CHAPTER 308: Losing badly (1)

After a two years, yu yue finally meet the first condition. Just right for the academy's entrance exam. Though her heart isn't confident, her sisters weren't idle these past two years too.

"since the three of you are quite persistent then show me how capable you are and not just trying to waste your lives. Begin the first match" yu chang lu spoke unhurriedly.

She brought them to an open area were their clansmen spar, everyone came to watch this time. Patriarch ming was also here to assist yu yue's innate talent.

"first m, watch would be yu yue and yu xue'er" butler de ling jiu said as he took over the role of the host.

Yu yue took out her snow feather zither, it has a pure snowy white color. The zither shone with luster but soft like feather with fine strings.

Yu xue'er also took out her white phoenix zither, it was also white in color glistenning with radiance under the sun. Its strings were silky fine like hair. Her zither looks complicated, and of higher grade than yu yue's snow feather. 

Not long after, two different kind of notes clashed. Yu xue'ers style of playing is melancholic but deadly. The tempo is unpredictable and quick, she was good at both mental and spirit attacks. Yu yue on the other hand played the zither in a mellow pace but it was also just as lethal.

"zanggg!" yu yue was caught off guard when several needles flew towards her and one of them hit the strings of her zither. Thankfully it was made of good material so it didn't snap, though it disrupted her rhythm.

"that's unfair" she pouted as she changed the tempo of her playing.

"mother didn't say you can't use other means to win. Besides the battlefield was never fair" yu xue'er curled her lips, she hasn't played like this for a long time.

"you're right" yu yue smirked as she also throws some silver needles back. However, before her smirked could fully formed her eyes widened.

Yu xue'er tugged one of the strings and it coiled around her fingertips, with a wave the string elongated with an arc slicing towards yu yue's direction.

Yu yue cartwheeled backwards but the string left a little fine cut on her arms, her vision then darkened as she passed out.

She silently cried bitter tears of blood, she really didn't expect this outcome. She thought her zither skills is good if not comparable to yu xue'er so she only need to watch out for ming yu hua. Who would have thought she would lose badly? 

She was aggrieved when she finally realized how wrong she is; she hasn't seen yu xue'er fought before. But she saw her play the zither multiple times so she was focused on that. In the end she got poisoned, she never knew she would lose this way.

When she woke up she have a bitter expression, her friends look at her with sympathy. They also thought she would at least be in a stalemate with yu xue'er. 

"you failed because you were only guarded against mental attacks and spirit attacks, how careless" ming lang ji commented with a smile.
