Tragedy befalls

Charlie returned to his room and sat down to concentrate. Due his recent breakthrough, he was feeling more confident about succeeding on feeling the spirit qi in the atmosphere. Usually, a person could only awaken at the the age of fifteen but there were a few special cases of people awakening before fifteen. As for Charlie, he was a little egoistic due to his breakthrough and classify himself as a cultivation genius. As he continues to concentrate, he felt the the presence of spirit qi in the atmosphere for a brief moment before the feeling disappeared.

"I.....felt... it, i... felt.. it,I felt it " he mumbled to himself a few times before bursting into wild laughter "hahahaha..I felt it..hahaha"he laughed for a while before calming down "hmph,I always knew I was a genius. I wonder what the my parents and sister would feel after I break the news to them. I'm sure their expressions would be satisfying. Before that,I need to get the hang of this first before trying to open my dantian". He thought before calming his mind and continued. Bit things didn't go as expected, after countless attempts, he still couldn't get the same feeling. "What the hell happened, why can't i get it right anymore?. Did something go wrong??" He frowned as he thought about missing any important steps. "I guess I'll just have to leave it at that for now and try again tomorrow ". He got walked to his bed and fell asleep.

In a fancy manor somewhere close to the centre of the city, a meeting was going on with a middle aged man who looked sixty to seventy percent similar to Samuel, the patriarch of the O'brien family was leading. He was George, Samuel younger brother who lived close the family castle. He held a high position in the family but,due to himself not being the family head,he had to move out of the castle as per the rules of the family. He along with two other men were in the room discussing in private. "We'll attack tonight when they least expect. I'll lead my men through the back while Mr Chu and his men will come in after me to surround them. Meanwhile, Mr Damien's men attack from the front to cause a distraction. No mistakes are to be made during this operation. Unless, it'll be troublesome ". George said to the other men who happened to be the leaders of the Chu and Dam family, Chu Yang and Damien Dunlop, respectively. There were about to carry out a plan on how to overthrow the patriarch of the O'brien family and take over the city. Though termed as the two of the three great families of the city,the difference between their families and O'brien family was huge.

By sneak attacking them at night so suddenly, they stood a chance to succeed. Plus,they had an insider who happened to be the younger brother of the patriarch and the mastermind of the whole plan. He had always hoped to rule over the the family but since he younger than Samuel, his dreams were never actualized. But,he never gave up on that dream. His ambition was to take over the O'brien family and usurp the other two families slowly. So he decided to betray his brother and take his position.

"You have a good plan and I think it's doable. What do you think, brother Dunlop??" Chu Yang asks Damien Dunlop. "OK,we'll go with it"."so let's get ready, we'll attack by midnight " they concluded their meeting and want their separate ways. George walked to his bedroom and finds his son,Georg,waiting for him inside. "Father, how did it go,did they agree??" "Yes,they did,hmph..bunch of greedy fools. They think I don't know they plan to wipe us all out and divide our wealth among themselves,we'll see who has the last laugh".George smiles evilly as he proceeded to prepare for plan. Somewhere else in the city,Chu Yang and Damien Dunlop could be seen having their own meeting. "What an ambitious fool,he actually planned to betray his brother and even brought us in his plan. He's unbelievably stupid "." Yeah, but it can only benefit us.After this,we would be the true rulers of the city". They laughed as they both left the hall and went their separate ways for preparation.

Meanwhile,In the O'brien family castle,people were still going about with their usual activities. Some were sleeping, some were cultivating while some were just being idle. "Hubby, what bothers you, you can talk to me about and help in any way I can" Shantel O'brien says as she walks up to Samuel who was lost in thoughts as he stood by the window of their bedroom." It's nothing, don't worry about it " he turns to face her as he smiled and replied. "Are you sure?,because you really seem worried ". "Really, it's nothing. I just feel a little uncomfortable. It's as if something bad I'd about to happen but have no idea what it is". "Relax,maybe you're just a little stressed out. By tomorrow, you'll have elbe fine. Trust me" she said to him to comfort him."Yeah, I i guess you're right. Thank you". She smiled at him as they laid on their bed and cuddled to sleep.

Charlie,on the other hand,was feeling paranoid as he laid on his bed,unable to fall asleep. He rolled about,trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in but just couldn't fall asleep. He grunted and got up,walking outside to receive some air. He just stood there in a daze,trying to calm his mind when he heard a loud noise from the front gate of the castle. He rushed over only to see a scene he would never forget. Corpses of dozens of guards strewn all over the entrance which once housed a beautiful flower garden. They were even a few corpses missing some body parts. Blood was everywhere as it started forming a mini blood pool. Due to the explosion, the e parts of the family came out of their residences with the their weapons,ready for war. The soldiers of Damien family were marching in with their own family experts and patriarch at the front.

"Damien Dunlop, what's the meaning of this, you're committing capital offense and could get your family wiped out for your actions". Samuel roared as he rushed out and saw the gory scene. He was on the of madness ad he saw his once loyal guards lying dead.

"Hehe..Samuel O'brien, you have no right to say that to me. You're about to join them soon so there's no need to angry. After tonight, your O'brien family will cease to exist. Hahahaha.." Damien Dunlop saud with a mad expression on his face. "With you gone,we'll become the supreme rulers of this great city with absolute command over all hahaha...".

"You've goon insane. What makes you feel so brazen to create such an atrocity. Well, it's too late for you. Guards,wipe them out". He ordered the remaining guards and experts of his family.

"If it were I alone,then maybe I would've been afraid but I'm not the only one tired of your arrogant and overbearing attitude".

"I see,so it's the two of you. Hmph,you're still not qualified. I guess it's time I get rid of both of you".

"Well,you're almost correct but you missed one. And you'll never believe who it is,hehehe..." Damien Dunlop smiled and said.

"Brother,it's the end of the road for you. Just sit still and get ready to be killed hahaha..."George walked in with his private army as they surrounded them.

"No wonder,it was you. You were the reason they had the guts to attack me. But why?.. you could even backstab your own family like this? If only you would have been patient, you would have still become the family head. Sigh...."

"What do you mean by that?" A frown appeared on his face George's face. "Little Charlie didn't want to be the patriarch, so he asked me to pass it unto you. But who would've thought you'd betray us...sigh". Samuel said with a sad and heartbroken expression on his face.

George stood there in a daze as tried to process the situation for a few seconds before putting aon an indifferent expression. "We'll,it's too late for that. It's already happen as it is and there's no turning back now". "Now you can die,attack!!!" He ordered to the soldiers behind him as he retreated towards the back and watched on with a cold look on his face.

Charlie saw everything going on and started panicking as both sides engaged in battle. He ran back into the palace to warn his mother and sister to hide. Only to get inside and saw the bodies of the maids lying in their own blood every few steps he took. It made him all the more worried about them as he rushed in with all his strength. He arrived at his sister's room and saw her cowering in fear as three soldiers along with arrogant and evil looking youth walked towards her in a semi circular formation with her in their midst. From the look of things,they were about to rape her. Endless rage into his head as he roared in anger and charged towards them with a dagger in his hand.

"Get away from her,you vile creatures!!!" He got to them as he stabbed out,piercing a soldier's back causing blood to fly everywhere. The soldier was shocked as he fell down,never to get again as he died,creating a pool of blood beneath him. Charlie didn't stop as he rushed about,making use of their shock to cause more damage. He managed to kill another soldier who was stan closest to Charlotte. He picked her up and rushed out under the pursuit of the remaining soldier and two young men. He ran along the empty hallways of the castle before charging into an empty room. The room had a few secret passages installed in it. He made use of one as he charged out of the secret passage that led to a small door at the side of the castle and ran out into the distance before coming before a tree.

"Stay here, I'm gonna try and save mum. Be quiet and don't make a sound. I'll be back and we'll escape together ".

"Wait..what about dad,will he be alright?"

"I'm sure he'll be fine. Just wait for a while and I'll be right back" he said as ran back into the castle through another secret passage.
