And why did the chairman specifically pick Karun and Kathy for this mission? Chapter 1Meeting the chairman :

33rd Floor NexGen Technologies:

My brother burst into my cabin, practically shouting, "Come on, the Chairman summoned us."

"Us?" I exclaimed, puzzled.

He grabbed my arm, pulling me towards the Chairman's office. "Yes, us!

Stepping into the elevator, my mind buzzed with questions. Why would the Chairman specifically call for us? It was unusual for regular employees like us to be summoned by him.

Karun's voice broke through my thoughts, reminding me, "Finish work early today. Mom asked us to come home early. Don't be late like usual."

I nodded, recalling our mom telling us to be home early for a ceremony later that evening

The elevator ascended swiftly, and with each floor, my anticipation grew. We reached the top floor, the 50th floor, reserved for the Chairman and inaccessible to most employees. This only added to my curiosity.

As the elevator doors opened, we were greeted by the Chairman's secretary, Marcus, in a black tailed suit with a perfect smile. No wonder all the ladies keep talking about him.I wondered how could a company uniform look this good on him while I felt like a hapless creature from a zoo.

Marcus welcomed us with a nod and a gesture, leading us into the Chairman's cabin. It was evident that this meeting held significant importance, considering the exclusivity of the location.

As we stepped into the Chairman's cabin through the glass door, a rush of cold air enveloped me, causing a reflexive shiver. I blinked, feeling the chill settle on my skin and wishing I had brought a sweater. "It is freezing," I muttered under my breath, a tinge of annoyance coloring my tone. My brother shot me a disapproving look for my complaint, which I didn't care anyway.

I hastily straightened up and greeted the Chairman with a polite, "Good morning, sir."

The Chairman nodded in response, signaling us to take a seat while he focused on some documents.

I wondered why he had summoned us. The Chairman wasn't known for his casual meetings. This would be only our third encounter with him. The first was when we joined the company, and the second involved a crisis with a game our company launched. Meeting him again was unusual, especially for regular employees like my brother and me.

I sighed, anticipating the questions from our curious teammates once we left the office. They were always eager to know about our encounters with the Chairman. Karun, catching my sigh, whispered, "Can't you behave normally in front of the Chairman?" he frowned.

"Whatever," I replied lazily, uninterested.

He pulled his hand back abruptly, intending to elbow me, but I dodged. We were in the middle of a silent sibling squabble when the Chairman coughed, drawing our attention.

We straightened up immediately, sheepish at being caught.

"Are you two bickering even in my cabin? I heard that you do that a lot" the Chairman asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.

The Chairman's observation stung. We smiled awkwardly, embarrassed to be reprimanded by him. He was right; we did bicker a lot. Despite sharing a strong bond, our thoughts and ideologies differed in every aspect. Finding common ground in any task was nearly impossible. While some found amusement in our disagreements, my mom used to say she sure had her hands full raising us.

He continued, "My kids used to fight a lot too... before they were gone..."

The atmosphere in the cabin turned colder as he mentioned his missing sons.

The Chairman fell silent, and we dared not speak. His sons had been vibrant, especially the younger one, who was stricter than the older. Their sudden disappearance due to an accident had left the Chairman devastated. Rumors circulated that he secluded himself in his mansion, drowning his sorrows. However, he returned to work six months later, though his grief lingered.

Karun broke the silence, skillfully changing the subject. "They were lively," he said, attempting to lift the Chairman's spirits.

I also wanted to say something, but Karun's elbow stopped me. I glared at him, frustrated. However, the Chairman noticed my struggle and asked, "Do you have something to add?"

I eagerly nodded, seizing the opportunity. "Yes, as my brother said, your sons were lively, especially the second sir, who was strict but he always cared for us," I said, trying to contribute.

The Chairman chuckled at my honesty, lightening the mood. "Yes, he was strict, even with me," he admitted.

Karun facepalmed, while I smirked, silently relishing my small victory.

Karun then asked the Chairman why he had summoned us. The Chairman's expression grew serious as he explained, "I called you here for a crucial assignment— or to say - a dangerous mission."

We listened intently as he revealed the details. "This assignment involves the "Avikaranya" on Nir-Dweep Island. My younger son discovered something suspicious there, and he ran some tests and here are the results."

Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse

I see dead people. But hey, it’s the zombie apocalypse, everyone is seeing dead people, including a blind girl. It’s not like I am that special. For a while, I thought I was going to be Cinderella, complete with the cruel stepfamily and the little mice for helpers. But instead of mice, I got demons from hell with a taste for chaos. Then again, there is nothing wrong with a little chaos in the middle of the apocalypse. It’s what makes life worth living. Unfortunately for others, they don’t quite see it that way. You see, I have a gift. One that isn’t exactly mine, but I can use it however I see fit. My gift is granting wishes. I'm a genie without a bottle, but it would be nice if people appreciated me more. All the humans ask for is the same thing… more food here, shelter there, kill these people, torture those. And I do it all, for a small price. I don’t ask for money or food, I can get that on my own. No, I want favors, souls, something that means everything for the other person. And they give it to me. Their momentary desire worth their long term happiness. But by the time they discover that, I’m long gone, already moved on to my next… client. I know I look young, starvation and abuse will do that to a girl. Humans tell me that I shouldn’t be wandering out there alone. Some try to help me… most don’t. But whoever said I was by myself? Just because others couldn’t see them didn’t mean my demons ever left. I still hear their voices in my head, whispering words of encouragement and love. For them, I’d do anything. Kill anyone. Destroy anything. After all, life is just a game, right? Those still alive at the end of the day were the lucky ones. Those who died were not. Everything is just a game of chance, all a human has to do is roll the dice. My only word of advice is to be careful what you wish for… you just might get it. My name is Hattie, welcome to my world. Would you like a cup of tea?

Coming of the Apocalypse Queen

In the year 2XXX, a blue meteor from outer space landed on Earth and signaled the dawn of the apocalypse. More than 60% of the population was wiped out by a mysterious disease. Plants and animals turned into mutants. People gained powers and abilities. The world and the government collapsed and turned into a world where only the strong is respected while the weak are doomed to die. Lilian Mo didn't have a good life during the apocalypse. She was reduced to being a possession of her fiancé and became his glorified bed warmer. He kept her locked up in his villa and rarely allowed her to go out, keeping her around as his pet that he took care of. Though it was considered a luxury to be able to eat three times a day and drink clean water in the apocalypse when all the water sources are contaminated, Lilian Mo sneered at this kind of life and escaped her confinement meeting people along the way and gaining an ability on her own. She found 'friends' during her journey and fought alongside them through life and death, only to be betrayed by them. Lilian Mo died tragically when she was pushed to a group of mutant animals by her so-called 'friend' whom she treated as a sister. When it seemed like everything was going to end for her, she opened her eyes and went back to her sixteen-year-old body, two months before the apocalypse. "The heavens have not forsaken me." Lilian Mo swore to grow stronger and take revenge on those that betrayed her trust. Lucky for her, she was reborn with the knowledge of the future and given her own special dimension. Her golden cheats allowed her to sail through the apocalypse without worrying about food or water. After waking up two months before the apocalypse, Lilian Mo decided to set her eyes on the people that wronged her. ▪▪▪ A story about a girl's journey to becoming stronger while trying to survive in the apocalyptic world and facing the man of her past. ▪▪▪ Reminding my readers that this book's rating is [No One 17 And Under Allowed] which means it contains mature content not suitable for young readers. Read at your own discretion. This also includes gore, violence, abuse, and explicit content because the setting is an apocalyptic world. The MC is a heartless person who kills without hesitation but has a soft spot for the people she cares about. If this bothers you, feel free to drop the book. I only write happy endings ;) This is pure fiction. Don't expect it to be realistic. My third language is English--hoping that the Grammar Nazis would be gentle with me Cover photo not mine. Apocalypse Days: I Rule with Foresight and a Powerful Son

You’d think seeing the future would give me a head start on surviving the apocalypse. I had it all planned—until everything I knew shattered when my husband sacrificed himself to save me and our son. Now it’s just me, my three-year-old son Leo, and my cursed gift of foresight that only seems to kick in when it’s nearly too late. I’m doing my best to keep us safe, to find food, to make some kind of plan— “Mommy?” I glance down, trying to ignore the tug on my pant leg as I focus on our supplies. “Not now, Leo. Mommy’s thinking.” “Mommy!” I sigh and finally look down. My three-year-old is standing there, clutching… I blink. “Leo, where did you get a knife?” He shrugs, grinning like it’s the most natural thing in the world. My heart stutters. “No, really. Where did you find that?” I try not to laugh. I mean, he’s three. Maybe he just—found it somewhere? But the next day, it’s a water bottle. Then, a tiny flashlight, somehow with batteries still inside. I don’t even know what else; he’s pulling things out one by one with the pleased grin of a kid who’s just figured out his favorite game. Well, we may just survive this mess after all. Now, if only the universe could have spared me from him. I don’t even know his name, but I know his type: tall, broad, and annoyingly handsome, with an air of calm control that’s out of place in this chaos. Ex-military, if I had to guess, with a voice that’s just as infuriating as his smirk. The man has a habit of showing up at the worst—or best—possible times, with a gun at the ready and secrets buried as deep as those bright green eyes. I mean, he’s probably useful, but I’m trying to keep my eyes on the prize here: survival. For Leo and me. Because, foresight or no foresight, nothing is guaranteed in this new world—except the fact that people like him are trouble.
