eight hours, the sword was finally forged.

'Doc. This is a standard sword design that is used by the superhumans of today. Please have a feel.'

Cane picked up the sword from the forging chamber and was surprised by how lightweight the sword was. He gave it a few slashes in the air and found it to be satisfactory.

He hurriedly went back inside the Blitz Cube and practiced swordsmanship with the sword in his hand. He found it more realistic to practice the skill with an actual sword. Time passed in a blink of an eye, and he performed the movements of the skill without looking at the demonstrations on the monitor anymore.

After three weeks of disciplined execution of the skills, Cane suddenly got lost in the movements. The monitor was showing a faint white light on his right eye and also a pale silver light on his right hand.

He felt the changes that his body exuded and focused his attention on two distinct sensations from his eye and hand. He also did not stop executing the skills, trying to completely grasp the unique power of his body.

Luckily, Liz was there to aid him. Using the data obtainable outside the bunker plus the research of the Green God Company from 270 years ago, she discovered some useful things.

'Detecting the presence of elements in your body. Doc, you are a dual-element superhuman. You might be the first to be a dual-element wielder 270 years ago, but there are 300 known dual-element superhumans on today's New Earth. Based on the light fluctuating around your right eye and right hand, you wield the time and space elements respectively.'

Cane was elated to know that his body had the supreme viral gene mutation that resulted in an element. The most shocking thing was that he actually had two elements.

'300 people out of billions around the world. My parents surely made this possible for me. Time and space elements, huh? Liz, can you collect all the data about the superhumans that wield these same elements? I want to know how the superhumans of New Earth harness these powers.'

'Yes, Doc.'

'Thanks, Liz.'

He suddenly felt tired after a day of feeling the powers in his body. He still found it hard to use them, but sensing they were there was a start. After a few hours of waiting for Liz to finish collecting the information that he wanted, the monitor quickly loaded all the videos of the superhumans showing their powers.

He was surprised to see that there were a lot of people who honed the time and space elements. Liz hurriedly explained that these elements were actually very rare when considering the whole planet.

As expected, there was no detailed information about the viral genes of these superhumans available to the public. All the videos shown were some of the things deliberately leaked for a purpose, like the first time the elements manifested in those superhumans or some of the fights that they had using their elements.

He was attentively browsing through the videos when he saw that one superhuman was taking the entrance test for one of the Four Great Academies. The entrance test should be a confidential agenda, but the school granted their approval to advertise their prestige.

The superhuman was a young woman who looked about the same age as Cane, and she harnessed the element of space. The video showed that she was taking the last stage of the test, which was practical combat.

Her opponent was a red-colored Android—a robot that was genetically enhanced. When the Android sprinted towards her ready to launch a punch, she suddenly waved her hand, and the area below her feet unexpectedly warped. She vanished and reappeared at the back of the Android.

The Android was not to be underestimated as it suddenly twisted its body from its waist and punched her. The young woman nonchalantly waved the same hand, and the path where the punch traversed suddenly crumbled and it did not spare the Android's arms. Those who witnessed the battle were amazed by her performance and they clapped. The video ended briefly after that exchange.

An excited expression was immediately on Cane's face. He suddenly remembered what the God Sin of Lust had told him.

'If you want to take them to the new world..." — this was what the god said. He suspected that the god had already known that he harnessed the power of time and space-powers required to do space and time travel of some sort.

'That God must have shown me their existence to motivate me to fully control this power at the soonest time. I know that time travel or space warp is dependent on time and space. Now that I possess both of these powers, does this mean that I can really go back to my old world and bring my woman and son? Or why not just live with them when I get there? That God said about the mother of my child being a vessel, so it must be an ulterior motive. (Sigh) I need to have the power to do it first before thinking about it some more. I know it couldn't be that easy, but I am sure that there is more to that than just time and space. Nonetheless, even if I can't do it myself, I am sure that someone can or there might already be technology that can do it.', Cane thought to himself.

'Hey. If you are listening, tell me how to bring my family here or, better yet, just do it yourself. You owe my woman and child that service. Please help me. I want to meet them.', he tried to call out to the God Sin of Lust, but there was no reply.

Cane wondered when or how the God Sin of Lust would manifest again. He really needed answers.

After that slight diversion of thought, he resumed watching the videos of superhumans with time or space elements. He was hoping to get some insight or inspiration towards the control of those elements.

Cane spent two days watching all of the videos of the superhumans. He got so much information from them. He noticed that to harness the elements, one needed to focus their perception on the body part that channels the powers. The same with the young woman who had space powers during the entrance exam, the outlet of her powers was the same as Cane's – the right arm.

Different people have different channeling body parts. Some space or time element wielders channel it from their feet, eyes, forehead, and many other parts that are sometimes covered by their clothes.

He spent two more days before noticing this useful information because no lights were fluctuating on the body parts that channel these superhumans' elemental powers.

He deduced that these lights might disappear when the elemental power was already properly controlled to a certain degree.

Cane opted to focus his attention on managing the power in his right eye—the time element—after absorbing all of the information from the videos and research 270 years ago. He believed that controlling time was more powerful than controlling space. Slowing down and speeding up time was simply too powerful.

Damn you, Cane! You reminded me again of my goddess!
