The Strongest Vampire Returns

A mysterious particle arrived on Earth. Scientists didn't know what it was, but they called it Mana. This Mana particle was just the beginning of the catastrophe. Strange buildings appeared all over the globe, and a horde of monsters came out of it. Humans called these places dungeons, and a new era began on Earth, an era of Runners. Runners' only purpose was to explore these dungeons, trying to find out what caused them, and how to stop the horde of monsters to take over the Earth. The particle they called mana had provided mutations on humans, based on their genetics. Every individual acquired abilities based on the cells in their body. These abilities gave humanity a chance of fighting back the horde of monsters, and a way to explore the dungeons. One dungeon, in particular, had a youth lying down in a coffin. The name of the youth was Mikael, and he was a vampire. Humans thought vampires were only a tale, but Mikael was there to prove them wrong. He had slept in that coffin for thousands of years, and now some silly Runner had awakened him. Mikael found himself on an Earth he didn't know a thing, alongside monsters who could danger his very existence. Follow Mikael's journey as he learns more about this new era, and uses strange powers gifted by the mana.

Exploring

Mikael left that old castle in a minute, dashing so fast that human eyes wouldn't notice him. The first thing he saw was countless trees, and a few animals here and there. He had acquired some information with Jenifer, so he at least knew what direction to follow, and that was south.

A large city stood at the south. Mikael would have to run 500 kilometers or more to arrive there, which would take him some time. He was fast but even him would get tired after walking that long without feeding. Mikael hoped to find someone along the way, that would be pleasant.

These dungeons were a mystery to him, and according to some things Jenifer had said, strong monsters now roamed Earth. Mikael had slept for thousands of years, and he didn't feel like dying so soon.

"I need to somehow enter an academy where they teach humans how to use their powers. It will be a good place to gather some information and to avoid these mythological beasts that Jenifer talked about," he thought, jumping from tree to tree, aiming south.

"I'll need to be careful while feeding. Humans are dangerous now. I wonder if there's more of my species," Mikael didn't know if he was the last vampire alive. At least Jenifer had said to him that she never heard anything about vampires, but Mikael knew that his species was abnormally good at hiding.

He took advantage of the night-time to run faster. Sun rays would make him weaker, which would eventually make his journey even longer. Sadly, the night was almost over, so Mikael had to make a stop in the end. There wasn't much places he could use to get shelter and rest, but he did find a cave in the middle of the forest.

"This place I'll do." Mikael was happy that there was no beast inside of that cave, waiting for him. It wasn't a good spot to sleep, but he didn't have much option either. He had his back near a rock, thinking about this strange particle humans called mana.

"Mana mutated humankind. Is there a chance that I, a vampire, got some additional skills as well?" he didn't feel any different, and none of the hand movements he tried worked.

"I'll have my answers once I get inside the academy. I just need to figure out how I'll do that without an ability," he put the frustrations at the back of his mind, and went to sleep, waiting for the night to come.

"Look, a cave," a soft voice echoed, waking Mikael from his sleep.
