Chapter 4 Spartacus

All the recruit's previous confidence and excitement have now been shattered, only the crippling fear remained, they can't believe what happened in just a short moment, one of the future backbone of the Empire a Legionnaire Recruit has been beaten to a pulp by a Sword Slave a Gladiator...

this Slaves has been captured and defeated by their predecessor and now this very slave is like a wall to them that they couldn't climb.

As the recruits were thinking about what just happened there is a person sitting at the top of the outpost smirking as if it's he is watching a show... this was Septimus Severus the official Legate of the 14th legion a young upstart roman noble who wants to earn glory on the battlefield. he is born from a line of nobles who since been one of Rome's sharpest swords in its Conquest.

M"Johan, What do you think about the new recruits?" said Severus to the young man next to him. ' They are too young and arrogant Lord, this will be a perfect lesson for them to be tamed" Severus nodded as Johan continue with his assessment, Johan is an Imposing soldier with a height of 6ft and has a body that is full of scars and muscle he is the Primus Centurion of the 1st Cohort "the more tamed they are the more the better my lord as we don't want any mutiny during or campaign" Severus once again nodded and was deep in thought.

"What happened to your Excitement previously? Is this all you little shit could do? Beaten to a pulp by the very people we conquered ? someone get their ass over here so we could continue to the second duel" said our trainer, but even with all those provocations and insult none of the recruits moved. then suddenly a commotion broke out among the recruits followed by a young man who walk inside the duel ring and shouted:

"My name is Spartacus, requesting guidance to the Gladiators!" the Gladiators were surprised as they never expect someone to challenge them so openly after that beat down one of the recruits to a pulp.

After a moment a Gladiator slowly walks inside the duel ring it was a Laquearius a type of Gladiator that uses a Lasso to catch or hit its opponents. Laquerius is one of the rarest and most difficult types of Gladiator to fight as they are agile and fast, compared to the Legionaire whose battle was inspired by a turtle we used our shield and slowly block all incoming attacks at the front while we crept slowly and steadily.

Seeing as both the recruit and Gladiator were already in the ring the trainer shouted Satus! Spartacus immediately raised his shield and grab his pilus at his back, and cautiously stare at the gladiator waiting for its next move... the Gladiator was visibly amused at what happening and began to agilely charge at Spartacus...

seeing the Gladiator suddenly burst into him Spartacus was caught slightly off guard but recovered fast enough... to throw his pilus at the gladiator to make some distance between them, this was a good decision for Spartacus because his previous location was now occupied by the Gladiators Whip and a deep mark is clearly visible at the location where the tip of the whip landed, Legionnaires were given 3 Pilus for throwing, now Spartacus was only left with two more Pilus. the Gladiator was a little surprised but recovered fast enough to continue its charge. Spartacus was about to throw his second pilus but when he was supposed to throw his second Pilus his pilus was caught by the whip of the Gladiator now Spartacus only has one remaining Pilus left.

Seeing this scene the recruits of the new 14th legion grew tensed "Fuck, this is Bad for Spartacus, a Laquerius attack in mid-range it would be almost impossible for the slow Testudos Formation to reach its opponents" said one of the recruits, All the recruit's previous confidence, and excitement have now been shattered, only the crippling fear remained, they can't believe what happened in just a short moment, one of the future backbone of the Empire a Legionnaire Recruit was being pressured by a Sword Slave a Gladiator... Slaves that have been captured and defeated by their predecessors and now the very slave who is like a bug to any Roman citizen is like a wall to them that they couldn't climb.

"This Gladiator is an expert at Mid-range level attack because the Laquerius are expert with the whip, why is it that this Gladiator is charging? When his advantage is creating distance between him and his opponent and attacking them from range?" I said to myself… I have a bad feeling about this but I can't figure it out… I hope Spartacus will be all right.

only has one remaining Pilus left. the Gladiator Continued its pursuit and finally caught Spartacus and swung his wooded sword to his head. after getting hit, Spartacus stumbled but recovered and tried to smash his shield at the gladiator to gain some distance it didn't do too much damage, but the Gladiator is starting to get annoyed and started to get serious. the Gladiator will finally put some distance between them and started to wait for Spartacus to recover and stand up, finally, Spartacus stood up and uses the testudos formation this time he is not going to retreat but charge he realizes that he is a Deadman if he fights his opponent through distance as they are expert in this kind of battles. So Spartacus uses the Testudos and ran toward the gladiator.

while Spartacus was in a Testudos formation and charging with his shield held high the Gladiator started to whip and retreat he hit Spartacus and after every, he retreats.. this has been going on for 15 minutes already " Spartacus would charge and the gladiator would hit him with the whip, not enough force to truly cause harm and he would retreat, because the gladiator is faster and more agile. Spartacus could catch the gladiator. Now Spartacus is visibly out of breath this is when I realize why did the Gladiator did not initially fight with Spartacus with its Advantage, he 1st provokes Spartacus with his initial Charge to give him a sense that this is how I fight and finally he is doing that hit and retreat to exhaust Spartacus remember that Spartacus is wearing a full plated Roman empire and carrying twice as heavy Gladius, Shield and Pilus..etc

I was about to shout my finding to Spartacus but I was already too late and Spartacus was already cornered, when Spartacus was almost exhausted, this is where the Gladiator made his move, he 1st whips and caught Spartacus shield it fell down a few min ahead but Spartacus couldn't move because of the exhaustion, he is now a sitting duck in front of a bunch of Carnivores. The Gladiator caught Spartacus next and the gladiator pull him towards him and punch him. the Gladiator broke Spartacus's balance and he fell down…

the Gladiator thought that this was over because when Spartacus fell down he thought that Spartacus is already unconscious. But when he is about to leave and continue to the other gladiator the Spartacus let go of his helmet so his vision would be clear, let go of his shield so he wouldn't be off balance and finally he picks up his last remaining Pilus, and throws it towards the Gladiator. With no more added weight because of the amour and no more helmet so his vision was clear and he clench his teeth and threw it toward the gladiator.

As Spartacus throw the pilus he fell down and lost consciousness. The Gladiator wasn't prepared for this and was shocked he as no means of blocking it because his type of Gladiator has little to no armor and a shield will only interfere with his whip arts so when he saw the pilus that is coming towards him there is only one option left to dodge it.

The gladiator tried their best to dodge it but it was a good throw and he was hit in his left thigh. Blood started gushing out the gladiator wanted to kill the sleeping Spartacus but he was dragged by the trainers and was subjected to medication. All the recruits cheer when they saw this scene! Even though at the end of the day Spartacus lose it was still a great match.
