MaryJane The Narcissist

They'd spent the rest of the night drinking and ranting. Especially Gwen who had a lower tolerance for alcohol.

It was around 1am when Diane managed to call an Uber for her friend who had an afternoon flight later in the day.

Diane lightly patted Gwen's cheeks after dropping her into the back seat. "I've set your alarm for 10am, make sure you don't miss your flight".

Gwen on the other hand seemed like she was about to pass out as her friend helped her buckle the seat belt. Could they even trust the driver not to try anything with her?

"You know your father is in charge of the police and won't let it slide if he finds out you were out drinking". She lied just wanting to bring up the name of the police as a warning to the driver.

They both lived in different directions.

She moved to speak with the driver. "Here's five dollars to help her to the front door".

"Ten".

Her brows furrowed. "Forget about it then". She opened the passenger side to get in. "I'll tag along".

He seemed displeased at her words before driving off while Diane fought hard to keep her eyes open. If she was to fall asleep, there was no telling what that faceless man would do - Plus it was a fact that only external forces could wake her from those lucid dreams.

"Hey!" A voice startled her from behind. She quickly looked over her shoulder to see Gwen sitting upright. "Are we almost there?"

Her head lolled to her right to look at the driver who had a deep frown as though she'd foiled his plans. "Almost, just go back to sleep".

Gwen rolled her eyes, slumping down in the passenger seat with a groan. Diane tried to ignore the fact that the driver had been sparing glances at her laps.

"You're really pretty, you know?". He tilted his head towards her with a devious smile.

"Watch the road". She snapped back in irritation, feeling the urge to punch him.

"Feisty too". He continued to flirt with her but all she could think about was giving him a black eye.

After what seemed like an eternity of holding back, the car finally came to a halt at the parking lot. Diane felt relieved to not have trusted such a person.

She leaned against the door before weakly forcing it open. The world began to revolve around her the moment her feet touched the ground and it took everything to stop herself from throwing up.

The sound of the car doors slamming caused Gwen's eyes to open. Diane silently helped her up, "Could you wait a bit, so-".

The driver zoomed off before she could finish. "Sorry, but I need some shut-eye". He called out with a wave.

Diane only cursed him under her breath.

Josh might come looking for her if she spent the night at Gwen's. That was how persistent he was, plus she already had her Sunday planned out.

It was a hassle getting her heavy friend safely into bed without slumping. Once finished, she turned around to take a peek at the clock and saw it was past two am.

Her head was pounding when she left the building. The nearest Uber would arrive in about half an hour - but would she be able to last that long?

She began to stagger on the deserted road. 'When will the driver get here'. She groaned inwardly before leaning on a lamp post to catch her breath.

A car appeared a few meters away, slowly crawling forward. It stopped beside her and a male driver rolled down his window.

"Need a ride?".

At this point, she could barely make out his face or her surroundings. "Get lost". She retorted before staggering forward.

Her mind was quickly going blank she'd not even heard when the car door had come open. A hand wrapped around her waist from behind. "Don't force yourself, just get in". His voice was low with a motive after taking a better look at her.

She reeked of alcohol and probably wouldn't be able to recall his face the following morning. And to sum it up, she was gorgeous!

He felt his face flush up with excitement when she'd turned to face him. Her eyes were dull and her lips parted to speak. "I said.... fuck off!". Her knee went up to kick between his legs.

"Arghh!". He cried out before punching her in the face.

Diane collapsed on the concrete ground with half her senses.

In his anger, he stepped on her ribs which made her scream in pain. With a sneer, he kicked her repeatedly. "Crazy bitch!".

She coughed out some blood - at the sight of which her eyes widened.

'Blood? Is this my blood?'. It was from a sharper voice in her head crying out in disbelief.

She felt him drag her away to open his back door. Steadily, yet roughly- he threw her down before leaning over.

'Filth! Filth is touching me!'. The inner voice pierced her eardrums before she felt her eyes roll up. Her nails suddenly grew sharper as she stabbed four fingers through his neck.

Befuddled, he coughed out some blood while the rest spurt out of his neck. "How dare you". She gritted her teeth before tossing the middle-aged man out the open door.

With an inhumane speed, she attacked him - ripping him limb from limb. "How dare you harm my perfect face!". She kicked his remaining torso away before leaning over in a groan.

Two dark wings sprung out from her back and she let out an ear-piercing screech before taking off.

Someone who'd seen everything in the darkness clicked his camera with shaky fingers before staring at the picture in disbelief. Unfortunately, he'd not been able to get her face-

She took off in the direction of her apartment while clutching her cracked ribs. There were many things she could overlook, but physical abuse wasn't one of them.

"You're useless, Diane". She spat out.
