Preparations for the auction (1)

"Ash," Duke called. "We have a few friends and staff members staying here, but they are not family. The five of us are family. Do you know what's the difference?"
Ash shook his head. At this point, no one knew where Duke was going with this.
"As a family, I expect that five of us will stick together and help each other whenever possible, even if there is nothing we could gain in return. As for others, they are here only because it's mutually beneficial. Do you think any of them would be here if they are not getting something out of it?"
Ash's lips were pressed together firmly. No one could say that Duke was wrong because he wasn't.
As much as I wanted him to form a pack, I stopped bringing it up. It will happen if Duke feels like it. It was one thing what I wished for, but that didn't mean it was practical.
