[Your soul falls deeper]
The darkness wrapped around Kore. Though it had been a familiar feeling, he hadn't been able to make out what this feeling was. It felt like death and life at the same time, nothing more like a perfect balance between both worlds, something that was so fragile that it felt it would break at any moment.
The familiar sight of the system panels had been the only thing that kept him company. He didn't know why something like this would happen. Was it because a fellow human had beat him to this point or maybe unfortunate timing was an answer he could only ponder.
The text was strange and had a sinister feeling behind what those words meant, which chilled Kore to the bone. He looked around for anything that he could possibly grasp or see yet nothing was there it was a sea of emptiness.
[Preparing the arena].
And just with that the void was now a roman arena with a more crimson look to it. Along with that, there was something that filled Kore with dread, the smell of brimstone.
He wondered if the fate that he had reached was what he had sent to everything he killed. Did they feel the fear he was now feeling in this arena, or had they ended someplace else with only pain and the flames of hell to greet them.
[Trial of Limbo]
[Rewards: Survival and ???]
[Failure will result in true death]
Kore stared at the text wide-eyed, wondering what would happen next.
[Please select a weapon]
A variety of weapons appeared in front of Kore, ranging from bows to spears. There were an incredible number of choices for weapons for him to pick in between, though many of them he had never used, let alone seen.
'Ah well, I've only really used a dagger, though it might be an advantage to have a longer ranged weapon considering I don't know what I'm going to be up against'
Kore spun through the list of weapons, particularly looking through the swords and spears. One category stood out from the rest; it was just question marks.
'I wonder what this could be. Maybe it could give me an advantage in this trial?'
The category opened, closing all other categories, making them inaccessible. This brought horror to Kore, making him wonder if this was just a trap meant to kill him. This was brushed away after he could see what the selection brought him. There had been a spear, hammer, trident, a pair of gauntlets, a single sword, and finally a scale with a sword.
He stared at the various weapons and decided that the sword would be the best, as it had been the closest to what he normally fought with, and the scale would weigh him down anyway.
[Failure to select this weapon. Please reselect.]
'What, how did this happen wait now that I look at it, I can only see the outlines of these weapons, though the sword and the scale is the only one that isn't just an outline.'
Kore looked at his final and only option and stared for a while with a blank face before selecting it.
'What am I going to do about the weight of the scale?' He thought to himself, staring at the scale he was now holding, which was incredibly heavy and made of an unknown material.
[Round one]
[10 Lost Souls]
The gates on the other side of the arena opened up and a hoard of skeletons with a dark smoke emitting from them stumbled out with the sound of loud clanking and groaning.
Kore put the sword in front of him and the scale to his side as for some reason he couldn't let go of it.
Two skeletons stepped close into his range, and he swung, slicing them apart rather easily after striking something similar to the heart of the monsters, which caused them to crumble and fall into dust.
One stumbled into his right side, and he kicked it back while slicing another in half.
'This battle is rather easy, and these things are pretty pathetic' Kore thought this while giving a sigh of relief.
After several minutes, all of the lost souls were dispatched rather easily as they moved slowly and were staggered, which gave Kore enough time to deal with them all without worrying about being surrounded.
Kore also took notice that none of the souls gave any form of experience or stat points, meaning it hadn't even given him the option for reincarnation at this point.
[Round 2]
[5 Forgotten Swordsman]
He stared at this with a rather upset face, like he had bitten into a lemon or something sour, but he hadn't had a choice and readied his sword and kept his scale to the side.
