The cold dampness of the place contrasted with the dry heat of the desert. She wondered how the builders had managed to construct such a high wall on ground as unstable as sand.

-Please follow me, I'll show you to your rooms," said a servant, handing the passes back to Hakim after checking them, snapping the young woman out of her reflection.

Nea gladly followed the group. She was assigned to a room shared with Amina. The two women barely had time to set down their belongings before they headed straight for the baths. Their bodies, worn out by the harshness of the journey, needed to relax.

They both found themselves sighing with well-being, seated at the back of the large communal bath in the annex of the chateau where they were staying for the duration of their stay. The guards and Kio lived in the same building, and Hakim and Anne-Lise had their own rooms in the chateau.
