New Purpose in Life

Okay, there are a lot of things that need to unpack here.

First of all, my life came to an abrupt end, a victim of a robber's gunshot as I valiantly sought to save my best friend. Then, a mysterious voice granted me a rare opportunity—the chance to reincarnate. And now, reborn not only as a child but as a creature of the night, also known as a vampire.

Yup, this is fine. Totally not a huge loss at all.

Who am I kidding? This is utterly bizarre! I went from being an ordinary high school student with a gift for acing exams to a supernatural being with an insatiable thirst for blood. There's no handbook for this, goddammit!

"Luna? Are you alright? Why are you kneeling on the ground like that?"

The question broke through my chaotic thoughts. I looked up to find the figure, the one who had bestowed upon me this vampiric existence, standing nearby with a mix of curiosity and concern etched across their features.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I mumbled, attempting to stand. Yet, the unfamiliar weightlessness of my new body made the action awkward.

The figure extended a hand, offering support. I hesitated for a bit before accepting it, feeling a strange warmth emanating from their touch.

"I don't know what that scream just now was, but I'm guessing you're just shocked," they remarked with a hint of amusement. "Anyway, come with me. I'll tell you everything you need to know on the way out."

As the figure and I left the room, we found ourselves in a dimly lit corridor. I marveled at the architecture of this place. Ancient symbols adorned the walls, and the atmosphere held a mystical aura, making it clear that this was no ordinary realm.

"So, I'm going to answer the questions you asked a while ago," the figure began, breaking the silence. "I am your creator, a being with the ability to shape and give life into existence. But you can call me Twilight."

Twilight, huh? That name resonated in the quiet, dark corridor, bearing a weight that signified millennia of existence.

"Wait, you created life? So, you're some kind of god?" I blurted out, still grappling with the surreal reality of my situation.

Twilight chuckled as they shook their head. "Not quite. I'm more of a progenitor who has ties with the god of creation."

"Progenitor? God of creation? That is a lot to take in," I murmured, running a hand through my surprisingly white hair, still adjusting to my newfound existence.

Twilight nodded understandingly. "I know this is overwhelming, but I'll explain everything. You, Luna, are not just any vampire. You have a unique purpose—one that could help the vampiric race."

"A unique purpose? What would that be?" I inquired, raising my eyebrow in curiosity.

"Your purpose is to overcome the limitation of a vampire," Twilight explained. "I specifically created you to adapt to their weakness, such as sunlight and dependence on blood."

Great, no pressure at all. I mean, how bad could it be to go outside and avoid biting people's necks as a bloody vampire? Hopefully not, that's how.

As Twilight continued explaining the intricacies of the vampire race, I heard distant echoes of multiple voices. Intrigued, I turned my attention towards the source of the commotion.

Walking along the corridor, I observed a group of individuals clad in white robes, engrossed in lively discussions. Their voices exuded excitement, but as we approached, the chatter gradually waned, and disdainful gazes converged on me specifically.

"Urgh, did you make another vampire, creator?" a man in the group asked, his eyes narrowing with undisguised loathing.

Twilight sighed, a tinge of exasperation crossing their faces. "That's right, Jahil. Allow me to introduce you to Luna, a vampire with a crucial role in the future of the vampiric race."

"Tch, another inferior experiment," Jahil, the man in question, scoffed condescendingly. "Your fascination with these feeble creatures is truly perplexing, dear creator. What purpose could this one possibly serve that we, the superior race, can't fulfill?"

Wait, hold on just a second. What did he just say about me? An inferior experiment? Feeble creature? Just who does this person think he is?

A tense and uncomfortable silence hung in the air as Jahil continued to scrutinize me. I felt both irritated and confused, making it harder to not stare at the man.

He then noticed my gaze and sneered at me. "What are you looking at, brat?"

"It's nothing," I muttered, averting my sight away from him.

With a stern expression, Twilight finally stepped forward. "Listen here, Jahil. I didn't introduce Luna so you could just disrespect her. Fix that arrogant tone of yours or leave immediately."

The atmosphere in the corridor intensified as the two figures clashed gazes, causing the rest of us to become nervous about this encounter.

"Whatever you say, creator," the man conceded, arrogance still evident in his tone. "But this doesn't mean we're done declaring our superiority against vampires. So, if you excuse us, we have better things to do."

The man signaled his group to depart, but not before giving me a disdainful look. However, I noticed one member who stood out from the rest. A boy with fiery red hair looked at me with an inquisitive gaze. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for a member of the group to smack him on the head and drag him away.

"Ignore them, Luna," Twilight muttered wearily. "Jahil and his followers have their own views, and not everyone appreciates change."

"Just who were they anyway? Why are they treating me so harshly?" I asked, bewildered by the recent encounter.

"They are called the high humans, my first creations," Twilight explained. "The reason they loathed vampires was because I forsook them for their arrogance."

A rush of conflicting emotions washed over me—frustration, confusion, and a lingering sense of rejection. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of future awaited me in this mystical realm of supernatural beings.

-------------------------------------------

Leaving the unsettling encounter behind, Twilight and I continued our journey through the dimly lit corridors of this enigmatic world. The air held a subtle tension, a blend of magic and the mundane. With each step, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was venturing further away from the life I once knew.

"So, aside from being arrogant, why did you abandon those High Humans?" I asked, trying to break the heavy silence.

Twilight sighed, their expression somber. "The high humans, my first creations, were gifted with unique magical abilities and intelligence. However, their arrogance and thirst for power led them to be deemed a failure towards my goal."

"What's your goal exactly?" I inquired, genuinely curious about Twilight's objective in creating living beings.

Twilight's eyes gleamed with a profound emotion. "I'm glad you ask, Luna. You see, my goal was to create a race of beings capable of living a long life and flourishing in harmony with the world. However, the high humans strayed from that path, becoming consumed by their desires for dominance."

As I listened to Twilight's explanation, I felt a sense of responsibility in their words. It was understandable that a creator would mourn the unintended consequences of their creations.

"I see... Then I'll do my best to fulfill my purpose so I won't be deemed a failure."

With those words, I comprehended the weight on my shoulders, a commitment to preserve the name of the vampiric race.

Upon hearing my conviction, Twilight nodded in satisfaction and said, "Splendid, I'm looking forward to seeing what you can achieve, Luna. Now, let me guide you to the place where the other vampire children reside."

Following Twilight through the labyrinthine corridors, I couldn't help but wonder how I would conduct myself in front of my new kind.

Would they treat me the same as the high humans, or would they welcome me as their own? Either way, I had to prepare myself if I wanted to be on their good side.

After a few moments later, we arrived at the designated room. Twilight calmly opened the door, and the atmosphere changed. Laughter and playful chatter filled the air, negating the tense corridors we had left behind.

As we entered the room, a group of vampire children welcomed us with curious gazes. They all stopped their activities and focused their attention on me.

Twilight stepped forward and announced, "Everyone, this is Luna. She'll be a new member of this race, so please treat her kindly."

The vampire children all nodded in unison, understanding the creator's instruction. But then, one of them walked forth and said, "Father, don't tell me you made another strange creation, didn't you?"

The one who spoke was a silvered-haired girl with heterochromatic eyes, her gaze gleaming in red and blue.

Twilight chuckled softly, "Indeed, Luminous, but Luna here has a special purpose. She will help your kind overcome the limitations we face."

"Is that so?" the girl raised her eyebrow before glancing at me. "I guess I'll reserve judgment until I see what you can do, Luna."

"Excuse me, but could you tell me who you are?" I asked politely.

The girl huffed in response. "Hmph, I might as well introduce myself. My name is Luminous Valentine. I am the daughter of the creator, Twilight Valentine."

Amidst the introductions, I couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and uncertainty about the future that awaited me with these new faces.

I would want to know which vampire characters you want to see in the next chapter.
