71 A Ripple!

"Gaara!!!" Ren heard Temari shout as she and Kankuro ran toward him, Ren wasn't able to sense them until they had come a lot closer. It was because Gaara's body was releasing a huge amount of chakra.
A notification popped behind the error block but he had to ignore it as his chakra sense stabilized and he sensed a buildup of chakra and had to dodge back.
A cone of wind passed through his position but it was quite easy to dodge since Temari had angled her jutsu toward the sky, to avoid blowing Gaara's body away.
Ren waved the blocks from his vision away but it didn't work this time, the last block remained in his vision as it flashed a couple of times, but the unique hidden quest that popped up and the bounty mission block were swept away.
'Shit I won't be able to fight like this,' Ren cursed and flickered away as he looked at the options once again.
'I remember seeing the Mutated Magnet Release in Gaara's stats, it gave him the Sand manipulation ability...' Ren thought as he hid in a tree about 150m away from Temari and Kankuro, enough to keep them within his sensory range.
He needed to select this choice for his reward and then go back to kill Temari and Kankuro. Since the second he selects one of the rewards, Gaara's body would vanish, it would be too weird if that happened so he had to deal with them.
Even after seeing the power of Gaara's ability, the most attractive option to him was the Chakra multipliers of Gaara. He can't remember exactly how much his total multipliers were but for someone who had been slumming with just a +10 multiplier till now, the exaggerated amount of chakra both Gaara and Naruto had thanks to their Jinchuriki status was too attractive to him.
'The sand manipulation doesn't fit my style as well, it would totally disrupt my close combat ability and I don't think I would have enough chakra to throw around waves of sand like Gaara did.' Ren concluded. He didn't have much time since their fight could attract attention. Most of the rest of the squads should be spreading outwards, he couldn't deal with a lot of squads with one of his hands out of commission.
'I'm gonna have to waste some more chakra if I have to deal with Temari and Kankuro if they resist. Temari should be a long-range user judging by the fan on her back...'

'That was a bullshit jutsu, how did he even react to my attacks if he has no vision...' Ren grumbled as he selected the first option. The block vanished from his vision as Ren felt his chakra rumble, he smiled as chakra flooded his body and for a moment he felt invincible.
'Wow...' Ren thought as he opened his stats to take a look.

'My chakra went from 1200 to 6000!!' Ren marveled at his stats for a moment before he rushed back to finish off Temari and Kankuro, from his chakra sense he could tell they were still right by Gaara's body. He was about to rush and finish off both of them but paused as he saw Temari crying over Gaara's body.
'Wait his body didn't vanish?' Ren froze as he looked at Temari who had finally composed herself and she was applying bandages on Gaara's broken neck. Ren waited for a bit but upon seeing no reaction he made a Ram seal and scanned his surroundings.
'No one's around, I could try this...' Ren put his hand in the seal and pulled out the corpse of Haku. He had saved the corpses of both Haku and Zabuza to be exchanged at an appropriate time, he didn't want to use them but seeing that absorbing Gaara only gave him 43,000 Exp, Haku who was level 49 lost his value as an EXP bank.
Ren stared at the Kiri hunter mask on Haku's face and simply grabbed onto his arm, another block appeared in front of him but unlike the last one it followed normal routine.

Ren clicked 'Yes' and as the notifications blocks flashed in front of him he noticed Haku's corpse blinked out of existence.

The block was followed by a level-up block and the hint of fatigue that he was feeling vanished along with his chakra reserves which were now back to full. Ren sighed and looked at his injured hand, the level-up didn't do anything to heal his injury which was a bit disappointing.
'So the bug was because of Gaara, he didn't know one jutsu outside of his bloodline which caused the whole block system to collapse.' Ren stared as Temari collected Gaara's corpse in a scroll and he decided to leave them be. Even in the worst-case scenario, they were out of the exam anyway, and they would not be able to influence his results.
'I should leave them be and focus on the exam, now that that is out of the way what was the hidden quest that had appeared when I killed Gaara.'
Ren tried to will the notification block back to see what it was, but it was too hectic as he sensed Temari's jutsu heading for him.
Plus his focus was on the error message that had appeared in front of his vision that was blocking everything.
He wasn't able to read the hidden quest as it was behind the error block, and he closed it when he tried to close all the blocks.
'Quest...' Ren was pretty sure it was a quest so he just scrolled down the quest block until he stumbled upon a new quest.
