chapter 9: Silly girl

Logan

It was her.

I could never forget this face even if it got old and developed wrinkles, the troublesome, nonchalant tomboy.

It could only be this girl who could pick the mighty Adams Enterprise as her third option for her fieldwork project.

I was upset but I didn't know the exact reason why I was.

It's payback time for the stunts she pulled when I visited her school, I need to make sure she works here and nowhere else so that I could make her life miserable.

'Kevin, I need you here' I said and he came rushing.

'Take this file, find out which of the companies she listed here has accepted her application. Be fast about it please' I ordered

'Ok sir, I will get to it immediately' he said and left my office

Kevin probably saw that I was impatient. I was literally hoping no company would accept her request yet. It has been three days already and she must have been selected by another.

Few minutes later, Kevin knocked and I almost jumped from my sit.

'The Williams corporation got her' he said handing the file over to me.

William is a good friend of mine and I'm sure he'll do as I wanted, the only problem is that he might never stop bugging me as to why I wanted her to work with me instead, I'll figure out what to tell him later.

'Make a call Kevin, tell Williams to take down her name. Tell him I want her to work here instead' I ordered.

Kevin looked at me confused.

'What's with the state?' I asked him

'Nothing sir' he said but he still didn't move

'Don't just stand there, do as I have instructed' I said

'Is everything okay sir?' He asked me

'Since when did it become part of your job description to ask me if I'm okay or not?' I asked him

'I'm sorry boss' he scratched his head before moving towards the door.

He was about to leave my office 'And make sure you let her know she'll be doing her fieldwork project at Adams Enterprise' I smiled a wicked smile.

'Ok boss, but you still have the files and I'm suppose to call all of them to inform them' he said

'Right, call Williams first. I will finish picking the ones to work here then leave the rest to you' I told him before dismissing him.

'So Mia's your name little miss trouble' I said aloud to myself. I read her surname Montoya and wondered if she was Spanish.

I went through her file again, I checked what she reads in school presently and her past results. I must admit that she's good.

She's 22, older than most college students and I wonder why.

Out of the 15 files I went through, I selected 10 students to work with. So I separated the files into two and told Kevin what to do with them. He was to call all the ten students I had selected, telling them to report here on Monday while the remaining five will be passed down to other companies to select.

My phone indicated that I had an incoming call from Williams, I knew he was going to call me.

'I know why you are calling me' I said as soon as I answered the phone.

'Good, so why do you want her, don't tell me you've fallen for a student, oh my God do you like her?' he gasped and I sighed in frustration at his accusations.

'No, what is wrong with you?, I have fallen for no one, even if I had, why would it be a student so zip it' I snapped at Williams.

'Why do you want her to work for you so bad?' join asked again

'You ask too many questions and yes I want her to work with me but not so bad as you put it' I said with discontentment evident in my voice.

'I feel sorry for her' he said

'Me too' I told him and that was a truth.

'You too?, what did she do to deserve you as her karma' he asked

'Are we still going to meet at the club house next weekend?' I asked Williams

'I see what you are doing here, you are trying to change the topic of discussion' he stated

'Was it that obvious?' I asked him

'Ofcourse' he said

'Anyways, do as you please' he said again

'Thank you' I said before hanging up

Mia

It was a sunday and I had made plans of going to the mall to pick one or two corporate outfits that I will be using for the coming weeks.

Williams corporation called me yesterday to inform me of my acceptance. I will be doing my field work project at their company.

I wasn't very happy, I somehow wished the Adams called me but it wasn't even possible after what I did.

I called Sophia.

'Soph, I need a partner for shopping' I told her when she answered the phone

'You are at the right place ma'am and your timing is convenient too' she giggled

'But we charge for displacement services' she added and I rolled my eyes even though she couldn't see me.

'How much?' I laughed

'You'll pay for two dresses that I want' she said

'Nope, never. Your taste is too expensive, don't you have any other offers?' I asked

'Come on besty, ok just one dress. I promise I won't go for anything expensive' she said

'Fine, meet me at 11, we'll go to the mall together and emphasis on nothing expensive' I laughed

'I love you too' she said from her end

'What ever' I said

Sophia and I ended up going for shopping as planned.

I got a leather jacket for Sophia, I wasn't lying when I said her taste was too expensive for me. I got two pairs of black pants and four shirts, two of them were long sleeves and two weren't.

'I can't wait to see you in this, Why didn't you get a skirt' Sophia laughed

'I don't want to see you anywhere near my house tomorrow, I don't want to change my mine and not go after all' I warned her

'Fine, I'll stay off but it's only because I don't want you to change your mind about going to work or whatever you call it' she whined

'Better' I said

'You need photos of you in this outfit, you don't get to wear them everyday' she said and I glared at her.

'I'll go try them on' I told Sophia

'Why are you going away, I promise I'm not going to laugh' she said and started giggling.

'No, I won't risk it' I said and went on to change leaving her in the room.

'You didn't say what you'll wear as shoes and you didn't get any' Sophia said when I returned.

'Yeah and that's because I have them already' I replied

'Can I see?' She asked

'You don't trust me' I laughed

'I just want to see them, that's all' she said

I pulled out two pairs of shoes to show Sophia.

'A pair of canvas, not bad' she nodded her head in agreement.

'No way, you're not wearing that' she said pointing towards the pair of loafers I was holding.

'Why not?' I asked her

'Because it's something men wear' she said smacking her hand against her forehead

'Exactly, I wear 100% men clothing and you know that. What's wrong with this?' I asked again

'This is extreme Mia, this shoe is so…..manly' she said and I laugh.

'I like them and I will wear them' I tell her

'You are going to chase all your possible suitors girl' she cried.

'I didnt say I wanted any, that's your idea now' I told her

'I wish you could use a PA already so I can see Logan Adams everyday' she said.

'Soph I don't even have a job yet and even if I had one, what makes you think I'll hire you as my PA. Snap out of that dream' I told her

'you are so mean' she said

'I know, but you're still here' I smiled

'Because I love you' she said

'I love you more' I told her

'That reminds me' Sophia said

'Yes?' I asked

'Jacob was at my place yesterday' She said

'What did he want?' I asked Sophia

'He wanted me to beg you on his behalf' she said

'And what what your response?' I asked her

'I told him to do so himself' I said

'Good. He confronted me too' I told her

'I'm sorry' Sophia said

'Silly girl!, don't be' I said

'Its official that we are no longer together, I told him so' I said

'Let's just pray and hope he listens' Sophia said to me

'I have been wishing the same thing for days now, Jacob can be persistent sometimes, I hope this isn't one of those times' we both laughed

'Yes. He never gave up trying to pursue you, it became scary but you guys pulled it off' Sophia said to me
