Drowning in guilt

Author's note: this is from Seraphina's point of view

I was staring at the phone as if it was my mortal enemy while telling myself to call Duke. I knew it would be hard and emotional, but I had to do this.

During our meal in the villa in Romania, I realized that Kiera was a living creature. Not a pet.

She was a magical creature, highly intelligent but also innocent and vulnerable, and it would be wrong to keep her, considering that I had no idea what I was doing.

I decided to get in touch with Graike. He was the only dragon I knew, and as much as he was eccentric and quirky, he was a good person. For a dragon.

That was why, after our meal, instead of going home to Duke, I went to my father's home in Genoa. My goal was to go through my father's documents and find out how to contact Graike. Surely, my father had a phone number or a spell that would work.
