Chapter 20 Dungeon Exploration#2

30th, Ashadha, 1965

The raiding party has gathered in front of the village church. The church looked depilated from the outside, the plaster from the white walls was coming off. The church also has a spire, wooden windows, and a door,

It is the only building that is intact inside the village full of ruins.

All the windows and the doors are shut tight. If looked closely the church is covered in a thin film of protective shield.

Ortson fires a magic projectile at the wall but it bounces right off without leaving a scratch,

"Null Bullet."

'What the….! It is similar to the force field technology on earth.'

"There is a thin film of force field covering the church from all sides. it is here to seal the raid boss inside the church. You, people, are rested enough, Goblin shaman is physically weak, so warriors need to get close. Now enter the church."

All nine explorers open the front door of the church and entered together, the door was big enough for five people can stand side by side.

Due to all the windows being closed, the only light source is the stained glass at the end of the hall portraying an elder god.

Inside the church there were benches on both sides of the hall which were used by parishioners at one time, at the end of the hall there is the stage that may have been used by the father of the church, but instead of the father, there is green skin monster with a hunched back and covered in a dirty cloak, with a skull staff in hand.

As soon as the raid boss was in sight, Ortson cast his most trusted spell, 'Null Bullet' at the goblin shaman's head.

But something unexpected happened.

"Illusion."

Then without notice from the side a dozen of goblin fire a sickly green color spell which grants debuff to the opponents showered on the raiders.

"Spread out, everyone."

But due to the carelessness, many raiders got hit by the debuff spells, which slowed down their agility and movement.

Without missing a beat the goblin shaman again showered them with curses.

Ortson being only 2nd circle mage apprentice was only able to protect himself.

"Shield."

Ortson watch helplessly as he saw his comrade were being burned by the curses. He had become lax due to his previous experience and also due to the presence of Instructor Adrian.

The party needs to break the deadlock or they will end up dead.

Ortson started to look around for anything that will break the impasse, and his sight fell on the broken benches beside him, and he moved before he even thought of an idea.

Ortson hold one of the benches with both hands and shouted with all his might.

"Reinforce."

The spell filled Ortson with a sudden surge of power throughout his all body. He lifts the bench and throws it across the hall.

"Everyone get down."

The bench flew across the hall of the church and hit the goblin shaman in the chest dead center.

The goblin shaman fell down from his position, it gave the raiding party a chance to breathe, but without wasting time close-range fighters who were still standing ran toward their target and jumped at the goblin shaman together and pierced him with their blade.

At the same time, everyone got the notice that they defeated the boss monster, and the tower point was distributed.

'Today was very close, and the side effects of reinforcement are damn painful.'

"Ortson you okay, my man."

Ortson raises his head to see Max walking toward him, but due to not having enough strength he puts his head back down.

"My body is screaming due to strain Max. Was I able to stand on your expectation?"

"Of course, that was wild, how you threw the bench across the hall."

"Here give me your hand, let's go out."

Max pulls Ortson up, it made Ortson groan in pain and both of them started walking outside the church while leaning on each other.

As they open the door of the church the piercing light which hits them on the face felt very pleasant to them.
