chapter 43

Meanwhile,

At the expedition, in the eastern side of the hundred thousand mountain site also known as the Forest of Myriad Creatures, a small town was being attacked by a colossal creature that no one had predicted existed, concealed within the deep underground.

Before them loomed a horrifying sight that sent shivers down their spines. Thousands upon thousands of blood-red tentacles extended from a massive red body. The tentacles seemed to stretch endlessly into the sky, casting a dark shadow over the field. Magicians started gathering, one after another.

The tentacles started twisting and rows of sharp spikes emerged. It resembled a massive, distorted starfish. Its center was a swirling vortex of darkness, devoid of light. Around the vortex, rows upon rows of jagged teeth lined its edges, grinding together.

"Keayhaaaaa!!!" The creature emitted a bone-chilling, otherworldly screech that echoed through the air.

The creature's blood-red tentacles lashed toward the ground with heavy force, sending debris scattering in every direction.

"Tch," escaped from Rhys Verdon's mouth.

He was in charge of this expedition, but before they could reach their destination, this creature appeared out of the blue.

It was one of the seven kings that ruled over the seas and beyond the storm barrier, surrounding the back of the continent like an unbreakable wall.

It had been told that it was dead long ago. To think it was alive and hibernating.

He couldn't stay idle anymore. As the beast finally reacted to their attacks and started unleashing its tentacles.

Thankfully, it was still weak. But it wouldn't be for long.

For some unknown reason, the more bloodthirsty monsters became, the stronger they grew.

Gazing at the unit, "The Agis 16th unit," he raised his armor-covered hand from within the dark robes, pointing towards the creature.

With frightening speed, everyone unleashed their Aura zones along with a few Domains and rushed towards the colossal creature, leaving trails of colorful light behind them as they easily broke through the sound barriers.

Rhys himself also acted. He deployed his Aura Domain: Air and took out his own soul gear. His soul gear formed on both of his hands, gradually radiating a yellow glow under the shadow of the colossal creature hanging over their heads.

The twin huge black and white swords formed along with a pair of white wings made of magic as he dashed towards its center, where its mouth was located.

Spells and incantations filled the air. Bolts of lightning, jets of flame, and swirling storms of elemental magic assailed the creature's massive form. Yet, its thick hide seemed to absorb the assaults with little effect.

Rhys pushed his Aura Domain to its limit, enhancing his speed until he was but a blur. With a mighty cry, he swung his twin swords in an X-formation, slicing through a descending tentacle as thick around as an ancient tree. Ichor and flesh rained down, but another appendage was already lashing towards him.At that moment, one of the magicians summoned a wall of stone from the earth, blocking the attack. "We must target its core!" she shouted. Nodding in understanding, he flew upward through a hail of teeth and claws, dodging each strike with barely a hair's breadth to spare.

"Code 663." A voice shouted, making Him retreat for a second before waving his hand. The rings on his finger glowed as sigils formed continuously. And spikes after spikes appeared and started circling around his body at rapid speed before launching towards the center of its mouth while activating his trait, "Heat."

The earth spikes glowed and turned red from the sudden application of heat as they rushed towards its mouth, melting its thick armor-like scales.

Meanwhile, at the same time, the voice who shouted finished forming his spell. Which was a huge spike of ice as others continuously enchanted it with sigils of speed and sigil of Eon along with many others.

As Rhys dodged another lashing tentacle, he saw the massive spike of ice hurtling towards the creature's core. "Now!" he shouted.

The spikes of melting rock merged with the spear of glacial ice, the two elemental forces combining into a singular point of immense power. It struck true, burrowing deep into the vortex's darkness. A shriek like the shattering of mountains rent the air as black ichor burst forth. A deep injury was created, making way for the Finale strike.

"Give the way, Leonard incoming!"

Rhys, hearing that, cursed and backed away, same with others. And as expected, right at the next moment.

A thing passed through him, with incredible speed. Rhys could only get to see a glimpse of the thing before it hit the target followed by an intense storm of sand.

It looked like a drill, but it wasn't. It was a person.

Plates of steel covered the person's body, like an arrow pointing upward and spinning with incredible speed.

A loud roar escaped from the creature before a huge hole was created, missing the core which was in its center.

It roared in pain as its tentacles lashed on the ground at rapid speed, destroying their formations completely.
