The Moon Wolf Awakens

"Aooo!!!"

Wolves growls could be heard across the entire forest as Kisuke was standing outside the forest with a worried expression.

The entire forest of the night was the territory of many beasts but tempest wolves and dire wolves were the most abundant species in the forest.

This was because the ruler of the forest was a wolf named the Moon wolf. The Moon wolf was a twenty-foot-tall wolf which most demons knew about.

Some demons even told bedtime stories about the wolf to their children which usually ended up in the moon wolf killing people.

Kisuke had also heard the story in his childhood.

"Why are the wolves getting so active? They usually remain calm during these months." Kisuke muttered while pacing down the entrance as he was curious about it.

He hadn't been a teacher for very long and this was his first time teaching a proper class. And it was just his luck that he became the teacher of the imperial class.

While the trial of worth was going on, no demons were allowed to interfere with the trial and were forbidden to enter the forest.

Even Kisuke was not allowed to enter the forest and was only allowed to stand at the entrance.

Even though he was a little worried about the students, he still knew that there was no possible way that all of them will die.

All of them belonged to powerful families and their parents had already armed them with weapons.

'Though Aiden didn't have a weapon.' Kisuke thought as he remembered that the crown prince didn't have any visible weapons.

Perhaps he had been hiding his weapons but Kisuke had no way of confirming it.

Just as he was pacing down the forest, the land suddenly started to tremble below his feet. He suddenly stopped walking and turned towards the center of the place with wide eyes.

The ground continued to shake as Kisuke kept staring at the center of the forest with an expression full of disbelief.

"Damn it!" Kisuke muttered as he quickly ran inside the forest and forgot about the rules.

'Why is it waking up at such a time?! Isn't there a few centuries left until its awakening?!' Kisuke cursed out loud as he quickly traveled through the forest while using his wind element.

The reason the demon race wasn't bothered by the species in the forest was because the moon wolf was asleep for centuries.

It had to rest for many centuries since it was extremely old and had powers much beyond normal people's comprehension.

But every few centuries, the wolf would wake up and the beasts in the forest would go rogue. Many beasts would exit the forest and go towards nearby cities and towns.

But the demons were always prepared for the attacks but no one was ready for the sudden awakening of the moon wolf.

'Why am I even rushing in without any backup. There's no way I can even scratch the wolf much less defeat it!' Kisuke thought as he started locating the children using the band at his wrist.

The moon wolf was strong enough to resist even the strongest of demons and only the royals at the top of the hierarchy had the power to rival the Moon wolf.

But they never did anything about it.

The band on his wrist made told him where everyone was and he could easily locate them with it.

"No matter what happens, don't interfere. Even though the Moon wolf will wake up in a few centuries, the wolves have been becoming more rogue. Just try to make sure that the crown prince doesn't die and don't make it obvious." Kisuke remembered the instructions his superiors had given him and he had no choice but to obey them.

He quickly found Aiden's location and started making his way towards him.

< Host, I have a bad feeling. Quickly run away. > The system hurriedly said as Aiden also had a bad feeling about the wolves behavior.

He decided to head away but no sooner had he moved a few meters, the trembling of the ground worsened.

< Host, it's nearing a high magnitude earthquake. You better stay away from the trees. > The system said as Aiden facepalmed.

"How the hell am I supposed to stay away from trees when I am in a goddamn forest?!" Aiden exclaimed while trying to find a plain place to protect himself.

< Don't ask me that host. > The system replied as Aiden felt like cursing.

But suddenly, the entire place went still. It was almost as though someone had turned a switch off and the earthquake had stopped a moment later.

"So you are the demon who killed my children. I even woke up from my sleep because of you though you don't seem that powerful." An ancient voice suddenly resounded around the forest which sent chills against Aiden's back.

A twenty-foot wolf walked out of the trees and the ground shook with every step it took. The trees got burned to shreds the moment they touched the wolf's fur as Aiden's eyes widened.

The wolf had dark black fur like the wolves from earlier and its eyes were split pupiled and were glowing with a golden aura.

It had five inches long black claws and its eyes were examining Aiden curiously as it slowly came forward.

The wolf's tail was rising in the air as its fur shone brightly in the night. The clouds suddenly parted apart as the moonlight fell on the wolf's body.

< I told you, host. You should have run away. > The system said as Aiden suddenly backed against a tree while keeping his eyes on the wolf.

"It's a wonder how you managed to defeat my children despite looking like that. Let's see what you can do, little demon." The wolf spoke as it raised both of his front paws and slammed them on the ground.

Cracks appeared in the ground and moved forward towards Aiden as the land slowly fell down.

The land was barely inches away from swallowing Aiden's body as he decided to use skill to teleport away.

"Shadow Walk!" Aiden said out loud as he expected himself to vanish.

[ An error has occurred. The Moon Wolf's special ability prevents the usage of shadow-related skills. ]

Aiden's eyes widened as he read the message.

And with that, the land below his feet fell open and swallowed him.
