A Young Man Named Tul

In a city filled with many ability users, some who use them as acts to impress people for money, some using abilities in their daily jobs, and some not even using it unless needed, there was a strange street.

This street was dark and gloomy. Since it was night, and there were a few lamps outside broken, it was darker than usual. Some houses were destroyed in ruins, some with a few pieces missing or parts falling out. This area was, what you can call, the slums of the new world.

There was one house that stood out in the gloomy street. It was black and grey, fused with some beige. It was a house cleaner than the rest, and less broken down. It was still slum like but in better condition.

There was one lone person living there. He had nice slick hair with a shine to it. He loved black, so he had sleek black leather clothes on.

He just arrived home, after a long day trying his best to earn money. He usually stayed up late at night trying his best to keep his house and himself looking nice.

He sighed, letting out the stress accumulated throughout the day. "Ah, what a wonderful feeling, lying down in bed."

He slowly closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. He was so exhausted since he usually doesn't work this hard that fast. That's how he got home so fast, even though it was usually around 3 in the morning he got home, he got home at only 11 PM.

This was a great feeling as he can get a few extra hours of sleep. He knew the next time he woke up, he would have a wonderful day. Or so he thought.

He doze off into sleep, closing his eyes, feeling the relief of drifting off into dreamland...

*RIIIING... RIIIIIIING...* He woke up to an annoying buzz. He hit his alarm so hard his alarm clock had a slight crack in the corner. He was having a miraculous dream, disturbed by the alarm clock.

He got up from his bed taking a minute to wake up. After he finally woke up all the way, he walked into his bathroom and took a shower.

After he was done being dressed, he made a small breakfast that only costs about $1.52 USD.

He took a few minutes to eat his cheap food causing him to relieve much of the hunger he accumulated throughout yesterday, as he fell asleep from exhaustion before eating the day before.

Just as he was about to get up and walk out the door he heard a knock. He slowly opened the door being cautious as Fragment Wielder robberies were common, especially since his house stood out in a slum neighborhood.

He was surprised to see a man in a black suit and tie. The man had light brown hair, flowing like a river, a few freckles, light green eyes as if he was staring into a forest, and nice muscles, not too big nor too small.

The man in the suit opened his mouth and started talking saying, "Hello. I'm guessing your Tul. As you know in just a few days, 1/10th of the population will gain abilities."

Tul just replied with a simple and stern "Yes, and what do I have to do with it? Although I might get an ability it's only a 1/10 chance."

The man had a deep grin on his face as he was about to talk again. "Yes, and we believe you have a high chance of becoming a Fragment Wielder. If you do get a fragment, we will offer you an offer to join our company..."

Tul was surprised, with a confused but at the same time, serious look on his face. "Ah, I see... Goodbye."

Tul thought that people like this were so full of it. They would ask him to be recruited, but if his ability was bad they would give him bad rates of money per mission he does, and low supplies. If he had a good ability, they'd spoil him and manipulate him of their will. They will do whatever they want with him, by putting him in a contract.

A loud bang was heard... The door was shut on the mans face and Tul walked away.

"Don't wanna deal with someone like him... ugh."
