"Let Ah Lin accompany you there one more time," Seo Zhenzhen's face lost some of its brightness, but she remained unhurried, making Cheng Zhiwei look like a disheveled madwoman.
"Seo Zhenzhen, you will get your comeuppance," Cheng Zhiwei's lips quivered, and thinking of her parents suffering in the harsh conditions of the Northwest, her heart bled.
Seo Zhenzhen's gaze was calm, or perhaps she was inwardly pleased, but she feigned an unruffled demeanor because it more effectively agitated Cheng Zhiwei.
"Zhiwei, I'll try to persuade Ah Lin to go there once more for you, after all, you're right, they sponsored me, and they are my benefactors," she said.
The word "benefactors" was said with extreme sarcasm.
Cheng Zhiwei's eyes reddened, and she slapped Seo Zhenzhen across the face.
"Slap."
The sound was crisp.
That slap had been three years overdue.
Seo Zhenzhen turned her cheek slightly but maintained her bland expression. Touching her cheek, she said softly, "I'm sorry."
