Four Months Later

Today is a perfect day with clear skies and warm weather.

The sun is glowing bright, a gentle breeze blows making the leaves rustle.

In such a day, at the training ground, a small crowd of royal knights have gathered around with interested looks on their faces.

At the center of their attention,

Two young promising prodigies take their stances and stare at each other with intensity.

Voltaire is part of the crowd too, watching over them under the shades of the tree together with Julia and another person.

The said person, Clemton, is a tall man in his thirties with light brown hair, and dark eyes. He has a cold demeanor and tidied up with a jet-black suit.

He is the new butler assigned to Voltaire after the alleged assassin incident.

It's been four long months since then.

Apparently, they all thought it was an assassin sent by the neighboring country.

As for the reason, they have no idea why, when they have good relationship to the three neighboring country. And why Voltaire is their target.

Is it because he's the most vulnerable?

Maybe, but to make things secure, the royal family hired a former assassin to be a bodyguard.

Mathilda became even more overprotective due to that incident.

There's a lot of change since that incident.

Firstly, they move Voltaire's room near his parents'.

Second, there must be someone who can protect Voltaire at all times on his side.

Voltaire feels bad for worrying them but he can't just tell them the real story behind it. Therefore, he simply accept the changes without retaliation.

That's why, Clemton, a former assassin himself, became his butler and bodyguard.

That's some of the changes in his surroundings.

As for Voltaire himself, he has now better mana control.

To put it into perspective, he can now materialize a sword with decent blade to handle proportion.

Although the sharpness of it is still not suitable to cut anything as the sharpness or bluntness of it relies on his mana output.

The type of sword he's making is a one edge sword, a katana. He needs precise mana distribution from the base to the tip to maintain the quality sharpness he desires.

He's still working on it and currently the most he can do is to apply the sharpness for half of the sword and maintain it for 10 minutes.

Naturally, his 'range attacks' he did a while ago is on the same boat as his sword materializing practice.

If he force himself to be accurate then the 'bullet' of his range attacks will be lacking in power. If he focus on power then he's going to have a hard time hitting its target.

Additionally, the speed of each bullet is depending on how much mana you apply to it. His mana pool isn't even that big to begin with, it does get bigger for the last four months but it's not enough.

Due to his limited mana pool, he doesn't have a choice but to alternate the practice between his range attacks, sword materializing, and healing prowess every other night when everyone's guard weren't that active.

That's right, he also have the capability of a support.

At this point, it won't be a stretch to labelled him as an all-around user. It might sound enticing at first but it has its downside.

Swordsman can store their mana on their weapon while recovering the mana from the body. This unique trait of swordsman is why they are effective at long lasting battle as they don't have to worry about getting depleted of mana quickly.

Voltaire doesn't have this trait, in the end, he's not a swordsman.

It's the same for Rangers and Supports.

Rangers attacks from long range with their attribute's on full effect on each attack. Voltaire doesn't have an attribute, the only thing his 'bullets' has are speed and power which is still insufficient.

Upon learning this, Voltaire came to conclusion that 'Rangers' were similar to 'Mages' from rpg games except they don't have to cast a spell and can only use their own attribute.

Supports are just as important as the other users.

Their healing prowess holds importance, but what makes them special is their ability to temporarily boost the physical capability of another person with their mana.

Unfortunately, he can only heal himself and is still working on it like the previous ones.

Currently, he has yet to test if he can strengthen other people or at least himself.

His plate is already full with the basics, so he decided that he will eventually get to it after mastering the basics.

'It really feels similar to rpg games.'

Is all he could say. As the way users were constructed it's normal he felt that way.

He's still a baby and surely have a lot of time left. There's no need to rush everything.

These past four months also made him realized that his purple mana is not acquainted to any elemental attributes.

No one explain it to him of course, it's just his wild guess. And if there's a chance he has an elemental attribute, it's very likely to be a shadow.

His secret training was the reason he doesn't get bored anymore. The frustration whenever he gets stuck on his training, and the satisfaction he feels when he overcomes it makes it all worthwhile.

He still has a long way to go, but his improvement for mana control can't be ignored.

Getting back to the present, the two people who's the center of everyone's attention are Lance and Leisha.

The triplets were also improving in their own ways.

However, what makes this day special is because it would be the first time they will face each other in a spar after four months of rigorous training.

Both of them are looking intense, eager to show the results of their training... Or at least, that would be the case for everyone present excluding Voltaire.

He had this bias impression that Leisha won't take this sparring seriously.

There's a support among the Knight so a little bruise would be fine.

''Who do you think is stronger?"

"Of course, it's young master Lance. We see how incredible his firepower. It's very exceptional for his age, as someone would expect from his majesty's offspring."

"Maybe you can win a fight with firepower alone against C-class monsters, but against someone who can think properly, it's futile. You must be smart about your next moves and don't forget about the techniques. Certainly, young lady is better in those department."

While everyone is pondering who would win, Lance rushed forward with his sword and swing it downward with might.

"Ha!"

Lance shouted loudly as his sword met Leisha's rapier.

She easily parried it with a weird smile on her face like usual.

When she thought it was safe to counterattack, a delayed explosion coming from Lance's sword violently exploded.

It's not enough to deal fatal damage but can still cause a mild burn on someone.

Both of them were covered in dust and everyone looks pale. It seems Lance won the fight with that attack.

'Did he do it?'

An excited Voltaire thought.

However, when the dust slowly dissipate, and the kids appearance came to view...

Leisha had already moved behind Lance and was safe and sound while the creator of such attack has light wounds all over his right arm.

""What happened?""

Everyone thought so except for two figures—Clemton and the squad leader.
