"Indeed, because Mei is a beauty, if it were some big burly dude, I wouldn't bother getting involved!" Ye Long said honestly.

"You are quite frank!" Mei chuckled lightly, then asked, "Aren't you afraid they will retaliate?"

"If they want to retaliate, let them come. I've been itching for some action anyway. If they dare to come at me, I'll dare to fight. Bring on one and I'll take on one, bring on ten and I'll take on ten, bring on a swarm and I'll take on a swarm!" Ye Long said, not caring in the slightest.

"You talk a good game, but they are quite famous in the underworld. Can you really take on seventy or eighty people?" Mei asked.

"With their caliber, seven to eight hundred wouldn't be a problem!" Ye Long replied nonchalantly, waving his hand. With his skills, it truly wasn't a problem—it was just a matter of time.

However, to others, Ye Long's words would naturally seem like bragging.

Mei obviously didn't believe him. Taking on ten people might be feasible, but seventy or eighty, or seven to eight hundred was clearly impossible. They could drown you with just their spit!

Mei nodded and didn't pursue the subject, "Regardless, thank you for what you did this time. But you probably won't be able to stay in Ninghai City for much longer. Here's what we'll do. I'll give you some money, and you should leave. Because with my ability, I can't really ensure your safety."

"Uh... leave Ninghai City?" Ye Long felt somewhat annoyed. Just how powerful were his opponents that he needed to leave?

"Yes, they have significant influence in Ninghai City. Your actions today have undoubtedly offended them. So, for your safety, I hope you leave," Mei said, looking at Ye Long. She clearly saw him as a good young man who was brave and righteous but did not want to bring harm upon him.

"Actually, I came here looking for a job. How about this, you hire me to work here. If they dare to trouble you again, I'll deal with them!" Ye Long said, somewhat dejectedly.

He had to follow his master's orders and not reveal his true purpose, which was to work at the KTV!

"You deal with them?" Mei couldn't help but smile slightly at her lips after hearing what Ye Long said. "You're oversimplifying things. Since that's the case, I'll tell you. Those young men are Fathead Snake's men. If he wanted to deal with you alone, it would be a piece of cake!"

"Uh... Mei, I've already said it's me protecting you, not you protecting me. I'm not afraid of them!" Ye Long said, somewhat helplessly. It seemed like Mei was pretty sharp, but now, it's hard to grasp the real situation?

"No, I can't put you in danger. So, it's impossible to hire you to work at my KTV!" Mei still refused, having regarded Ye Long's claim of being able to fight seven to eight hundred people as a joke.

In Mei's view, Ye Long seemed decent enough; although his fashion sense was a bit outdated, he seemed quite clever!

And having the courage to intervene in that situation showed he was quite gutsy!

But in today's society, being gutsy simply isn't enough; you also need strength. Mei, having been tempered by society for so long, knew this very well.

Of course, if she weren't afraid of Ye Long being retaliated against by Fathead Snake and his group, she would have really liked to keep him by her side!

Ye Long felt quite frustrated upon hearing Mei's refusal. He thought it wouldn't be a problem to show off his abilities and land a job here.

"Alright, if you take my advice, please leave Ninghai City as soon as possible. Take this money!" Mei said, taking out a stack of money from her wallet. "This is all I have now, about two thousand yuan. You take it."

Ye Long looked at the money in Mei's hand, clearly uninterested. He wanted the beauty, to be by the beauty's side, not the money!

"Since that's the way it is, then I'll be off. But I'll return, and then you'll understand!" Ye Long said, then turned and started walking downstairs. Sometimes explanation is useless; one must prove oneself with strength.

"Ye Long, take this money for now!" Mei called out from behind.

"No need, just consider it a bonus when I start working for you!" Ye Long replied without looking back, waving his hand, and then he went downstairs.

Mei watched Ye Long's retreating figure, and couldn't help shaking her head!

After leaving Guimei KTV, Ye Long felt utterly dejected. Was it really that hard to land a waiter job at a KTV?

Ye Long couldn't help but look up to the sky and exclaim, "What the hell!"

If he was going to settle down in Ninghai City, he had to find a place to stay. He couldn't possibly sleep on the streets, could he? At least when he was in Dashan, he had a cave to live in. The city was different from the mountains; at the very least, he needed his own nest!

Staying in a hotel would cost about a hundred a day, which was obviously not feasible for every day. It would be better to rent a place!

But Ye Long wasn't familiar with Ninghai City. Where would he know where to find a place to rent?

With no other options, Ye Long had to find an internet cafe to look up rental information in Ninghai City. It would be best to find something in East City District since it was closer to Guimei KTV!

Upon arriving at the internet cafe, Ye Long started a computer and opened up the Ninghai City housing website.

It must be said, the internet is indeed a wonderful thing!

Ye Long quickly found rental information in New City District of Ninghai.

"Damn, 2000 a month?"

Ye Long browsed through the listings. He wanted a place with a good environment, and there were options, but 2000 a month was indeed painful to contemplate!

When he left, his master Li had given him just 300 yuan—money for the train, lodging, meals—and after all the expenses, he had just over 100 yuan left!

It wasn't as if there was no money in his bank account, but that old man, his master Li, to prevent him from running away, had unreasonably frozen his bank card!

Which meant that Ye Long was left with just over 100 yuan to his name. Forget about renting a room, in a few days even filling his stomach would become a problem. Truly, he was the most down-on-his-luck bodyguard ever, bar none!

"Hmm, this one isn't bad!"

Ye Long saw a shared rental listing. Based on the photos posted, the place seemed nice. Renting it alone would probably cost over 1000, but since it was a shared rental, it was only 200!

After browsing the photos, and seeing the place was decent, he thought it wouldn't be a problem to haggle it down to 100. Regardless, he needed to secure a place to stay, so Ye Long decided to rent it!

He looked at the phone number provided and immediately made a call.

The call connected quickly, and a lazy, rough voice answered.

"Who's this?"

"Um, are you the one who posted the rental ad online?" Ye Long asked, trying to keep his tone polite.

"Yeah, what about it?"

"I'd like to take it!"

After Ye Long said this, a stream of swearing erupted from the other end of the line, "Motherfucker, didn't you see I wrote that I only want handsome-looking girls? Why the fuck would a big guy like you need it? Fuck off!"

The person at the other end said this and then abruptly hung up the call with a "snap"!
