THE TALE OF THE FALLEN GENERAL:THE PROMISE

Once upon a time ,in a far-off land,there lived a general who was loyal to his king.The general loved his king dearly and would do anything to serve him.However, a war broke out,and the general was gravely wounded,

falling into a deep coma.Unfortunately, the kingdom lost the war,and the king was nowhere to be found.

Seven years passed,and the general awoke to find himself lying on a bed.He saw a man of his age writing something in a book.The general tried to speak,but his voice was weak.The man noticed him and quickly came closer.He said,"General,you've been asleep for almost seven years."

As the man spoke ,the general recognized his voice. He realized that the man standing before him was his king.The general was shocked and tried to speak,but his voice was still weak.The king noticed his struggle and asked him to rest.

"It must have been incredibly difficult for the king to speak those words.He revealed to his general that their kingdom had fallen,and that

they had been pursued by their enemies for years.Despite the loyalty of some of his ministers and soldiers, they had been betrayed and lost many brave soldiers in the process.It's heartbreaking to hear that even his own relatives had turned against him at the crucial moment.One can only imagine the pain and sorrow that he must be feeling. "

The general was silent, listening to the king's

story with tears in his eyes .He felt guilty for not being with his king during the war.After some time,he stood up ,fell to his knees ,and asked the king to punish him for failing him.

After a brief pause,the king inquired of the general, "Do you recall the agreement we made?"The general promptly recollected the pact.At a prior time,the general had expressed his desire to marry the king,but the king declined,stating that only in the event of his kingdom's downfall would he consider such an arrangement.

After a moment's hesitation, the general said yes,and the king immediately fell back asleep. The general quickly caught the king and realized that the king was in a deep sleep.

During a critical moment,Commander Yan arrived and requested the general to place the king on the bed.He revealed that the king's own uncle had administered poison to him. However ,the soldiers and he had come to the rescue of both the king and the general. This was due to the king's instruction to rescue the general even during

his slumber.
