Come, sit around, children and listen to this legend.
Once before the world we know today even existed, there were two gods.
Zennes, god of light, earth, life and creation.
And his brother Durthul, god of darkness, the underworld, death and destruction.
Together, these two titans shaped the world.
Zennes built great mountain ranges and ordered the earth to cover itself with greenery.
Durthul, stomped, and every time he did so, the he left a valley behind him, he was a very unstable and fiery god, once in a foul mood, he smashed both his fist into the ground and left a deep hole, which later became the ocean.
The two gods lived for a long time in balance, a cycle of creation and destruction.
Until Zennes created the first humans, elves, dwarves, and other inteligent forms of life.
At first, Durthul didn't mind, the creatures were small, weak and after birth, aged and died very quickly.
That was until he learned that these tiny creatures were clever enough to transform things into other things.
He could chew down the fact that Zennes was always changing everything, but he couldn't bear it, that these creatures could do so too.
In a fit of rage, he tried to destroy everything.
That was the first cataclysm - the end of, age of creation.
However, Zennes was stronger than his brother, as he drew his power and strength from all living things in the world, their duel ended with him the victor.
Durthul was in turn banished to the underworld, where he could do the world no more harm.
Or so it was thought.
After several thousand years in exile, Durthul grew accustomed to the underworld and its unique power.
He discovered that he could shape this power into anything he wanted, so he set to work and created the first orcs, ogres, wyverns, and other monsters.
In a few hundred years he had his army, and was ready to take revenge on his brother who wronged him.
Upon his return, he destroyed what he could, and his hordes spread chaos and death, from which their master drew his power.
This time, when the Titans clashed, their power was equal, but throught the battle Durthul grew ever stronger, because even as he fought Zennes, his hordes continued to kill and destroy everything in their path.
It looked like this time around Durthul would be victorious and all would be lost.
But Zennes, was not a god of creation for nothing, in the last moments of the battle he created a weapon to help him destroy his enemy, for good.
Without their master, the hordes of monsters lost their coordination, went wild and scattered around the world.
Zennes did not celebrate his victory, however, as he was mortally wounded in battle and lost most of his divine power.
As his last godly act before he died, he plucked some of his hair and put it deep underground, blessing the world and giving it magic.
His whole existence turned into the stars, so that he could continue to watch over all living things and guide them even through the darkest of nights.
But even Durthul changed after his death.
He turned into darkness, into darkness that is behind the stars, in the depths of the earth and the underworld.
Hiding in our shadows, in dark thoughts and blackened hearts.
That was the second cataclysm. End of the age of the gods.
But what happened to the weapon that helped change the outcome of the battle?
It was not perfect, it was lacking something.
Perhaps even Zennes himself didnt know what it was, he was already very weak when he created it.
And so after his death the weapon shattered, into 6 pieces, each of the pieces took its own form, and disappeared into the world.
It is said that one who obtains one of these pieces, gains power beyond any man.
As you know dear children, this legend is true as two pieces have already been found.
By lord Metheas of Trimhel who found the first piece in form of a Scelter which commands the powers of the flame.
And by young lady Mackhail who found a Spear which has the power over water and ice.
Other than those two, other pieces are yet to have been discovered.
And who knows. One day, when you play outside you might find them yourselves.
This is after all your age. The Age of Steel and Magic.
Just imagine this really old grandma telling an old story to her grandchildren.
