FOREST AND OCEAN ORBS

BRIA

The game went smoothly so far and we were already at the seventh question after I shared my dreams and my fears with him. He listened to my every word attentively without giving any snarky comments, and I appreciated it!

I scooted a little towards him and asked the next question. "Ok, now my turn, seventh question. You mentioned about any family member of yours for the first time and that was your mother. How is she like?"

He looked quite taken aback by my question. I knew that it was a dangerous topic, but I was curious.

"Enough of this stupid game!" He got up from the bed in anger but stopped when I clutched the back of his t-shirt and tugged it a little.

"Why are you angry? It was a normal question." I said in a gentle voice.

But he ignored me and freed himself before walking towards the door. I jumped out of the bed and ran to block his way.

"What's wrong? You can tell me you know. I have revealed every secret of mine to you. Don't you trust me with talking about your family?" Though his face didn't show anything but anger, somehow I could feel his distress and wanted to help him.

"Move," He ordered in a hard voice.

"No. Tell me what's that you are hiding?" I asked adamantly.

"I am telling you for the last time, Miss Maxwell. Get. the. fuck. out of my way!" He threatened me. But I was not afraid of him... well... not right then at least!

"I am not getting out of your fucking way until you tell me. I want to know why you are mad for me asking about your mother." I raised my voice.

But soon I realised my mistake. Before I knew it, I was thrown into the wall harshly, and he screamed right in my face. "You want to know about my mother? Fine! She is DEAD and I was the one who KILLED her!"

My mind went blank, and only his words replayed in my head, ringing in my ears, burning them like molten iron.

I stood stupefied, too stunned to react. He must have realised what he had done because he instantly rushed into the bathroom and closed the door behind him with a loud thud.

Not a minute later, I heard the breaking of the mirror, and that sound pulled me back to my senses.

Oh, God!

I ran to the bathroom and began pleading to him to open the door. And that was when I realised that I was crying the whole time.

"Go away." He roared, punching the wall with all his force.

"N-no. Please. I will not ask anything to you. I don't want to know anything anymore. But please, stop it. Don't hurt yourself!" I begged while sobbing.

But he didn't stop. With every punch he landed on the hard wall, he damaged something inside me so much so that after a certain point I couldn't take it anymore.

I didn't know how I managed it, but I opened the door and ran straight to him. I hugged his tense back and cried, holding him tight.

"Please, please. Stop."

I could feel how hot and tensed his body was against me. He tried to pry my hands away with force, but I only tightened them around him even more.

"It's ok. Please calm down. I am here for you, Hayden. Please don't hurt yourself. Please!"

His body went still instantly.

"What did you called me?" He asked in a barely audible whisper.

"H-Hayden. You don't have to go through this pain. It was wrong of me to push you over the edge. I am sorry. Please calm down." I pleaded in a low voice.

He didn't react, nor did he push me away. I didn't know how long we stayed like that before he slowly loosened my hands from around him and turned to face me.

I kept my eyes downcast as I was too afraid to match his gaze.

"Miss Maxwell"

His deep voice sent shivers down my spine, and I slowly lifted my head. When my eyes found him, my face contorted into utter horror.

What on Earth?

Before he opened his mouth, an ear-splitting scream left my lips before I bolted out of there. I stopped, only after I reached the public park near the hotel and away from him.

I grabbed my head, massaging my temples to lessen the grief. Every time I closed my eyes, that horrifyingly beautiful sight flashed through my mind.

It was only for a moment, but that sight was imprinted in my heart and soul permanently.

The electric blue right orb was fathomless like a deep blue ocean. The black rim circled the outline with dark black flakes running to the centre like thunder. Then there was left emerald green orb with yellow undertones and dark green outlines.

I sucked a deep breath. Who would know that beauty could be this brutal? I lost the track of time, and before I knew it, it was already dark around. I was not ready to go and face him yet, but I couldn't stay outside for long. Now or later, I had to face him. It was inevitable!

So I decided to return. After having a breather, I was able to gather my thoughts and lined them up. I thought I was ready to face him.

I sighed and headed back to the hotel room. As I neared the reception, I saw that oldie was quite tense. As she saw me approaching, her eyes darted to her left. My brows kneaded in confusion as I looked at two men looking around the hotel. They were not here to get a room, that much I figured. I glanced back at oldie, and the confirmation of my doubt was written all over her face.

Shit! What should I do now?

Ok... calm down Bria. Act cool.

I feigned nonchalance and passed them to reach the stairs. When I was away from their sight, I hid behind a corner to see that they were checking all the rooms. They were first checking the inside by peeping through the keyhole and then knocking on the door. They were here for us! I hurried to our room and knocked on it.

KING

I sat stunned on the bed, and no matter what, I couldn't get that horrified look on her face out of my mind. Her scream still rings in my ears, and all the past memories that I had buried deep within me begin resurfacing.

I didn't realise how long I sat receiving the torment of the past before I heard the urgent knocks on the door.

Was she back?

The thought of seeing her again moved my body, and I opened the door. And there she was right... back after hours.

She entered the room and closed the door behind her securely. She looked panicked, and my guards were instantly up in defence.

"There are two men checking every room. I think they are here for us."

My mind began juggling the possibilities when she added. "No. We can't escape as they are already heading here." At the same time, I heard a knock on the nearby door.

"Shit... shit... shit. We are doomed. What should we do now... what should we-"

When another knock came a little clearer this time, she grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the bed.

I was confused, but before I asked her anything, she pushed me onto the bed and got on my body, cradling me.

What the hell was going on in her head?

"Miss Maxwell-"

"Shhh"

She opened her hair, letting them fall around her shoulders and pulled her t-shirt out of her head. My body instantly tensed as my eyes caught the sight of her bare skin. Only her black-coloured bra covered her front and looked more than just impressive, contrasting her smooth skin.

I gulped audibly before forcing my eyes to shift to her face. She covered our lower half with a duvet and placed my hands on her bare waist. My skin burned at the contact with hers, and I couldn't think about anything else.

"Just play along," She whispered before starting to make very uncomfortable noises.

Was she serious?

She made me pretend that we were having sex in this situation.

Nora was not wrong complaining about Fire watching only romantic movies back home!

"Ohh.. babe... that's soo amazing! Yeah. Aahhh..." She closed her eyes, as her cheeks flushed in a dark shade of pink.

But it was too late to stop her because, this time the knock sounded on our door, and she moaned loudly.

"Accidenti ... guarda questo.(damn look at this)"

"Che cos'è? (What is it?) Ohh... Jesus!"

The low voices passed through the closed door.

"Signori avete finito qui?(Gentlemen are you done here?)"

I felt relieved to hear Donna's voice.

"Chi è in questa stanza. Non-Stanno aprendo la porta. (who is in this room? They are not opening the door.)" A man asked her.

I tightened my grip on her waist to tell her that she had stopped with her act due to worry.

"Ohh... aaahhh. Come on love. Yeah... yeah. Like that!" She visibly cringed, and I could understand how embarrassed and uneasy she must be feeling.

But I didn't!

"Oh. È una coppia adorabile che è qui in luna di miele. (Oh. That's a lovely couple here on the honeymoon)" Donna said, gushing in excitement.

"Qualunque cosa. Di 'loro di aprire la porta(Whatever. Tell them to open the door)"

The fire looked confused as they spoke in Italian, and I had to play her personal translator again.

"Donna is trying to talk to them but they want us to open the door," I whispered.

So then she improvised her acting. "kiss me, babe. Oh, you are too good in bed. ti senti così-(you feel so-)"

She paused. "What is the word for good?" She asked in a whisper.

"bene"

"ti senti così bene. Ohh... ohhh" She said in such a sensual voice that it began affecting my body the way I didn't want it.

"You are sounding like a starving walrus, Miss Maxwell."

"Shut up!"

Donna giggled loudly. "Vedi, al momento sono abbastanza impegnati. Penso che non dovremmo disturbarli. (You see, they are quite busy at the moment. I think we should not disturb them.)"

"ma- (but-)"

"Coraggio amico. Lascia che si divertano, sì. Sono sicuro che non sono le persone che stiamo cercando. Sono entrambi uomini ... ricordi? (Come on man. Let them have their fun, yeah. I am sure they are not the people we are looking for. They are both men... remember?)"

After five more minutes of bickering, we heard the sound of retreating footsteps. The fire quickly leaned above me to peer through the window by sliding the curtain a little.

I held my breath as her chest came directly in front of my eyes. I should have closed them but... I couldn't! And I was not ashamed of confessing it!

After two minutes, their car sped off to the highway.

She fell on my chest, sighing in relief. "That was close!" She breathed out.

Yes! It indeed was close!

A minute later, she scrambled away from me in hurry realising our state, and my body ached at the loss of her touch, but I remained silent. She picked up her t-shirt and wore it before coming to sit beside me.

I remained on the bed, staring away from her as my mind was filled with so many things.

"Umm... I... can I see your eyes?P-please?"

I clenched my jaw at her request, recalling her first reaction to them.

"So that you can again run screaming a murder?"

She bit her lower lip. "I-I am sorry for that. I didn't mean to act that way. But I got caught off guard. H-Hayden?"

"Don't. call. me. that" I said through greeted teeth.

I sat up in bed and avoided looking at her. But then she scooted near me and gently held my face as if it was made up of glass. She turned my head, and I didn't resist.

My eyes met her amazing chocolate brown orbs, as she stared back at mine unblinkingly.

"They are beautiful!" She whispered in awe. "I told you that those dull brown eyes didn't suit you. This is what that really suits you. You are lucky to have such beautiful eyes!" She smiled softly.

But instead of bringing comfort, her words only worsened my already bleeding wounds.
