Answered Prayer

As he spoke a silent prayer, he begged whatever higher powers that may exist to spare his life some of his lifespan. Though he used to be an atheist during much of his life, when the onset of death came ever closer, he started to seek refuge in faith.

"How pathetic. I used to be a model citizen from the Bright Republic as well. What will my publicists think when they hear me praying to the heavens?"

That was a thing of the past. Now, his value had fallen to such an extent that he had to resort to joining the Flagrant Vandals to remain relevant. None of the other mech regiments agreed to his demands.

"How short-sighted of them! Even if my resonance strength is far from my peak, I'm still strong enough to be a terror on the battlefield!"

That was the prayer and thought of Venerable Rixt O'Callahan before he entered into battle for the Flagrant Vandals.

After being a terror against the Vesian Mech Unit...He burnt some precious years off his already short lifespan and had to quickly go back into Hibernation as that was the only way his already short lifespan could reduce slower.

While in his Hibernation, his heightened senses spotted something roaming around his Consiousness.

"Rixt O'Callahan...The Wooden Scroll has heard your prayers and wishes to grant you the extended lifespan you desire" said she voice in his head.

The Expert Pilot assumed it to be a joke or something similar but decided to play along "Yeah, A god willing to grant me a longer lifespan, Why do I have to do to get your favor as I assume it's not for free" he said still being Skeptical.

"You shall find out now as you shall witness the might of the wooden scroll" said the wooden scroll consciousness.

The Expert Pilot felt his consciousness being ripped apart from his body into a much greater vessel,as that began his journey as the Wooden scroll consciousness.

NB: The Wooden Scroll is one of the 5 scrolls in the novel the mech touch read to find out more
