Face the Consequences

Lin Xiao Feng was relieved to hear that An Nuan had safely left Y City. 

He heard that Pei Zhi Yi had been staring at the hotel's entrance for the whole night, hoping that he could catch An Nuan. Fortunately, Zhang Yu Han helped An Nuan to leave.

Now that An Nuan is no longer in Y City, Lin Xiao Feng can be more at ease.

He inhaled a deep breath to compose his thoughts.

Now, it was his time to face the consequences of his decision.

It did not take him too long to arrive at Lin's family house. As he looked around, he noticed that his parents were also at home.

A faint smile curled on his lips. Lin Xiao Feng knew that her father was supposed to be at his office during this time. Seeing that his father chose to stay home at this time, Lin Xiao Feng knew that it was because of him.

The door was pulled open from the inside as soon as he approached.

Lin Xiao Feng was not surprised to see that his mother would personally open the door for him.

"Mom." Lin Xiao Feng greeted his mother with a smile. 

"Xiao Feng, why did you come this early?" 

Usually, Song Luan would be happy when she saw her son coming back. But it was different today. Song Luan hoped that her son would not come home this early.

"Mom, what do you mean?" Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. "Are you not happy to see me?"

"You know that is not what I meant." Song Luan heaved a heavy sigh. She held her son's hand in hers. Her expression showed her distress. Song Lian wanted to be happy to see her son. But Song Luan could not be happy, knowing the reason her son came back this time. 

"Mom." Lin Xiao Feng patted his mother's hand a few times as if to assure her that everything would be alright. Lin Xiao Feng raised his head and peeked into the house. "How is grandfather?"

"What do you think?" The frown on Song Luan's face deepened. She leaned over and whispered, "He is still angry. Your grandfather still hasn't had his breakfast. He insisted on waiting for you."

"Then, I should go and meet him quickly," Lin Xiao Feng said. "Grandfather has to eat early. He still has to take his medicine."

Lin Xiao Feng was about to enter the house and look for his grandfather when his mother tugged on his arm. "Son…" Even at a time like this, this young man was worrying about his grandfather's meal.

"Really. I will be fine." Lin Xiao Feng tried to laugh.

Song Luan pursed her lips to suppress her unhappiness. "Is it really worth it?"

"This is what I wanted to do," Lin Xiao Feng said. "Mom, I really like An Nuan. I haven't said anything in the past because I was worried that Grandpa would not like her. But now, I am married to her." 

Song Luan observed her son and noticed the smile on his face. As his mother, how can she not understand her son?

Lin Xiao Feng was really happy when he stood at the altar with An Nuan yesterday.

It was the first time in a long time that she had seen such a scene. After Lin Xiao Feng graduated from high school, he was always so serious, listening to his grandfather's arrangements.

"How is An Nuan?" Song Luan asked. "Is she alright?" 

Her daughter-in-law was left on her wedding day and was somehow married to him. Song Luan was worried about An Nuan as well.

"She's fine. She's on her way to T Country with her friend," Lin Xiao Feng said. "I let her go on a trip, hoping that she would think carefully about what she wanted to do next."

"That's good." Song Luan nodded. "An Nuan needed some time and space to clear her mind after what happened. Going on a vacation would be good for her. That girl is also pitiful."

"Mom." Lin Xiao Feng patted his mother's hand again. "I really need to go and meet Grandpa now."

"Go ahead." Song Luan sighed. "Your Grand Uncle already talked to your grandfather last night. I hope that this will help to make your grandfather go easy on you."

Lin Xiao Feng smiled. He did not have any expectations, especially as he was about to face his grandfather. 

After exchanging a few more words with his mother, Lin Xiao Feng finally headed upstairs to look for his grandfather. He stood in front of the door and inhaled a deep breath. Lin Xiao Feng knocked on the door and waited until his grandfather called him to enter.

"Come in." The old man's voice was loud and clear.

Lin Xiao Feng straightened up his posture and pushed the door open.

As soon as he stepped into the room, Lin Xiao Feng saw that his father was also in the study. He met his father's gaze and noticed the comforting look in them.

He quickly retracted his gaze and looked at his grandfather. 

"Grandfather. Father," Lin Xiao Feng greeted. 

The old man shifted his gaze to his son. "Lin Xu, you should leave now. I still have to talk to Xiao Feng."

"Dad…" Lin Xu cleared his throat. He was worried about leaving his son with the old man alone.

"What's the matter?" Lin Chuan narrowed his eyes. "You are not going to listen to me now?"

Lin Xu glanced at his son with worry. As their gazes met, Lin Xu noticed the assuring look in his son's eyes. He knew that Lin Xiao Feng wanted him to listen to the old man's words and leave quickly.

Although he was not assured, Lin Xu knew that he could not go against his father's words.

Reluctantly, Lin Xu stood up from his seat and walked to the door. He walked past his son and gave him another look before he finally left.

The door was shut tightly. Then, silence reverberated in the room.

Lin Xiao Feng inhaled a deep breath. Then, he went down with both knees.

Thud!

The sound of his knee against the floor was loud and clear.
