A Medical Emergency

[ Graike's POV ]

I snapped my fingers impatiently at Hedda, and she knew that she would be punished if she didn't provide a satisfactory answer. "Well?"

"The female needs rest. Her soulmate would help."

"Her soulmate?" I asked like it was a foreign word.

Hedda pointed at Serina's neck. "She is mated."

Damn it! It seems that the dog was needed. Was there no other way?

"Is there anything else that can help?"

Hedda glanced at the slave girl. "Mermaids have healing abilities. I don't know if it works on the soul, but it can't hurt."

"You!" I turned to the slave girl, and she jolted. "Do your thing."

"I don't know how," she said.

Useless trash. "What do you mean, you don't know? Isn't that part of who you are?" I turned to the woman by my side. "Hedda! Tell her what you know."

"Me? How would I know anything about mermaids?"
