Chapter 4

In a quiet room, a maid came out with a dirty and stinking diaper in her hand.

Despite this, the maid acts naturally as if she didn't bother by it. Just like you would expect from a maid.

Inside the very same room, a six-month-old baby is laying in his crib as usual.

It's Voltaire, he wears a new pair of clothing and of course, that includes a new and clean diaper.

The maid just bathed him a few minutes ago so he must be feeling good after that, right?

Yet, it's the opposite.

Even after a good bath, he is still not satisfied. The maid even feeds him so it can't be because he's starving.

Voltaire had an unsatisfied look on his face. The supposedly quiet room turns into a room with a lot of groaning because of him.

The reason for this behavior is the ceremony he heard from Lance yesterday.

Voltaire might be cute looking baby if you look at his appearance but, inside that nimble and tiny body of his lies a grown-up man.

That grown-up man yearns to be free to do whatever he wanted, however, he's trapped in the body of a newborn.

He understands that he can have his freedom once his new body grows so he's waiting patiently.

The problem is, he can't stand it anymore. His patience is gradually running out. He might become crazy if this continues.

Especially when he doesn't see one of his well-liked people for the past few days.

He knows himself very well and figures out the solution to his trouble...

It's to get entertained.

He's a newborn so how can he have fun when he can't even stand up yet?

There are many ways to have fun. One of those is to hear interesting stories. Another way is to watch amusing people.

Partaking in that ceremony is fit for both. Voltaire knows the ceremony is like a cure for his boredom and it can help him forget his annoyance about being a newborn.

Hearing about the ceremony is enough for his patience to go back to a full tank, what more learning more about it.

That's why he's so desperate to at least hear something about it. He even forces himself to be awake all day long hoping he would eventually hear the maids talk about it.

That's not a difficult feat to achieve, right?

Well, not if you're in a body of a baby whose instinct is to eat and sleep.

Currently, it's the middle of the day. The sun is so high up and the humidity is good enough to get sleepy.

Voltaire however, is not delighted by the good weather because it just makes him drowsy.

He continues to struggle just to be awake not until he accidentally closes his eyes and when he wakes up it's already late afternoon.

'Damn it! I had fallen asleep. First, Lance told me something interesting without deliberately explaining what it is.

Second, I just want to overhear someone who at least mentions the ceremony, and yet, nothing.

Third, I want to be awake all day to keep watch about that someone who would mention the ceremony but I fell asleep! My room is always open so what if someone already passed by and mention something about the ceremony? Damn it this inconvenient body of mine! Maybe I wasted an opportunity while I was sleeping.

'I constantly need something to look forward to or I will lose my mind.'

Voltaire couldn't handle his negative emotion anymore and he finally snaps. He cried loudly, so loud that it tops his cry in terms of loudness when he was on his first day in this world.

The maids nearby immediately hurried to Voltaire's room. They tried to change his diaper even though it was still clean, make their young master milk, and even lifted him gently.

Despite their efforts, Voltaire keeps on weeping even more than earlier.

(If this is a sport, it would be his career high. Lol)

The maids don't even know what to do anymore. One of the maids realized that their lady Mathilda, or the head maid Vivienne could end their young master's weeping.

After realizing that, the maid didn't want any more time and immediately told the others to keep an eye on their young master while she is going to call for either Mathilda or Vivienne.

Because she was in a hurry, the maid didn't realize there was someone who also walks into the hallway.

She only realized it when she bumped into her.

It was an eight-year-old girl. She's too small so no wonder the maid didn't notice her.

Both of them help each other to stand up. But the maid couldn't yet unwind. She still has a rigid face, but the moment she saw the girl, her expression softened.

"Julia! You're finally back!" the maid exclaimed, "I'm glad you've already worn your maid uniform. Come quickly, the young master has been crying for a while now! Help us."

"Yes, I am." the girl, Julia, answered, "Let's go then. I heard him from outside."

Julia has golden brown hair that reaches her shoulder, a jet-black pair of eyes, and pale but clear skin. She's wearing a maid outfit and a silver necklace with a leaf pendant.

For a commoner of origin, she's considered to be beautiful, however, if you compare her to a noble's daughter who has all the resources to keep themselves beautiful since birth, then Julia is not that special.

But why is the maid decide to ask for Julia's help to stop their young master from crying?

Because she's the personal maid of Voltaire, and he's quite fond of Julia as well.

The maid did not continue with her original plan. Instead, she goes back to Voltaire's room with Julia.

Both of them heard the crying sound even though they are still far away. Every time they get closer to Voltaire's room the louder it would be and harder to endure.

After a few minutes, they finally reached the room.

As expected, the worried faces of the maids who stayed in the room didn't change at all. All of them are sweating buckets and the room's mood isn't good.

The maid who met Julia ignore this negative mood and greeted them cheerfully even though she was catching her breath.

Of course, it irritated the other maids. One of them turns to the maid to point out that this is not the time to goof around.

However, when all of them see Julia the change in their faces is evident. They react the same way as the maid who first met Julia.

Julia on the other hand ignores all of this and the little girl quickly goes to her young master's side.

She looks at Voltaire for a second before she carried him gently.

Julia looks worried while holding her young master. She looks like a big sister caring for her younger brother.

At this point, nothing is running through Voltaire's mind. The word 'stop' is not on his vocabulary today. He just wants to keep crying until he ran out of energy.

From an outsider's perspective, it may seem that Voltaire is just throwing a fit of tantrums. However, this is the only way for Voltaire as he is now to show his frustration.

Although little by little, Voltaire's mind is calming down.

'...What is this? This warm feeling... Is this mother or lady Vivienne? But this sensation of a small hand gently holding me is not possible to be them.

Is it her? She's back?!'

Voltaire finally regained his reason and stopped crying. He slowly determines the person that holds him.

'...Julia? She's back!'

He exclaimed.

"Are you okay now young master?" Julia asked after seeing the change on Voltaire's face.

One of the maids standing by immediately gave Julia a handkerchief meant to wipe off the remaining tears in eyes of their young master.

Voltaire smiled brightly in response to Julia's question.

Thirty minutes later, all the maids left the room to go back to their original work except Julia.

She's the personal maid of Voltaire so this is obvious.

Voltaire is back in his crib while Julia watches from the side.

'...Ahhh, I'm still quite infuriated at myself for sleeping earlier. But this gentle and warm feeling I've always felt when she's around really changed my mood.'

"Seeing the young master's adorable face reminds me of my little brother," Julia said talking to herself, "Speaking of him, he's the reason I took a break and returned home.

"He's also attending the ceremony at the temple next week so I helped mother prepare for it."

'So her little brother is the reason she's gone for a week. And to think that her little brother would also attend the ceremony next week. I thought the ceremony is just for royalties since Lance said it was for them... Ceremony? Did she just mention the ceremony?!'

Voltaire forcefully spun around his crib to show his interest in Julia's stories, or rather, the ceremony.

"What happened to you, young master?!" Julia said, surprised, "Are you also excited about the ceremony?"

Voltaire smiled brightly again, trying to use his charms as a baby.
