Chapter 25:Matéo Montoya

Mia

I made my way into the office.

Everyone was staring at me when I got into our area of work. Some with smiling faces, some with faces full of scorn, but no one said anything.

Henry was present too and he didn't even look at me. I don't know why he is mad anyways, I don't know if it is because I didn't tell him about Logan and I or because he is just jealous.

'Where is Olivia?' I asked one of the other students

'She went to use the bathroom' she replied

'Thank you' I said

I thought to myself that this was perfect timing, this way I could talk to her without causing a scene and no one would know.

'You were brave out there today, Mia' she said

'Where do you mean?' I asked her

'The live streaming video where you defended your love for the Sir Adams' she said and I sighed

'There is no love for anyone' I said

They all turned their heads in my direction when I said that.

'Look at her acting all pretentious' someone in the room said and I heard.

'What did you say?' I moved over to ask the girl who said it

'Nothing' she said

'Yeah that's right, it better be nothing' I said and kicked on one of the empty chairs that was near her.

'Mind your business alright' I told her calmly and she shivered

Just then Olivia entered the room and sat on her desk.

I went over to her desk and looked down at her.

'Can we talk in the ladies room?' I asked Olivia when I saw her leaving the ladies room

'I don't want to' she said checking out her brightly coloured perfectly polished nails.

'It's either you follow me or I tell everyone what you did' I said

'Go ahead, it's not like they will believe you anyways' she bragged causing me to lose my cool.

'Why did you put something in my drink at the party?' I yelled so that everyone could hear me.

'Stop throwing baseless accusations at me?, what proof do you have?' she asked me

'There's a CCTV footage Olivia. You have 24hours to apologise to me or I will show it to everybody, because you put something in Henry's drink too. What was your plan?' I asked her

The people in the room kept gasping as I spoke.

Olivia got up from her seat and stood in front of me ' you don't scare Mia or Lia or whatever your name is' she said

'Only at the moment, but trust me you will be scared. 24 hours Olivia' I warned her

'Did you really put something in my drink at the party?' I heard Henry ask olivia when I left her desk.

'You can't always believe everything she says' Olivia said

'But you are not denying it' Henry presses further

'I didn't do anything' I heard her say

I received a call from Connor when I reached my desk.

'Connor' I said

'Is everything okay?, how's mum?' I asked him

'Everything is okay and your mum is better, as a matter of fact she wants to talk to you that's why I called' he said

'That's a relief, put her on' I said

'Mum, I will come over immediatel I get off from work' I said

'It's okay. Take your time, Logan is here with me' mum said

'Ok mum, how's he doing by the way' I asked

'He's been feeding me non stop' mum laughed

'Anything else mum?' I asked her

'Yes but we can't talk over the phone, I will wait for you' mum said

'Youre making me nervous now mum' I told her

'It's nothing to worry about, we'll just talk okay' she said

'Ok mum, bye I have to go' I said and hung up.

I turned to look at Henry only to see him staring back at me.

I finally decided to talk to him after work.

'Hey, let's talk'' I told Henry who was shoving things into his bag.

'Ok' he said and shrugged

'You've been avoiding me' I stated

'Nope' he answered briefly

'You see, that's what I'm talking about. This isn't how you normally behaved towards me' I lamented

'You didn't tell me you were dating our boss, I thought I was your friend' he said

'Yes you're my friend but I didn't know being friends with you compells me to tell you everything going on in my life' I said to Henry

'So why are you here?, I thought you came to explain yourself' Henry said

'I don't owe you any explanation Henry. This is my life and the thing going on between Logan and I is more complicated than you think' I said

'So you love him then?' he asked me

'Where is this coming from?' I asked a little bit baffled by his question.

'I just need to know' Henry said

'Wait a minute, do you have feelings for me?' I aksed

'You are jealous, that's why you are acting this way' I chuckled

'No I'm not' he argued

'You are, be honest. Do you like me in that sense?' I asked him

'Fine, I have feelings for you' he said

'But you are like a younger brother to me' I told Henry

'Don't ever use that sentence on me again okay' he said

'Poor you, I'm sorry Henry. I like you as my friend, I cherish our friendship so please don't ruin it with something like this besides you are younger' I told him and watched how his face grew pale.

'Ok, see you tomorrow' he said before picking up his bag to leave.

'Henry' I tried stopping him but he pushed past me.

Logan was right when he said Henry liked me, I couldn't see it.

My phone vibrated as soon as I stepped outside the office building.

It was an unsaved number calling, I picked the call regardless.

'Hey princess, it's papa' he said at the other end

'Dad, is this really you?' I asked him

'Yes flesh and blood, turn around' he said and my heart began to beat extremely fast.

I obliged and began to turn slowly with the phone still on my ear.

There he was, standing right in front of me, I couldn't believe my eyes.

My legs began to quiver instantly but that didn't stop me from moving forward in order to hug my dad.

I hugged my dad with all my might and I didn't want to let go.

'Honey, I can't breath' he said

'I'm sorry dad, I just got too excited' I said

'I know darling' he said

'Mum, she's sick, she had a surgery' I told him

'I know. I wanted to see her' he said

'That's why you came' I told him.

I wasn't surprised that my dad knew where I worked or that he knew mum was sick

'To see you both, how have you guys been?, you look so beautiful' he said and I blushed

'You didn't know how we've been doing?, that's not possible, you have men almost everywhere' I said

'Smart. Don't let your mother hear you say that' Dad smiled

'I know' I smiled back

'I was on my way to the hospital' I told dad

'Let's go then' he said and I obliged

Connor was seated on the bed with mum when I entered the room while Logan was at the corner manipulating his phone, his face lit up when he saw me.

'Mum, someone is here to see you' I told mum

Before she could ask who it was, dad revealed himself.

'Susan' Dad called softly as he stood at the door.

'Matéo' mum called his name and spread her arms out for him since she couldn't move with watery eyes.

Dad moved over to hug mum and Connor moved aside to give them space.

'How have you been?' mum asked after they hugged

'Not bad, but you look terrible. What happened?' Dad chuckled and asked

'Ahh!, just a small fall' mum said

'A small fall got you looking like this?' dad laughed, everyone in the room laughed.

Logan and I could tell Connor was feeling awkward.

I cleared my throat to notify them about his presence.

'Connor, this is Matéo Mia's father' mum said

'I'm Connor, Susan's…'Connor didn't finish

'Don't say it, I know who you are' Dad said with an intimidating aura.

'Dad' I said trying to call him to be in his best behaviour.

'Hey Matéo, have you met Logan, he is Mia's boyfriend' mum dropped the bomb, she just had to shift the attention back to me.

'Princess, I didn't know about this' Dad said

He didn't hide the way he gawked at Logan from head to toe.

'Why him?' Dad looked at me

I was speechless 'Huh?' I asked him

'I mean I get that he has a fine face, he has good taste and he looks wealthy but can he fight for you?, protect you from danger. I bet he has never even held a gun before in his life, I mean just look at his hands' my dad

'Dad, Matéo!' Mum and I exclaimed at the same time when he talked about a gun.

'Ok I'm sorry, my bad. Maybe I went overboard' dad said

'Yes you did' mum said

'Mum' I called her

'What! you heard what he said, he's trying to give Logan a gun' mum said making me to laugh.

'When did I try to do that?' Dad asked

'I know you Matéo' mum said, I just shook my head at how they bantered.
