14 Final Kiss

Beatrix blushed, her breath hitched in her throat.

"Well here goes nothing." She let out a nervous chuckle and lit the fire to the rope.

Rhys chuckled before he grabbed her hand and yanked her in the other direction.

"RUN!" He shouted but the laughter in his voice could be heard.

Adrenaline kicked into Beatrix's veins as she found her legs trying to keep up with his outstretched sprints.

She was petrified and excited all at the same time, and Rhys holding her hand was the only thing keeping her sane.

When they were a couple hundred meters away from the lighters, Rhys abruptly stopped, making her crash into his stone hard chest. He held her there protectively, his warm arms encircling her."

"Look, love." He said and pointed at the sky.

Reluctantly, Beatrix tore her eyes away from his piercing gaze... and watched the explosives ignite.

One by one, lighters of all colours and sizes lit up the night sky with a bang.

She couldn't will herself to blink, not wanting to miss second of the most incredible scenery she had ever witnessed.

She didn't even turn when she heard the snap of a camera.

She was busy engraving every beautiful firework in her memory as they were right in front of her. Her mouth parted in disbelief.

The moment was perfect. She wanted it to last forever.

But then the sound of police sirens filled her ears.

"Shit!" Rhys cursed and grabbed her hand again.

"Beatrix, we have to get out of here!"

Beatrix had no idea how she even got on his bike, the harsh wind slapping her on her cheeks reminded her that everything was real.

She held Rhys tighter as he sped down the road.

Beatrix laughed and shouted enough for Rhys to hear.

"That was incredible! I never knew something bad could feel this good! Everything happened in a flash. We were there then the next second we were running for our lives!"

She said gasping for air,

"Glad you had fun. Now enjoy the ride."Rhys chuckled.

Beatrix removed the rubber band from her hair and let the wind tousled her hair. She stretched her arms wide, and lifted her face to the night sky as they roam across the city.

This good warm fuzzy feeling she didn't want it to end. She wished every second of her life would be filled with this much happiness.

"Okay our last stop for the night!" Rhys said and packed his bike in the town's square.

He helped her down from the bike and grabbed her hands again pulling her towards the water fountain.

He pulled her towards him when they reached the water fountain and gently brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"Beatrix….."

His voice was merely a whisper as he gently pressed his forehead to her temple and stroked her lips with the warmth of his breath.

"Did you have fun?" He asked with a soft smile on his face.

Beatrix swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded, "Yes."

"Do you think this day is worth remembering?" He asked again as he placed his thumb dangerously close to the corner of her mouth and her eyes fell to his lips.

"Y-yes." Beatrix blinked, still not taking her eyes off his lips.

"Well then let me give you another memory to unlock. Anytime you visit this city remember me little mouse."

"C-can't forget. Never forget." Beatrix replied absentmindedly.

Her gaze still on his perfect, pink lips and she hesitantly reached for him and placed her hands on his waist, just above his belt before gathering the fabric of his black shirt in her hands.

Don't ask her when she got so bold. Spending time with him had made her feel more comfortable and her desire to test the way that he feels against her was so strong she didn't care.

Beatrix arched herself against him as his body called her closer.

He tilted his head down and there was a rapid response in her pulse. He tugged on her lower lip with the with the pad of his thumb, exposing her bottom teeth

"Good. Then remember this too."

He brought his hands up to cup her face and then lowered his lips to her. Beatrix's eyes widened, she was too stunned to speak. She gasped when he pressed her closer to him, snapping her out of her stupor. She closed her eyes and kissed him back, softly at first, but then his lips pressed down firmer, deepening the kiss.

The water fountain shot water upwards at that moment celebrating her happy moment with her. You know how people compared kissing with fireworks? Yeah it was more explosive than fireworks and the sensation was more hot than hotpot.

He gave her another gentle kiss before resting his forehead against hers.

"I have been waiting to do this ever since I saw you today." he whispered thickly, as the pads of his thumbs swipe across her cheek gently.

"Why didn't you?" Beatrix asked, her voice barely a whisper and not entirely sure where she got the confidence to ask.

"Because I'm afraid once I get a bite I might be selfish and want more."

He said, pulling his full lower lip under his teeth before releasing it.

"And now? After the bite?Do you want more?" She asked expectantly.

Rhys chuckled slightly to himself, "Yes even though I know I shouldn't but humans we are selfish creatures eh?"

Beatrix frowned in confusion, "What do you mean?"

"I mean you and me…this is the end. You deserve a better guy and I hope you meet him one day."

Beatrix opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out.

"Promise me little mouse, you will be happy. You look so beautiful when you smile, don't let anyone steal your smile away."

Beatrix lifted her eyes from the ground and stared into his eyes.

"I think you should take your own advice." Beatrix let out a small chuckle.

"Hmm maybe I should." He said and a press a kiss on her forehead.

"That can you kiss me one last time? I-I think you have ruined me. Now I will be comparing every guy I kiss with you."

Rhys grinned and smirk, "And I'm sure none will ever compare to me." He boasted before leaning and pressing his lips against hers once more.

The final goodbye. Beatrix thought.

But only if they knew how cruel and twisted fate was.
